- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The kid who only hit homersThis book is about a kid name Sylvester. He loved to play baseball but he was not that good. Then a boy named George Baruth said he was going to teach Sylvester how to play good. After taking his advice, he was hitting homerun after homerun. This kid was one of the best no because of a person. After all, of that he beat every team, and was one of the best on his team. He even made starting lineup.Catherine Christopher illustrated this book. This book is another old book. This book was good. I enjoyed reading when he hit his first homerun. Everyone chanted his name at the end and was no longer a horrible player. This book was great. I encourage all readers to read this book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Kid Who Only Hit Homers is a story about a boy Sylvester who was not good at baseball until meeting a mystery man (seemingly a ghost of Babe Ruth) who teaches him how to hit home runs and become an overall better baseball player. This is a book I loved as a kid, and enjoy re reading as an adult. For fans of baseball and sports in general, it is a good read and takes the reader into Syl's world. I would recommend this book for any collection, especially those keen on including sports book. I think a good target audience is ages 8 - 13.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Probably a good choice for a baseball fan who is a reluctant reader, but it is so dated.
