About this audiobook

When Hollywood It Boy, Reid Alexander, arrives on location to shoot his next movie, his goals are the same as always: film another blockbuster hit, and enjoy his celebrity status to the fullest while doing so. His costar is a virtual unknown with whom he had blazing hot chemistry during her auditions. The universe is lining up nicely to grant whatever he wants, as usual, until he's confronted with unexpected obstacles on location - like a bitter ex-girlfriend and a rival for the first girl to spark his genuine interest in years.

Emma Pierce just got her big break after more than a decade of filming commercials for grape juice, department stores and tampons, and more recently, bit parts in made-for-TV movies. Nailing the lead role in a wide-release film sent her agent, father and stepmother into raptures, and should have done the same for her. The Problem? Emma is experiencing a building desire to be normal, and starring in a silly, modernized adaptation of one of her favorite novels - opposite the very hot Reid Alexander - isn't going to advance that aspiration.

Indie actor Graham Douglas isn't overly picky when it comes to film roles. If it pays, he'll do it. Besides, his friend Brooke Cameron snatched up the role of the bitchy hot girl and could use his help as a buffer, because her ex is the star. Graham has no problem keeping a handle on the situation, until he finds himself attracted to Reid's costar, Emma, the girl Reid is pursuing full-throttle with his standard arsenal of charm, good looks and arrogance.

Originally reviewed at Witchmag's BoekenplankI really wanted to like this book. It started out so good, but it soon became a strenuous read. My main problems were with the story and the characters. First lets start with the story. Or lack there off. It didn’t feel like much happened. There’s drinking, filming, make out sessions, and afterwards it’s back to filming again. That’s it. Although there’s sometimes a change of scenery, most of this story takes place at the hotel were they are staying. So no real story or romance to enjoy for me.Now on to the characters. They were hollow and I didn’t like some of them at all. Too much of a stereotype. Emma is the only one who at last gets a little character growth, but still she doesn’t feel like more than an empty shell. I’d preferred it if Emma acted a little more like someone who has her own will, instead of following Reid’s lead. And to open her eyes for her REAL feelings…. I’m not really fond of characters like hers.Reid… don’t get me started about him. I was hoping that somewhere during the story he would see the light, become someone I could care about, instead of the shallow being he is. But to no avail. It only went from bad to worse.I also didn’t get why we had to read a part of the story from his point of view. If we only read through Emma, it could have been a little more interesting, cause you wouldn’t know what his real attentions are… but the backlash would have been far greater…What saved this story for me was Graham. The wise, older guy who befriends Emma. He’s the only one who has at least a bit of sense and is so mysterious throughout the book. I’d really wish I could have read some scenes through his eyes, instead of Reid’s. It would have made me feel a lot better about boys and their hormones, sheesh! Then there’s the underage drinking, sex, and what not. Some things really shocked the hell out of me! And there are no adults at all who intervene! Uhm, hello isn’t there usually a guardian near, or something like that? It just didn’t feel comfortable reading about those things, knowing the age they are (or must have been) when they did all that stuff. It just didn’t feel right to me, even if this makes me a little prudish ;)Conclusion2 HEARTS, barely. It started good, but became strenuous. The characters don’t have real depth and I fail to see why I had to endure reading half the book through Reid’s eyes. I’ve never met a shallower person than him! There’s a bit too much focus on minors doing things not suitable for their ages. What made me continue was Graham and the mystery he presents for Emma and in the end I’m kinda glad I did. But I’m not up for another book full of Reid and his behavior, so I’ll call it quits with this one.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the dual narrative style because you get to hear the main characters inner dialogue and it's not just one-sided. It also told me who i wasn't rooting for. The banter between the characters in the book was funny and didn't seem too contrived. Overall the concept (young actors on location filming a movie) was interesting and was surprisingly better than I expected it would be.

So BETWEEN THE LINES is the first book in a trilogy and I suspect it's the sort of trilogy where it's unfair to judge the individual installments and better to look at the books as a whole.

Basic story: a bunch of actors are on set in Austen to film a high-school set adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. The story alternates between the POV of two main characters, Reid and Emma.

