About this audiobook

God would like a word with you. What you believe about God affects the way you approach life--often in ways you don't realize. Are you convinced that God limits you, or liberates you? Is he more interested in correcting you or connecting with you? And when you hit a rough spot and start looking for help, do you believe God is against you or on your side? In The Gospel of Yes, Mike Glenn reveals God's most powerful word, which opens our eyes to everything he does. That word is YES. God said "yes" to creating a world for us to live in and "yes" to inviting us into a relationship with him. No matter what we face in life, the best way to live is captured in one word: yes. When you live in God's "yes" you find your identity, your true value, and your unique purpose on earth. You can stop trying to be someone else and enjoy being yourself as you join with God in doing the work of his kingdom. When God looks at you he always says "yes". It's time to live like you know it.

"I want to leave church feeling just a little bit guilty." - UnknownI haven't finished this book and I'm not sure when I will. Every time I pick it up I feel so convicted that my ideas about God are wrong.I grew up in a church of "fire and brimstone." God was a god of "don't do this" and "don't do that." He didn't approve of my life and therefore I would be going to Hell. It was my punishment for breaking His rules. I left the church shortly after my 18th birthday and didn't look back until I was well into my 30s. Since then, I've been baptized and renewed my connection with Christ with the understanding that my actions will not get me into Heaven. The only acts that mattered are Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection.Yet still I find myself thinking of God as a god of "No!" The idea that God is a god of "Yes" in everything, and that the "Yes" is way more important than the "No's" you exchange it for, baffles my mind.Mike uses the stories of the Bible, personal experience and a few parables to get his point across. God has been saying yes to us since the very beginning and wants to keep saying yes everyday.I am more than halfway through the book and hope to one day finish it, dragging my convictions with me all the way.I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review through their Blogging for Books program. The opinions expressed here are my own.

At first I was excited to start reading this book. I found out right after I started reading it that the author was a pastor from a nearby local church. I know several people who attend this church and have even attended one of their marriage classes. My excitement ended pretty quickly though. I was interested in the basic topic—which to some degree is about finding your identity, purpose and value. O.K. so far.Even when he explained what the “yes” was, made sense. It is your purpose and who God created you to be. I had to keep looking the meaning back up though, as most of the time when he kept talking about your “yes” it was way overstretched to fit the original meaning that he said it meant. It seemed to me like he was just trying to find a snazzy catchy title or phrase to fit everything into—and it didn’t all fit. That part was annoying to me.I enjoyed reading the personal stories included in every chapter. And, yes, they did fit in with the chapter topics at hand. I also enjoyed getting to know the author ever so slightly through his writings. This book was not great. This book was definitely not bad either. I found it to be good, just good. It was boring at times and sometimes annoying but there were some tidbits of useful information here and there. Other people may love this book and it may be perfectly what they need right now—that was just not me. The Gospel of Yes by Mike Glenn This book was given to me free from Blogging for Books for my honest review. This is a wonderful book which will teach you to live God’s way of living your life. It will show you that saying Yes to Him and no to life’s demands brings peace that is beyond understanding in human terms. You will learn how to change your negative ways to positive ways of Christ. Although I do not personally know Pastor Mike Glenn what he teaches is what anyone can understand. His book opens with his own questions of why me, why here, why now, who had God created Him to be. He did not know. He had just been lead during a bad year of his life by leading a congregation of hurting people through the aftermath of a leader’s sexual infidelity. What is amazing is that the church and the infidel partner all forgiven and reconciled though such hardships. I would recommend anyone who wants to understand why it is important to say Yes to God and his ways and no to secular ways needs to pick this up today. It will give you the way to find your identity, your true value, and your unique purpose on this earth. This will help you to stop people pleasing and enjoy being yourself as you join with God in doing the work of his kingdom. My advice is that is if you are always saying no to God and his church, then get saying Yes by getting back into the church and his words of freedom and his kingdom, they are the only way to real life.Written by Jackie Paulson © 2012
