About this audiobook

School is finally over, and Will Carter has (barely) survived his freshman year. Unfortunately, he quickly learns that the summer break he’s been craving just might break him. When he and his girlfriend, Abby, part ways, Carter can’t help but think his summer is ruined.

Things start to look up after he’s unexpectedly cast in an independent film opposite the world’s biggest tween sensation, Hilary Idaho. With Hollywood knocking on his door, Carter gets a taste of the good life. Suddenly, his small town, friends, and family don’t seem as great as they used to. As tends to happen when Carter is around, things spiral out of control, and he begins to fear that he’s not the “somebody” he thinks he is but more the “nobody” he’s pretty sure he always has been. But maybe, with the help of a few friends, he’ll start to see things in a whole new light.

Carter just got his big break - he'sgoing to star in a movie with Hilary Idaho! Unfortunately, he has also argued and broken up with Abby. Moviemaking turns out quite differently than he thought, and he learns a great deal about the supposed adults running the show.

I laughed just as hard at this one as I did at the first and definitely enjoyed the tweaking of the Disney factory system - Mickey Mouse Club is to the Get-Up Gang as Hilary Idaho is to Hannah Montana. Carter continues to be both lovable and a dumbass - so basically a pretty typical teenage boy. Nick Podehl continues to be awesome. I have yet to listen to something he's narrated and not love it.

Okay, seriously, did you like Carter Finally Gets It? Do you enjoy some crass guy-humor, particularly tempered with actual emotional content that guys can relate to without feeling squicky about it?

Most importantly, do you like to listen to Nick Podehl's voice?

Then pick up the audio. It's great. It's not worth talking about what Carter does or doesn't do, or the number of cringe-inducing things that come out of his mouth. He's engaging, he's loveable, and this has the best narrator of all time. The end.

Carter survived his freshman year of HS. When a Hollywood producer decides to shoot a movie in his town over the summer and the writer asks Carter and his girlfriend Abby to audition for the leads, he's elated! But then he screws things up with her and they break up. He manages to land the lead role, but Abby doesn't - she's replaced by teen star Hilary Idado. As Carter and Hilary become friends, he discovers being a movie star isn't always easy or glamorous. He faces some tough decisions that help build his character.
