      I really enjoyed the story and was drawn in from the start. Was the story predictable? Yes but I enjoyed the story and the characters.

      Yet another book by Nicholas Sparks that was hard to put down. It was an interesting take on life as a soldier for Logan and yet to also see the story from two more different view points. This book showcases how in the end, love is all that really matters and if meant to find a destiny, a way can be found. I am very much looking forward to seeing the movie!

      After finding a picture during his stay in Iraq, marine Logan Thibault, in the words of his fellow solider and superstitious best friend, Victor, "had found himself a lucky charm." Although Thibault didn't quite believe it himself, he felt as though it were his destiny to find the woman in the picture, with the urging of his friend after the numerous times Logan had stayed alive when it would have been more probable for him to have died. What his destiny with her was, he didn't know, but he was soon to find out. I had to read this book for my book club, and been excited since I haven't read Nicholas Sparks in a few years, and I recalled that I liked his writing before. If it wasn't for the fact that this book was placed in North Carolina, had church-going, marine characters, and had his name on the front cover, I wouldn't have known it was Nicholas Sparks who wrote this book. Although it was pretty quick to read, I was extremely disappointed with it, and am now unsure of where I stand on him as an author. Much of the dialogue literally resembled the quality of dialogues I had written while I was in middle school, and the characters were flat, egoic, predictable, and stereotypical. The plot was mediocre, and predictable as well, and many scenes felt choppy, unedited and rushed, including the ending and epilogue. It was unclear whether Logan survived, especially with the line: "It was Logan's legacy to Ben, and as such it held special meaning for him." until he just was waiting for Elizabeth to come home from the cemetery, which maybe would have been suspenseful had it not been terribly written, and in the matter of Keith Clayton, what did the town or the Clayton family have to say afterwards? The epilogue in this story was useless. I would definitely not recommend anyone spending their time on this book. I wonder what Hollywood was thinking when they made this into a movie. (A movie I will not be seeing.)

      This story was so predictable; it's my least favorite Nicholas Sparks book to date. It seemed to follow the same plot as Message in a Bottle except without the good stuff: the tragedy and emotions. One major difference is that there is a villain in this book, which would have been better had he not just been killed off. There was no sweet justice after having to suffer through reading about what a slimeball he was. This is the first Sparks book I haven't cried at. For two reasons, I think. The two protagonists were bores, so I couldn't really care all that much about their relationship. Also, there was no beautifully written declaration of love between the characters that seem to be characteristic of Sparks's books. That is usually when I start tearing up in his novels. Even the setting was pretty blah. Usually I enjoy his North Carolina coastal settings, but this one didn't seem as interesting or beautiful as the others. I guess the dog kennel thing was kind of fun though.

      I would have given The Lucky One two stars, but I bumped it up to three for two supporting characters I really liked: Zeus the German shepherd and Nana, the sharp-witted, wise granny.

      Although I was quite skeptical at first, and I found myself having a hard time continuing to read the first chapter, but as I continued, the story got fantastic. It really kept my attention and desire to keep reading. I liked the way that each chapter was from a different character's point-of-view. It has been awhile since I've read a book by Nicholas Sparks but I definitely remember why I've always said that Nicholas Sparks has always been my favorite author. I would definitely recommend this book to others!

      I couln't put the book own until I was done. Great story. Kept me guessing until the end. New for Sparks: villain (clayton - exhusband). The ending was a bit rushed. It wasn't very clear first who died. I liked the ending, even if it's a little bit too much of a "happy ending".

      Inspirational and motivating novel. It goes along with the lives of a marine, Logan Thibault, and Elizabeth Green. Logan's determination to walk from Colorado to Hampton just to find the anonymous girl in the photograph he had found in Iraq, which saved his life numerous times. Although, he didn't know what he was going to do when he found the girl, but when they fall in love, he knew that it was his destiny to find her, just as Victor his friend had told him. The passionate romantic novel ended with a fabulous ending.

      Nicholas Sparks never ceases to amaze the heck out of me!!! What a lovely book and an "I-cant-seem-to-put-the-book-down" story. I feel as though Sparks did an awesome job of putting this story together and giving each one of the characters a chance to tell their story. The way Logan came to find the picture and then Elizabeth was everything and touching at the same time. The way their relationship developed was very sweet and I loved how he treated Beth's son. Zeus was an awesome addition as well, and most can't say that about dogs, but somehow Sparks made him memorable.I lost sleep with this book due to not wanting to put it down but don't regret it one bit. This is a book that I would definitely recommend to others and hope my next Sparks read "A Bend in the Road" is just as good. I'm sure it will be.

