Classic James Patterson book. It took me only a few hours to read, and it kept me turning pages. I never felt invested in any of the characters, and the conclusions were not very satisfying for me. His earliest books were his best. With that said, his books are very light reading and I am sure I will continue reading them.

I'm quickly becoming addicted to this fast paced who done it series. The Women's Murder club is back in business and this time they are taking on a huge private hospital. Is it all just negligence or is it murder? That's what the women intend to find out. A quick easy read that I didn't want to put down. Can't wait to pick up book 6.

This is the fifth entry in the Women's Murder Club series and it did not disappoint. This story featured two different cases for Lieutenant Boxer and the SFPD. Working girls being date raped, murdered and posed in luxurious cars gets resolved rather quickly which leaves alot of room for the other case. Random patients are dying shortly after being cleared for release from the hospital. Very intriguing up until the ending.

I like that they are drawing the lawyer closer and really embracing their roles. I love their dinners!Second Date: How many cases do you need in a book? This has got to be one of the most annoying things about this series. There is just too much going on and something always has to give.Third Date: Another quick wrap up *Sigh* I am hoping the next book just focuses on one case instead of two. I don't think it will but a girl can hope.Audio Thoughts: Narrated By Carolyn McCormack/Running Time 8 hrs and 5 minsCarolyn did a fine job but the music additions kill me every time. This is the last one I have on audio so I will probably be switching to print after this one.Final Thoughts: I love the characters but the series is not wowing me like it did in the beginning.

Another hit for James Patterson's Womens Murder Club!! All of they characters right down to the bad guys have a distinct personality all their own! I only have one qualm with this installment, but im not going to tell you! Only encourage you to go pick up a copy for yourself and see if you agree! If you haven't had the opportunity to read any of this series, I suggest you start from the beginning and watch the story of Lieutenant Lindsay Baxter unfold! Fascinating!!

I hadn't read a Patterson in a while when I picked this up and it immediately brought back all of the reasons that I like his books. After a bit of a let-down for me with 4th of July, the Women's Murder Club is back in fine form. Patterson's characters are all likeable and easy to root for. The writing style is what I would call very comfortable and the storyline moves along at the usual Patterson frenetic pace. Once I start, I usually don't want to put one of his books down and The 5th Horseman is no exception.I read a lot over lunch at work and another caveat of reading his novels is that the chapters are usually short and it's always easy to find a place to stop (even if you REALLY don't want to!)Anyway, I guess this isn't a review for The 5th Horseman exactly, but more of a review of James Patterson novels in general. He writes books that are incredibly fun and engaging to read and I would recommend picking one up! If you can start at the beginning of one of his series, that would be best, but another caveat of his writing is that he does a great job of filling the reader in on what's going on, so if you pick up a series in the middle, you're still ok.

I have mixed feelings about James Patterson's books. I know he writes with a co-author and I know that some of his books - specifically his novels for teens - can be quite silly. That being said, I do enjoy some of his books and his Women's Murder Club series is one that I do like. The 5th Horseman is the fifth book in the series. It starts out with Lindsey Boxer, the usual narrator, on the job as lieutenant on the police force. She's investigating a series of murders where the victims are left in cars for anyone to find. It was very disturbing. I had to put the book down a few times. The other storyline involves a hospital where healthy patients with non-life threatening conditions or injuries are dying, usually by an "accidental" mix up with medications. Yuki's mother is taken to that hospital and the story takes off from there.I feel like this is a solid addition to the series although there wasn't anything that moved the series along. Nothing much changed with the women, with the exception of Yuki. If you've been reading the series, you should continue. The authors tells a good story. If you haven't read the series, go on back to 1st to Die. They are quick reads and you'll get an idea of whether or not the series is for you.

A very entertaining read.I wasn't happy with Mr.Patterson's Step on a Crack novel, nor his 6th Target, so for this novel I invested my money the old fashion way and put my name on the hold list at the library. I'm glad I did.If you haven't already known that this novel is one of Patterson's Women's Murder Club series, and the story introduces the latest member, Yuki Castellano. Yuki's mother has a mild stroke and while she is recovering in hospital, she suddenly dies at a hospital. Well it turns out that there is a record of pharmaceutical errors at this hospital and a doctor has been on trial for malpractice in numerous cases, but he keeps on dispensing medicine. Yuki is upset and begins to have this gut feeling that her mother didn't die of natural causes, but that her mother was actually murdered. Now, she demands justice and the doctor is her prime suspect. Lindsay Boxer, the police lieutenant in the Woman's Club group, is convinced that this doctor had committed the crime that caused a series of deaths, including Yuki's mother. However to gather the evidence becomes a real problem in the story and the reader must stay with the story to find out how the main characters of the Women's Club solve this crime.. That's a pretty brief description.I found the book intriguing, but I also found a number of parts, and subchapters rather boring that moved along at an even pace. I also thought that there were a number of the secondary plots that didn't make sense for their inclusion in the book. However there are twist and turns toward the end of the book that kept me reading, but I wouldn't consider that small highlight (Which I expect from a mystery storyteller) of the book of any value to recommend it to someone to purchase or to waste their valuable time.

A pretty typical novel. Again, you don't really have to read the series in order, but it helps. This one does seem a bit shallow when it comes to the plot, but still an enjoyable read. Three out of five.

