About this audiobook

The many wondrous gifts of Johanna Lindsey—her fiery and endearing characters, her enthralling stories, her ingenious blending of passion, wit, and emotion—are all on glorious display in this unforgettable tale about an unwanted title and an unexpected love.

Has anyone in London ever taken part in the coming-out Season with less enthusiasm than Sabrina? Luckily, the most sought-after lady in the city has agreed to usher this young, lovely country girl through the perils and pitfalls of her all-important first season.

Dashing highlander Duncan MacTavish is even less keen to be in London. Having recently learned he is the sole heir of an English marquis, Duncan is now required to assume his grandfather's title and estates—and to marry Sabrina's ravishing, viper-tongued guide, who has been heard to make scathing statements in public about her "Scottish barbarian" groom-to-be.

His unwanted betrothal, however, has brought Duncan into close proximity with the enchanting Sabrina—a kindred spirit whose wit delights him . . . and whose essence is the exquisite stuff of dreams. But duty, station, and a secret that dwells in the lady's past forbid Sabrina's and Duncan's desired union—unless true love can somehow miraculously find a way.

I found the narrator difficult to follow. The male voices were almost indistinguishable from one another.

Just too much dialogue trying to create a storyline where there is none. It was not the worst book I’ve read but definitely not like the early JL novels that were so good you couldn’t put them down. This one made me think, “Do I really want to finish it?”

Duncan MacTavish finds he is the heir to his English grandfather's marquisette and also has an arranged bride. Olivia's a gossipy b*tch and he decides to look around. He becomes friendly with Olivia's friend, Sabrina, who falls in love with him. But he seduces her and then becomes re-engaged to Olivia. Sabrina is a doormat who should have grown a spine and dumped his arse. He's an oblivious, ill-tempered clod, and Olivia is the worst (I think she's supposed to be redeemed in the next book in the series, but I don't care because she is unreadable). There are a few more interesting minor characters: the English grandfather and the guy who decides to become friends with Duncan (not sure why). Mostly, this book was a huge disappointment.

The first book in the Locke Family Series. A very cute story about an heir sent to England to meet his bethoved. He finds that she is the most beautiful girl in the world, but is also very rude, proud, and not to his licking. He meets an average girl who is kind and makes him laugh. He falls in love with her and wishes to marry her. His obsticle is that his intended bride spreads rumors of thier engagement, hurting the possibilities for him to be with his true love. The sex scenes are amaziing!
