Do you have the courage... the faith...the fire?

Loving the world like God does involves extreme sacrifice. It also has radical effects, demonstrated in these 366 true accounts of fellow believers from around the world:

  • A Christian claims the names of God at knife-point and lives to tell about it

  • Prayer revives a coma victim, in defiance of village witch doctors
  • A Bible verse between friends helps a Hindu family discover the light of Christ
  • An abused 7-year-old asks, "Do you have any pills that would give me hope?"
  • Prayer walking college students lay a foundation for spiritual revival in West Africa
  • A former Muslim finds forgiveness in the Jesus she denied

Voices of the Faithful brings you the amazing stories of hundreds of Christians worldwide who daily go to the outer limits of spiritual devotion and are living the passionate, courageous life Jesus challenged us all to live.

I recently received the book Voices of the Faithful by Beth Moore to review for the Booksneeze book review program. The book is a collection of missionary stories from many different countries. The book is intended to be read one page a day similar to a daily bread. Each day has a verse, missionary story and then concludes with a prayer.I have mixed feelings about this book. Generally, I like Beth Moore; although, I find that she has issues with interpretation at times. This book has some of the same issues with it. I really enjoyed reading the missionary stories since I myself was a missionary kid. The stories are very inspiring, and I could identify with several of the stories. I think it is an eye opening book for those who have never had the chance to go overseas and be a part of missions trip to get a glimpse of what missionaries go through in daily life. On the other hand, there were many stories that revolved around dreams. Dreams and visions are not happening in this day and age. It sounds a lot like mysticism to me.So, if you can overlook the periodic stories of dreams, the rest of the book is good reading.**I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Voices of the Faithful is a 365 day devotional book with different subject topics each month such as God's word, prayer, compassion & witnessing. Each month has a separate topic, and Beth provides an AMAZING intro to each month. However, the single page daily devotionals are stories from missionaries around the world. This was the first book I had read from Beth Moore, and I wasn't sure it would live up to all the hoopla I have heard... both good & bad. Voices of the Faithful proved to be both good & bad - The inspiration I received from each of the monthly intros from Beth Moore made the book worthy of a 5 star review. Unfortunately I can't say I loved the daily devotions. As the daily devotions are from missionaries in different locations around the world, I had a hard time putting myself in their shoes. I would prefer to have read more "real life" stories that I could better apply to my everyday life. I would recommend this book, however I'd make sure the reader knew the daily devotions are from missionaries and not Beth. I will definitely be looking into some of Beth Moore's other books.
