About this audiobook

Ordinary sixth-grader Simon Bloom has just made the biggest discovery since gravity-and it literally fell into his lap. Or onto his head, anyway. You see, Simon has found the Teacher's Edition of Physics, a magical reference book containing the very formulas that control the laws that govern the universe! By reciting the formulas out loud, he's able to do the impossible-like reverse the force of gravity to float weightlessly, and reduce friction to zoom across any surface!

But a book that powerful isn't safe with Simon for long. Before he knows it, he is being pursued by evil forces bent on gaining control of the formulas. And they'll do anything to retrieve them. Now, Simon and his friends must use their wits and the magic of science in a galactic battle for the book, and the future of the universe, in this funny, fast-paced science fiction adventure from first-time author Michael Reisman.

I have been writing since I was thirteen years old. My teachers in school through the years suggested that I pursue this talent. It is my sensitivity to nature and life’s situations that drives me to tell it as it is. I was raised in Brooklyn, New York and moved to the Bronx. Now I live in Westchester, New York. With soft music or in plain old-fashioned silence, one can be inspired to write. It is my goal to make one think and feel and wonder through my writings. As long as my heart beats, my mind creates; the pen shall never run out of ink.

Fast paced with snappy dialogue. Tongue in cheek.
Middle school characters. Lots of curriculum here, physics.

Simon, Owen and Alyson acquire magical powers related to science and how the universe works (Simon can control gravity, Owen velocity and Alyson harnesses electricity). Their new abilities and resulting disasters attract the attention of the Union, a group of members who make sure the universe runs smoothly. A page out of the HP canon but with an edge of sarcastic (and sometimes corny) humor.

Hilarious and has a lot of action. But also has lots of slipping and sliding.
  • Rating: 1 out of 5 stars

A thinly (very!) veiled attempt to teach children about physics.