      This book is about a young Marine who finds a picture of a young lady while in Iraq. He picks up the photo putting it on a bulletin board in hopes that the owner will find it. Days later, it's still there so he takes it, feeling drawn towards it for some reason. This young man, Logan, keeps the photo safe in his pocket and is later told how it is obviously a lucky charm for him because he has been saved many times when other comrades haven't been so lucky. Logan, being single without kids finishes his time and sets off to find this woman in the picture with his trusty companion, Zeus a german shepard. Logan walks half way around the country to find this woman whom he feels he owes something to. And whom Victor, Logan's best friend says it's his destiny to find this woman.Logan is this strong, caring, mysterious guy who is willing to work for almost nothing, as we see throughout the book. He has been through so much in his short life and has no one to confide in, so of course he is drawn into the family life of Beth, her son Ben and Nana. It's not surprising then when Logan doesn't admit why he's there in the first place, and slowly begins to fall in love. Beth is a perfect match for Logan, I feel. For all she has done to protect her family, Logan is the best thing to come along and make her feel special again. Ben is a great and crucial addition to the story too, but apart from Logan, Zeus has to be my favourite. He is such a loyal dog and is by Logan's side the whole time. All these characters fit right into the setting of a little southern town. And with the narrative being different, switching between Beth, Logan and Clayton, the ex-husband, we are continuously engaged in the story. Nicholas Sparks is a unique author. Not in the sense that his stories are unique, (because they are all in the end so similar to the last) but his ability to tell the story is unique and makes us all fall back into reading another one of his stories. I'll be honest here, the reason I read this book was because of the movie. I hadn't read a Sparks book in quite some time and happened to see a movie (Titanic 3D to be exact) and saw the movie trailer for The Lucky One, and I'm not going to lie, it was kind of those sexy sex scenes that made me want to get all over him, err, I mean all over the book.But seriously, the book is so intense and well written that I was glad to read it. If your looking for that romantic love story, with the added suspense (the last chapter and the epilogue will have you racing through the pages!) or just need a great, quick and easy read, try The Lucky One. (The movie is also really good!)

      The Lucky One is about a guy that is fighting in the war, when all of a sudden he finds a picture of this women. He cant stop staring at it, at anytime of the day he pulls it out and will look at it. When you gets back home from war he finds himself wanting to find her. So he walks across the country to find her. When he does find her, he ends up falling in love with her. Although there is an ex husband that will not let her have a realationship. But when her ex husband jumps into a raging creek to save their son, and he dies. Which leaves the women and the guy to have a happy life with her son. I really liked this book because it's a love story, and what kind of girl doesnt like a love story. I didnt really connect to this book, but i can kind of relate to it. I have a boyfriend that i really care about and will always be there for him no matter what. Just like in the book with Beth and Logan they fell in love and they are always there foe eachother.I would recommend this book to anyone that is into love or happy ever afters. I really enjoyed what characters they chose and how the story ended. If you like reading about love then this is the book for you!

      This book was only okay, nothing really great. At times I found myself basically having to force myself to read it in order to get through it. The characters seemed like the typical chick lit romance characters found in many books. The only part I showed much interest in was the ending. It wasn't a bad book it was just not my cup of tea.

      In all honesty when I was about 50 pages into this book, I thought that I might put it down and not finish it. I was bored and didn't feel a compulsive need to read on. Nicholas Sparks books usually grab my interest right away and i'm usually completed invested in the story and characters within a few pages, this book took me a little while longer to get invested into, but when I did I found that I really enjoyed the story. I loved the characters of this story, I loved Logan and his passionate, care-free ways and also his past with the marines. I loved Elizabeths' strength and how good of a mother she was, and I also loved her son, Ben. Even Logans' dog, Zeus was a loveable character, he was so smart and attentive. In true Nicholas Sparks form the end of the book held a nice twist of events, that lead me to rate this book 4 instead of the 3 stars I had planned on giving it pretty much all throughout the book. This wasn't my favorite Nicholas Sparks book by a long shot, but I still really enjoyed it and found that it was a nice break from the YA and fantasy books i've been reading a lot of lately. You need a good Nichola's Sparks romance book every once in a while, and this one was no exception.