Reid is a young Hollywood heartthrob, Zac Efron style or that's what I pictured, about as well established as someone his age can be. His POV is done really, really well because he's not a very nice guy but once you're inside his head it's hard not to root for him. He's got a messed up family and plenty of problems, but he's so smart and focused.

Emma is a virtual unknown. She's been struggling along doing made for TV movies and commercials and getting the part of Lizbeth - playing opposite Reid as Will Darcy - is a huge break for her. She, too, has a messed up family but she's mature, likable, hardworking, not a complainer. Humble and sweet, not at all full of herself.

Because of the alternating POVs I assumed from the get-go that this would be a book about Reid and Emma hooking up while they film this exceedingly lame Pride and Prejudice adaptation (I seriously think Webber wrote the scenes into the book as a joke - they're so bad!). But Reid is a textbook douche pretty much from beginning to end, and all the while Emma is developing this really lovely, supportive friendship with Graham - the guy who plays William Collins, of all people - who's a textbook good boyfriend, thoughtful and supportive and caring.

Honestly, the book doesn't make sense as a one off. All the time spent on Reid, who's a jerk, and the way Graham is so mysterious even though he's clearly the better choice. After reading Easy, which has some pretty awesome messages about female empowerment, I just refused to believe that Webber would pair such a lovely heroine with such a miserable hero - but she's also got such mad skills as a writer that I couldn't figure out why she'd write a romance where the male lead was a secondary character.

Well, apparently the saga of these characters continues on in the next two books. And I'm going to read them, so I can find out how I really feel about this one.

"Yay! A cute role in a corrupted version of one of my favorite novels ever." EXACTLY.

Anyway, I couldn't enjoy it properly because I was mentally warning Emma: "Do not fall for his looks! Do not for fall his charms! Do not fall for the Big Bad Boy!" Because Emma was confused until the final chapters of the book, I couldn't stop worrying about her. Thank goodness she chose Graham.

I want to know what happens to School Pride, but I don't feel like reading the sequel...

More like 3.5 stars. I wasn't captivated by this one as much as I was in "Easy." I do wish there had been more interaction between Emma and Graham... and I wasn't bowled over by the revelation in the end. Even saying that, I still thought the story was written very well.

I wanted to like this because I'm always a sucker for these sorts of premises... but the execution was really, really poor, which resulted in me having no connection with the characters at all. These teens' acting professions were used as a narrative ploy to get them to engage in some typical adolescent relationship shenanigans in a shared space that is not a school or summer camp. Everything just felt excruciatingly artificial. Disappointing, though I can say I didn't warn myself prior to giving this a try.

This book had it's moments. One minute I was about ready to put it down and the other I just needed to know. I finished it, but felt there was so much that could have been left out or been written differently. Not the worst book, but definitely not the greatest. It was good enough for me to finish though. I really liked the twist towards the end and am very happy with the way things ended.

Between The Lines is what I would consider a pretty perfect Contemporary read for me. There's drama and there's romance with a slight love triangle, but it lacks the insta-love - which means Webber got it right for me.Emma is everything I wanted in a female lead. She's strong and can take up for herself, yet still has some of those typical teenage weaknesses and flaws that makes you relate to her completely as the story goes. Even if her decisions were a little different from what I think my own would be if I was put in her spot, I understood the decisions she made because they fit who she was and how she thinks. Reid definitely played his part well, and Graham and Brooke both surprised me with how much I enjoyed their characters in the story. I thought Brooke would have been the one girl in the story I wanted to strangle -- but it turned out to be someone completely different and unexpected, which would be Emma's stepmother. Wow, what a character she turned out to be!This story is one that is completely relatable in today's world. There are a lot of teen stars and this story takes on a realistic portrayal of what that world may be like. Over everything, I think the part about the story that I enjoyed most was that everything wasn't just a bed of roses. There was conflict and there were unexpected moments that I didn't see coming. I also enjoyed the fact that the story's ending didn't take the stereotypical route.. but that's about all I can say without messing up the ending. Everything tied up nicely and nothing was left completely unanswered. I think my only problem now is that I know that a second book will be coming out soon and I cannot wait! For the squeamish, note that there are some sexual situations along with scenes of teen drinking and some language. This would be a great read for the more mature YA audience.

