About this audiobook

In this captivating novel of romantic suspense, New York Times bestselling author Linda Howard brings us deep into the wild, where a smart and sexy outdoor guide and her ruggedly handsome competitor must join forces to survive-and avoid becoming what they never expected to be:

Prey

Thirty-two-year-old Angie Powell has always spoken her mind, but in the presence of Dare Callahan she nurses a simmering rage. After all, why give Dare the satisfaction of knowing he can push her buttons and push her to the edge?

Three years ago, Dare returned home to rural western Montana and opened a hunting business to rival Angie's. Complicating matters is the fact that Dare has asked Angie out (not once but twice) and has given her a gift of butterflies in the process. Angie has no patience for butterflies. They only lead to foolish decisions. And now the infuriatingly handsome Iraq war vet has siphoned away Angie's livelihood, forcing her to close up shop.

Before Angie is to leave town, she organizes one last trip into the wilderness with a client and his guest, who wants to bag a black bear. But the adrenaline-fueled adventure turns deadly when Angie witnesses a cold-blooded murder and finds herself on the wrong side of a loaded gun. Before the killer can tie up this attractive loose end, a bear comes crashing through the woods-changing the dark game completely.

Luckily, Dare is camping nearby and hears the shots. Forced together for their very survival, Angie and Dare must confront hard feelings, a blinding storm, and a growing attraction-while being stalked by a desperate killer and a ferocious five-hundred-pound beast. And neither will stop until they reach their prey.

Very enjoyable as an audiobook. It really kept my attention to the point of sitting in my car once I arrived at my destination because I wanted to hear more. Fun characters with Angela and Dare. I was thinking this would be scary but it wasn't. It was more of a romance. Writing was good and the reader did a wonderful job. Dare's voice she did was a little weird but other than that it was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend this book if you want to be entertained.

I didn't think I'd like this book because of the subject matter of hunting but I was pleasantly surprised. Angie Powell (whose name sounds very similar to my ex bf) is a very likable character and I enjoyed this book and the tension between her and Dare.

It started off slow then almost lost me completely with the "bears point of view" and the opening of the book. Because of that I only gave it 3 stars but it did pick up nicely so I'm glad I stuck with this! Not one of my favorites from Linda Howard but still worthy of reading.

I felt no connection to any of these characters. I've been fairly disappointed with her last few books, and this was no better. I'm still a huge fan of hers, but I'm not really enjoying the stories as I once was.

There seemed no point to this, the suspense was minimal, the love story barely existent and the characters disappointing.

A bit different in its storyline, PREY is a suspenseful story that you'll want to read straight through. I liked this book, I just didn't love this book. I had enough moments of "Oh, come on!" and "Really?" to result in the 3 star rating.A side note about the reader's performance: the hero's voice bugged me, until an explanation for it came about 2/3s of the way through the book. This would have worked better if I was the "reader," but "listening" to Ms. Craden's interpretation for such length without an explanation, was just irritating.

Take two people, force them to spend some time with each other, even though before they rub each other up the wrong way and watch as they resolve their issues and (omg my brain is going bad pun-ish places with what to say next here) start into a relationship. It's a formula, it works, mostly, in this book.Angie Powell is a hunting guide and the business she inherited from her father is going downhill in favour of ex-soldier Dare Callahan's similar business. On a final job things go terribly wrong and suddenly she's dodging a killer and a bear and she has to rely on Dare for help. It's not bad, readable but nothing earth-shattering.

Prey had suspens with a twist. Angie Powell & Dare Callahan had a hostile relationship. But they where atracked to one anther. On Angie's Lastest hunting trip could be her last. She was stalked by a desperate killer and a maneating black bear. Angie & Dare joined forces to survive. I could not put it down after I started to read it.

Angie Powell and Dare Callahan have had a hostile relationship ever since the Iraq war veteran came back to Montana, opened a hunting business that gradually sucked away her customers - and then had the gall to ask her out. As a lone female in a male-dominated field, Angie's struggled to stay afloat, and her most recent hunting trip may be her last. Especially since unknown to Angie her customers have a whole different agenda. Facing a deadly situation with predators on two legs and four on the mountain with them, Dare and Angie have two choice - join forces, or die.Didn't want to put this down. Plenty of action, and if the plot stretches credence, I for one didn't care.

Angie Powell lacked passion for her job, until she returned home to take over her father’s guide business after his death. Now, because she is loosing business to another guide, she has decided to sell out and move on. The current trip will probably be her last, but fate interferes with a rogue bear and a psychopathic client. There are some difficult to swallow areas of the story, including the bear, but overall, this is a very enjoyable, entertaining story. Linda Howard makes it easy to spend a few hours lost in a book.

Boy, I enjoyed this one. If you like good romantic suspense with some hot sex, you'll like it , too. Sure, it was probably predictable, but I thought the plot was creative, and a bit off the beaten path. Give it a try! 4.5 stars for romantic suspense fans, not for great literature.

Angie's guide business has been steadily undercut over the last two years by her new competitor. But when she takes two dangerous clients hunting in territory roamed by a killer bear, Dare may be her only chance for survival. Also, he's really hot.