      While on tour in Iraq, U.S. Marine Logan Thibault notices a photo partially sticking out of the sand. An attractive girl is posed in front of a sign that said "Lucky Lady.' There was an inscription "Keep Safe, E."When Logan doesn't succeed in finding the owner, he places the phot in his pocket before he goes into action.Other members of his unit are killed and wounded but Logan escapes injury. He comes to feel that the girl in the photo is protecting him.After his discharge, he decides to find the woman. He isn't sure why but it's as if fate is drawing him to her.He sets about walking from his home in Colorado with his dog, Zeus. He found that the photo was taken in Hampton North Carolina and that is his destination.Upon arrival, his first encounter is with Deputy Keity Clayton, a sneaky man and a bully who was taking photos of unsuspecting coeds who were sunbathing. Catching Clayton in this position embarasses him and it makes him feel an animosity toward Logan.Logan finds that the woman from the photo owns a kennel and she has a help wanted sign. He accepts a job working for her but doesn't tell her of the photo. Eventually, he becomes an indespensible part of her operation and friends with her son and grandmother. Later, he and Beth develop a relationship.The pacing of the novel is precise and there is a gradual build-up before a momentus conclusion. The reader doesn't know if Clayton will have his revenge on Logan and disrupt the relationship he had with Beth.

      This was a wonderful story of love, luck, and family. Logan Thibault found a picture in Iraq when he was serving for 5 years, and it was said tob e is lukcy charm.. So His friend told him he had to find her because he owed her for saving his life. So Thibault walks from his home in Colorado all the way to New Hamshire, with is dog, Zues, to find this girl. He finds Elizabeth and learns that she lives her grandmother and has a son and she had divorced her husband a couple of years ago. They both eventaully fall in love with eachother and are both really happy. Until the secret gets spilled....but this is a great book that keep you interested all the way through!

      I loved this book. As always Nicholas Sparks doesn't disappoint. The ending surprised me. I kept thinking back to The Guardian. I was thinking it was going to end in that way......surprise. I absolutely love this and would read it again & again.

      Nicholas sparks book "the lucky one" has a very entertaining story about a man at war who finds a picture of a woman, later on the pictures then brought him luck. After he finished his war, he travels back and decides to find the woman in the picture. He then sets off walking with only his dog as companion until he finds the woman. He then applies for a job at her house as a kennel volunteer. As time goes by they become more connected to each other and before you know it they are dating. But sooner or later he has come to realize that maybe he was meant to meet her, and that he owes her something since her picture has bought him luck. They later fall in love until Elizabeth (the woman) finds out that he has a picture of her and that he has been looking for her. They get in a fight, but Elizabeth soon forgives him after he saves her sons life from drowning in a flood. I thought this book was really well written, and I really recommend it. The thing i didn't like was it was sometime repeating the main characters problem.

      The Lucky One...what a perfect title...for that is what i feel i am having had the priviledge to have read it. Nicholas Sparks once again has proven to me that he is a top-notch writer. this is truly a book that is very difficult to put down. the story revolves around a photograph that a sister gives of herself to her brother, a soldier heading for the middle east. somehow the photo is lost to him as is his life. the photo is found by another soldier sometime later in the desert of Iraq. after trying to find its owner and failing he finds that all the while that it is in his possesion he remains safe even though those around him perish. the photo of the beautiful woman soon gains interest among the other soldiers as well and is said to be "good luck" to the one who has it on them. at first the young soldier "logan" doesnt buy it but his best friend soon convinces him that there might be something to it. when they return home to colorado and some unfortunate events happen logan sets off on a long trek across country to find this woman whom he feels somehow he owes his life to. upon finding her he becomes drawn to her and driven to understand the strange feelings that has lead him there for a purpose. he comes to realize that there might be much more to the reason he was supposed to come to her town then to just meet her. although the rest of the story i will leave for you to read yourself (for i would be robbing you of the pleasure if i told you how it ended), i will tell you that the ending is mixed with suspense, fear, sadness, regret and forgiveness. i really thought i was going to have to write the author and tell him that he had written the ending all wrong but although the ending surprised me it turned out the way it was meant to be. i would recommend this and any of Nicholas Sparks books to anyone. a must read.

      Another Nicholas Spark formula book, but he does his formula well. I love the way he can place you right in the Carolina piedmont, remembering sweet tea and coastal rivers. I was quickly taken in by the idea of a guy and his dog who walked all the way from Colorado -- I always enjoy a book better when I can like the characters. Nothing surprising, but it was a good summer read that kept me involved.

      Reading this made me want to be back in the south eating boiled peanuts and drinking sweet tea. Nicholas Sparks is an expert at placing the reader in the exact location of the story. Maybe it is because I already have a sense for what the south is like, but I'm sure others can get the same feel by reading his books.This one in particular was very good. It's only the second book of his that I have read (the other being A Walk to Remember) and while they have a certain cheese factor to them and definitely some predictability, they are always well written. Never my favorites, but always worth reading.