I love James Patterson Books. The 5th Horseman was a great book. The book was fast paced and kept you turning pages. There were three stories wrapped into this one story and any of the three could have been a novel alone. I think I would actually have preferred that, as some of the storylines felt a little shallow. Even with that the story was good and the pace was fast so it kept me reading late into the night!

Reading a book by James Patterson is always a pleasure because it is so quick and easy to read. This is another crime fiction novel in the Women's Murder Club series, and although I prefer the Alex Cross series, this book was ok. The last few James Patterson books have been co-authored, and this one was co-authored by Maxine Paetro. The best Patterson co-author book I've read so far would have to be The Jester, co-written with Andrew Goss. The Jester was set in medieval times, (instant plus) but Goss seemed to add so much to Patterson's easy writing style to make for a spectacular plot.It was disappointing that Paetro didn't seem to add anything to this plot, except perhaps for the 'girlie' influence which drove me nuts. I don't know any girl that refers to her friend as 'butterfly' or who goes for a run after 30 hours without sleep then has a pizza. f you aren't already a fan of James Patterson, this book won't convert you.

People are dying in the hospital and who is making their end come quicker than it is supposed to come? They are supposed to be released with a clean bill of health, but instead die mysteriously. Accompanied by the newest member of the Women's Murder Club, Yuki Catellano, Lt. Lindsay Boxer probes deeper into the incidents. Coincidence or a maniac? Once again, James Patterson keeps us on the edge with suspense and one more time the Women's Murder Club entertains us and keeps us wanting more. A good read, and not one to be missed.

The 5th Horseman has the WMC working on a case that invovles the hospital and the death of Yuki's mother. It also has a malpractice suit in it against the hospital. Very good book. I figured some other parts would be added together and was suprised when some of them weren't.

Lt. Lindsay Boxer and gang investigate murders of young women who end up dolled-up in fancy sports cars-displayed in death. Also, side investigation turns full fledged pulling in all the Women's murder club and includes Yuki's mother's death.Typical Patterson pace and characterizations. The breakdown of Yuki seems uncharacteristic and her comeback seems out of place as well. The first case was solved fairly rapidly and only by a stroke luck with all dead ends at the beginning. This one isn't as good as the others, but I will still read the next one.

This book was okay, but not the best so far in the series. The major plot revolves around patients dying at San Francisco General hospital. Including someone that Lindsey knows. That brings a whole new dimension to the case and Lindsey vows to stop the killer. The other case going on involves girls being killed, dressed up and staged. I found myself more interested in this case than the hospital murders, and this one was just a sideline to the main show. I can't really say why I didn't like this one as much as some of the others, it just seems forgettable to me. There wasn't anything that left me breathless. In fact, I think I'll put off finishing this series for a while.

I like serial killer novels but this was just too hard for me to read. The chapters are very short, 1 to 2 pages long. This makes the story jump about a bit too much for my liking. The general plot of the book was also fragmented. There is a second storyline in the book that seems to just have been added as filler. I think I will pass on books by this author in the future if this is representative of his works.

Journal entry 3 by SKingList from New York, New York USA on Tuesday, March 07, 2006Ehh, wasn't overly impressed with this one. Granted I chewed it up as I do with every other Patterson but there was just something missing. And as was the case with "Mary, Mary", the ending felt contrived and somewhat rushed.Don't know if I've burnt out on Patterson or what, but I much prefer his earlier stuff. That said, I'll still probably get some of his new releases as they come out.

This book was merely "meh" for me. I didn't understand why there was a second, 100% unrelated storyline that is wrapped up halfway through the book. I kept waiting for something to connect the two. It's like Patterson had these two storylines he wanted to do, but couldn't get enough out of either one for a standalone book. And haven't there been enough "Angel of Death" stories? There was nothing special about this one, and there was never an explanation of why. And Yuki's announcement at the end seemed a little sudden.Phew, maybe I disliked it a little more than I thought!

A young mother is recuperating in a San Francisco hospital when she is suddenly gasping for breath. The call button fails to bring help in time. The hospital's doctors, some of the best in the nation, are completely mystified by her death. Accompanied by the newest member of the women's Murder Club, Yuki Castellano, Lt. I like the Women's Murder Club pretty well, but the first 3 were better than the 4th and 5th.

The usual meeting of the Women's Murder Club..... Lindsay has a gut feeling... Yuki's mom dies and "hospital murders" now become personal. Investigation into whodunnit... leaves you hanging until the very end. Unrelated murder duo killing young "working girls" and leaving them dressed in expensive clothing and staged in expensive cars... their storyline ends 2/3rds of the way through the book very suddenly and with little effort on the part of the murder club. This is another "mindless" but entertaining read.

Having read a great many of James Patterson's previous novels, I went into this one not expecting great literature, but rather a story that would keep me turning the pages. I guess I can't say that I was disappointed in that regard, but I do feel like Patterson (or whoever did the bulk of the writing on this one) wasn't up to form. It was basically two non-cohesive stories jammed together to form one mediocre novel. The constant flipping from first to third person was distracting, and there was no character development. I did feel compelled to finish the book to find out 'who done it?', but it was very anticlimactic in the end. Not his best work by a long shot.

333 pages, 139 chapters -- perhaps that is telling enough about the plot development. Made for TV literature... OK, far from great
