About this audiobook
In his second book, Adam Carolla-author of New York Times bestseller In Fifty Years We'll All Be Chicks and chart-topping podcaster-reveals all the stories behind how he came to be the angry middle-aged man he is today.
Funnyman Adam Carolla is known for two things: hilarious rants about things that drive him crazy and personal stories about everything from his hardscrabble childhood to his slacker friends to the hypocrisy of Hollywood. He tackled rants in his first book, and now he tells his best stories and debuts some never-before-heard tales as well. Organized by the myriad "dumps" Carolla called home as a child-through the flophouse apartments he rented in his twenties, up to the homes he personally renovated after achieving success in Hollywood-the anecdotes here follow Adam's journey and the hilarious pitfalls along the way.
Adam Carolla started broke and blue collar and has now been on the Hollywood scene for over fifteen years. Yet he never lost his underdog demeanor. He's still connected to the working class guy he once was, and delivers a raw and edgy, fish-out-of-water take on the world he lives in (but mostly disagrees with), telling all the stories, no matter who he offends-family, friends or the famous.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A funny book about Adam Carolla's life, structured (no pun intended) according to the houses he lived in as he grew up. I thought this was a really unique way to frame the story - take your memories from each dwelling and put them into chapters that way. The transitions were natural and, as he grew more successful, it was interesting to see how his homes changed, yet he still stayed the same guy, working with his hands, working hard, period! The book might chronicle his rise from a poor boy to a famous comedian, but he's not telling you to dream for fame and it will come. The last paragraph sums up the entire book: "That's what my book is about - not getting better houses in the physical sense, but in the symbolic sense. Working hard and using your talents, whatever they may be, to pursue your dreams, whatever they may be, and to get a better life for yourself, in whatever form that takes for you."
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed the depth of this memoir - an interesting look into what it's like to grow up as a poor white guy in Los Angeles. What I did not enjoy was the rape 'jokes' scattered throughout.I have a feeling that's Carolla's style of humor.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Adam Carolla audiobooks are the best deal on Scribd. Carolla doesn't read his books so much as discuss them. This is great because it sounds like listening to a podcast. Plus Carolla is hilarious. This one has a special appearance by Dr. Drew.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pretty good read. As usual, Adam’s humor really helps sell this. Mind you, this is an abridged audiobook. Even then, he makes jokes about skipping certain parts that would be in the main book. It certainly makes me want to go read the actual full book now.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5If you like Mr. Carolla's podcast, this book is largely redundant. However, borrow it from the library and read the last 15 pages which are oddly beautiful and sweet.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Lots of funny stories but not as good as Adam's last book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So funny I love ace
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5An autobiography by Adam Carolla. He discusses his life in southern California, starting with his boyhood with his depressed, hippy mother and laid-back dad, the shitty houses they lived in (with pictures), his shitty apartments, his construction work, stripper girlfriend, and his getting together finally with Jimmy Kimmel to launch his celebrity career.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I think I am going to add a shelf to my Goodreads account called "garbage." That's not to say that there's nothing redeeming in this book, I mean, it has its funny moments, plenty of them. Furthermore, I am a dumpster diver hobbyist, so I enjoy looking through trash sometimes. All I am saying is, this book is garbage. It's raunchy and crass and, well, garbage.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Not as funny has his first book, but it has its moments and some of them are extremely funny. Not for people with a weak stomach.
