      This is another great storyline with many twist and turns to maintain interest

      Amazing! Thank god for Amanda Quick! I have never known an author that is good at writing Historical Romance and Contemporary Romance. I love how this series flows between past, present, and future, all great stories as their own and a greater narrative together.

      The characters feel so real, almost like reading about yourself and those around you that you know and love as if these people that are in these stories would make wonderful friends in real life.

      Synopsis
      A direct descendent of Nicholas Winters (the arch-nemesis of Sylvester Jones), Jack Winters is subject to the family curse, i.e. he will develop secondary psychic talents that will ultimately cause him to go insane. The only solution is to locate the Burning Lamp and a Dreamlight reader who can stabilize Jack's abilities. Chloe Harper is the only one powerful enough to manipulate the lamp but can she help Jack before it is too late?

      Note: This is the first book in the Dreamlight Trilogy but the 7th book in the Arcane Society series. While it is not necessary to read the previous books to understand the basic story, reading them may provide background that will make it easier to grasp the complete story arc.

      Fired Up is another action-packed and entertaining addition to the series. the writing mainly flows despite one or two editing issues. One problem with the writing is the overly technical descriptions of the dreamlight energy and its manipulation.

      The romance between Chloe and Jack is captivating. They have intense chemistry as well as an emotional and psychic bond that makes their connection even stronger. Chloe is fiercely independent with a profound need to rescue others (mangy dogs, homeless people, runaway girls, etc.). While Jack's character is not as developed, he is still a strong hero and I liked the fact that he is proactive about the curse.

      The plot is similar to the other installments in the series and as such the outcome is predictable. However, there are certain original aspects such as the dream motif (which could have been better developed) and the Winters' family curse (the excerpts from Nicholas Winter's diary at the beginning of the book, set the stage very nicely).

      Overall, an enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the next book (the historical prequel), and to finally reading Fallon's story (he seems to get more grumpy and reclusive as the series progresses).

      I pretty much love anything that Jayne Ann Krentz writes, under any of her various names. This book is a sub-series of the Arcane books, the first in the Dreamlight Trilogy.

      Chloe is a sensitive who can work dreamlight, Jack is a strong strategic talent who is having problems with his dreams. He hunts down Chloe to help him find an antique lamp that used to belong to his family in the hopes that the lamp along with Chloe's talent will "cure" him.

      J&J is involved as is Nightshade. As usual there is a lot of the "whoo whoo" stuff but there is also a fairly good mystery and a romance of the two main characters.

      If you like the Arcane books you should like this one as well. Me, I have them on my "auto buy" list.

      Private Investigator Chloe Harper has a talent for dreamlight reading and a penchant for hard-luck cases. When the descendent of mad scientist Nicholas Winters walks in to her office and asks her to help him find his ancestor's Burning Lamp she has her doubts, but takes the case. As it turns out, the Lamp is easy to find, but the repercussions are far harder to deal with.Another solid paranormal romance from Krentz. If you like her formula, you're very likely going to enjoy this one, as well.

      I am a fan of Jayne Ann Krentz, but this book wasn't one of my favorites. First in a trilogy, but I'm not compelled to seek out the others. I like paranormal mystery and romance, but this one was a little too hard to follow. The mystical was overdone, in my opinion. But, still well-constructed and interesting.

      While I've read Krentz's Jayne Castle series, I had never read one of her contemporaries. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and adventure. Krentz is very good at characterization and the mix of romance and action was well done.

      The heroine, Chloe Harper, is fantastic. She's a paranormal who can see and harness your dreamlight, it's like your aura but more on your dream energy. She is a workaholic and because of her ability she is a serial monogamist. Jack Winters is also an interesting character. He is the descendant of Nicholas Winters who started the entire thing and is also one formidable paranormal. The romance between these two is sweet because given their gifts, it would indeed be hard to find a decent partner that you're compatible with. So it's no surprise that they found their soulmate in each other although they both tried to ignore the chemistry.

      It was the first of her books that I read but I found that it was easy to read even though it was part of a longer series. I loved the plot and the pace the book set was good. The characters were cute and interesting. Overall a cute fun read.

      I found it tough at the beginning as I have not read any previous Arcane Society stories and I think it would have helped to, for background on the various factions and abilities. However once I got a few things figured it was entertaining enough, nothing special but an easy read.

      Somewhat better than a lot of Krentz's recent books. The heroine seemed like less of a cookie cutter character -- more proactive and competent in a non-spiritual way. The mystery also was less transparent and some of the supporting characters were interesting.

      This is the modern version of Burning Lamp and further adverntures of several families involved. Jack Winters is the latest of the Winters generations and is worried. He's recently experienced blackouts and nightmares, he believes it's down to the Winters family curse. Chloe Harper is a dreamlight reader and it appears she's his best hope for a cure or for survival.This story brings the story of the Winters family curse up to date and deals with the chemical help that some people are trying to invoke their psychic talents, that appeared in previous books. This takes that story forward as well as looking at the modern Winters and dealing with his coming to terms with his abilities.It's a bit repeditive and sounds a lot like the story in Burning Lamp only with a modern twist. I hope there are more twists to the SciFi version done by her other alter ego Jayne Castle.

      Chloe Harper is a private investigator and psychic, whose family has spent generations avoiding involvement with the Arcane Society and the Jones family. The nature of her talent makes her unsuited to a long-term relationship, but it is just what her new client is looking for. Jack Winters desperately needs to find a missing psychic artifact that was created by his remote ancestor, a rival of Sylvester Jones. But there are others with designs on the artifact, and on Jack and Chloe.One of the weaker entries in Krentz's long-running Arcane Society series. The plot is too busy and cluttered, and the emotional core is somewhat lacking. Nevertheless, this is worth reading and probably stands alone reasonably well. I am looking forward to the remaining two books in the Dreamlight Trilogy
