About this audiobook

Paige Donahue has always lived in her sister Camille's shadow. As children, Camille had the grades, the friends, and their parents' love, while Paige was left with hand-me-downs and criticism. Now as adults, Camille lives an idyllic life with her husband, Pierce, and her two perfect children in a beautiful home, while Paige is stuck in a small condo with bills she can't afford to pay. But no more. With seeds of doubt planted in both Camille's and Pierce's minds, Paige's plan to steal her brother-in law starts to work. But when he reveals his decision to make his marriage work, a desperate Paige moves from envy to madness. What results from her dangerous scheme is something no one could have imagined.

This is a 2.5 read, nothing original. I agree with many reviewers that the "advertising" was a bit much. The voice of Camille was extremely annoying as was her character. Hard to listen.

Scary is the words come to mind. What more when it happened to two sisters. At first, i didn't realise just how screwed up Paige's mind is until i reach the midsection. Only then, i realise that this is not a book with genre that i normally read. It is indeed about how phychotic one can become and disturbed mind can do to a person. Paige, plotted a scheme to ruin the marriage of her elder sister and tried to claim her position as well as the husband. In order to do so, she insisted to have the help from her friend to staged a rape, crawled into the lifer of her sister and husband and then, started to plant seed of doubts into both of them which has eventually ruined their marriage.I was a little disturbed when i read thru the 3/4 of the book, where Paige begin to claim that both she and her sister' husband have an affair and that he should stay with her rather than her sister. It is just so absurb that i really hate this character this book. The author of this book has indeed managed to evoke the angry and annoyed feeling within the reader and at the same time, the uneasy feeling that one wonder that whether it happen in reality.

There are times in most families when siblings may not get along. There may be petty arguments and occasionally jealousies, but nothing quite like the emotions shown by Paige Donahue toward her sister Camille in Secret Obsession by Kimberla Lawson Roby.Paige has been secretly jealous of her big sister Camille for most of her life. Now, as adults, Paige is not only envious of Camille and her good fortune and marriage. Paige has also decided that she is in love with her brother-in-law and will stop at nothing to break up their marriage. She blackmails a friend into beating her up and files a false claim of rape and battery as the first step in her diabolical plan. As part of her second step she plants fake email messages between her sister and a would-be lover. She then sends copies of these emails to her brother-in-law. When he moves out, she moves in. Through it all Camille has been nothing but supportive to Paige and expects the same when her marriage begins to fall apart. Of course Paige plays the part but exactly how far is too far?Paige is not a likable character and saying she is diabolical is probably being too kind. However, Ms. Robson does provide a nice, neat and simplistic, epilogue proving that with God all things are possible. I wish I could provide more about the resolution but if I did, you wouldn't need to read this story. It may be a little too happy ever after for some, but it was actually quite nice to read about hope, faith and family. There are plenty of evil machinations in Secret Obsession, but there's also a lesson on love and forgiveness. This may not be for everyone but if you're into stories dealing with dysfunctional family life, sin and forgiveness, then this is a nice and quick read that may suit.

Living Nightmare Born in her older sister’s shadow, Paige Donahue has always felt less than while Camille was the apple of her parents’ eye. Even now as adults, Camille is married to a wonderful man with two children, a boastful home, and whatever her heart desires. Paige is determined to finally land on top of the pyramid no matter who she has to hurt to get there. Will this family be able to handle the betrayal, lies and deceit? “Secret Obsession” is predictable from start to finish and wraps up with a happily ever after ending. I believe that had this story been told from multiple points of view, the drama and suspense would’ve been bumbling over. Instead, it just didn’t have enough finesse for this reader. I’m sure fans of Roby will like it just fine. Reviewed by: Crystal