I love books about Acting, Dancing, Singing etc so this was really cool Young Adult book with the background of Hollywood/acting.Each chapter being told from two points of views (Reid's and Emma's) provided two sides to the same story, proving that nothing is always as it seems, especially in Hollywood. Just enough friend/teen/typical young adult drama mixed in with on set drama of young adults in the lime light.

While this was a fun book, and the characters were definitely true-to-life (as much as they can be, I guess.. considering not that many teens are famous actors) - I would definitely recommend this for older or mature teens. I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series. You can definitely see the author's growth as a writer, comparing this novel to Easy.

I don't give out 5 stars lightly, but this book really earned the rating. I loved it. Webber is a master at character development and I got so wrapped up in the two leads that I found myself psychoanalyzing them while driving to work, while on my lunch break, while doing anything where my mind could wander.

Even though he's completely spoiled and arrogant, Reid Alexander was my favorite character in the book. Webber completely nails the guy voice and I really felt like I was in Reid's head. The way he justifies everything, the way he's drowning out his true emotions with sex and booze, was so brilliantly drawn so that I loved and hated him at the same time.

The second book comes out in two days and I am all over it.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. The most accurate I can be right now is very slow burn (any slower and there wouldn't be a story) and very little character development. And still, there was something there.

Very conflicted. Maybe the next book will make things clearer?

Though I didn't love this, I had a hard time putting it down. It read more YA than NA to me. The characters are filming a high school drama, and the story seemed to be a reflection of that.

I enjoyed Emma and the secondary cast of characters. Especially Graham and Emily.

Reid and Brook were harder to stomach, though I admit I didn't every actually dislike them. I saw the ending from a mile away and wasn't surprised by what happened, though I was pleased.

All in all an okay read. Not very memorable, but not necessarily a bad way to pass the time.

    I love Tammara Webber.

I promise you, nothing in this book will meet your expectations, but I don't mean that in a bad way. It's such a good read. The writing is wonderful, the characters are great.

I have to say I'm a Reid trooper. He seemed like such an unlikely hero. Reading his POV was like watching a train wreck. It was really hard to read. Every time he got a chance to screw up, I was hoping he wouldn't, but the reality is that he wouldn't just change overnight, and Tammara Webber kept crushing my hopes for him. I love his character so much, and I'll be reading the other books just for him. Also, I'm shallow and I love characters named Reid.

Tammara Webber, oh where do I begin? Well, for starters, I have learned in recent months that you write one crazy good book! Actually, I should say crazy good booksssss! I am forever hooked on her and will be pre-ordering anything further she releases, and all of this started with this book. I was roaming around looking for something a little more “adult” without going to a cheesy romance novel or full fledge “adult” read, and oh how well Tammara can fit that spot!Between the Lines is written from two POVs, so as I started reading I automatically assumed I was going to hate it, but it didn’t take long for me to change my mind. The opposing POVs provided just the right about of diversity in the read without totally losing the characters. Actually, I think it gave each character that much more. With Reid being on the far end of the Hollywood spectrum and Emma is the fresh face to Hollywood – alternating between the two was perfect without the typical jumbled mess I feel that altering can do! And the plot, well, that is in a class of its own for me! I loved that every time Tammara got you to a point where you were on track and ready to root for Emma’s decisions; she tosses something a plot twist in to keep you going. The change and growth through the book were fantastic and kept me going till the end. And while I’ve read book 1 & 2 already – I keep holding out on book 3 because I will be so sad to see this series end!

Between the Lines is a twisted love triangle placed in the Hollywood shine and glimmer. Emma Pierce is a independent and courageous young woman trying to make it in the acting world. When he lands her new part she may find it to be more than she anticipated. This is a novel about the reality of what is really entailed when shining behind a movie screen. Reid is your typically egotistical heartthrob that is used to the his sliver spoon lifestyle, but when Emma crosses his path she may just change his life. I personally spent the entire novel attracted to the character of Graham. The strong, steady, and consistent protector will create an instant attraction for the readers. The conclusion offers a very shocking and unexpected twist that will leave readers impressed with the ending.
