Is there a way to give less than a one star reviews?? I lost a few brain cells while I tried to read this. I've seen a few of the videos of these girls on YouTube so I thought this book might be fun. Nope. It was full of superficial fake drama. Its very poorly written and just plain boring. Don't bother wasting your time or money. If you do, you will be a few IQ points lower in the end. **I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. I was not required to write a positive review, only an honest one.**

While Beneath the Glitter is not the world’s best story, I still really enjoyed it. We see Hollywood from the perspective of two normal girls as they get thrown into a world of glitz and glamour. There are a lot of fabulous parties and, of course, romance as the girls start to learn about the L.A. lifestyle.I am usually enthralled by the lavish lifestyle in these types of books, but that is actually not what appealed to me in Beneath the Glitter. Sophia and Ava are quite relatable and I loved reading about their relationship. The term “sisterdarity” is used in the novel, and I actually think it sums up the novel quite well. The bond between Sophia and Ava is really what makes Beneath the Glitter special.Even though the sisters have their ups and downs in the novel, it is clear that they love each other more than anything. The way they support each other through everything and know each other really well is truly what sisterhood is all about. I loved watching the two create their own makeup line, and can I just say that the packaging for the London Calling make up line sounds awesome? I would love to buy those products! At the end of the day, Beneath the Glitter is a novel about sisterhood. Whether you love or hate your sisters at the moment, at the end of the day they are irreplaceable. While the Hollywood glamour and the London sisters’ rise to fame are the focal points of the plot, the bond between Sophia and Ava is what makes Beneath the Glitter sparkle.

In Beneath The Glitter, we read a fictionalized (and somewhat dramatized) version of YouTube stars Elle and Blair Fowler’s rise to internet fame. The book follows sisters Ava and Sophia London in similar circumstances, with added drama, boys, and glamorous things.I’ve been a fan of Elle ever since she started her “Glitterature” videos, so when I learned she and her sister had written a novel, I was intrigued. She has such a fun, bubbly, and kindhearted personality and seems like an overall sweet person. When I found out I had won an ARC from Goodreads, I was ecstatic and anxious for it to arrive!Needless to say, the book, while cute and one that may resonate better with other readers out there, was not my cup of tea. I love me a good contemporary story (a la “Gossip Girl”) but as hard as I tried, I just couldn’t connect to the characters or the story. If this book was a dessert, it would be Angel Food Cake. Light, fluffy, and sweet. But after a while, the cake—on its own—can be too plain and in need of a certain “je ne sais quoi” that makes it delectable. I felt that there wasn’t anything fresh that I haven’t read or seen of before. Yes, in the literature world, many authors “borrow” from each other. However, they add their own unique flair or spin to it to make it their own. Here, I felt it was too common and didn’t have that “wow” factor to make it stand out from the other countless novels that follow a similar storyline. I think part of it is also with the season it was released in.I’m sure Elle and Blair will continue to be the lovely Make-Up Gurus they are on YouTube, and I would love to see if they have any other novels that are a little different in store. Beneath The Glitter just wasn’t for me, however, I’m sure it will resonate better with other readers out there searching for a cute, fun, and light beach read!I would like to thank Goodreads and the publisher for making this possible.

This book was better than I imagined. I was a bit apprehensive due to my prior knowledge of the Fowler sisters, but the book was pretty enjoyable. I received an arc from the Goodreads First Reads Program and was excited to read the book. The book is loosely based on the lives of Elle and Blair Fowler. It's an easy read and I definitely want to read the sequel. There were a few moments in the story where I felt like the characters were a tad bit immature for their age, or times where I just wasn't interested in reading about the parties they attended. If you like books about glamorous lives, then this is your book.Surprisingly good book!
