About this audiobook
Mix six teenaged girls and one ’60s fashion icon (retired, of course) in an old Victorian-era boarding home. Add guys and dating, a little high-school angst, and throw in a Kate Spade bag or two … and you’ve got The Carter House Girls, Melody Carlson’s chick lit series for young adults! Christmas is coming, and Mrs. Carter treats the girls to a weekend trip to General Harding’s luxurious Vermont ski lodge. Naturally, she has no idea that Taylor has invited some guys to follow them—boys who have a different type of adventure in mind. At the lodge, Mrs. Carter is caught up in her own world, and DJ, Connor, Rhiannon, and Bradford are left to keep the chaos to a minimum. But as the foursome tries to keep their friends out of trouble, DJ discovers trouble is finding her, as rumors about her and Connor begin to fly. It will take all of DJ's faith to weather this trip.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I have read all of the books in this series so far. While I enjoy reading these, I find the storylines and the characters are getting progressively more annoying. While in the first two books we are slowly introduced to each character, by book 4 (this one is book 4) we are now pretty familiar with all of them. I have to say that I find Taylor's character to be the most interesting but I am starting to get absolutely annoyed with the DJ character. For one thing, she is way tooooo perfect - although things seem to happen to her - somehow she just smiles and makes it all disappear. I am exagerating, but that is the message behind the writing when it comes to this character. I mean DJ absolutely is in passive/reaction mode ALL THE TIME. Somehow, she just seems to sit there and EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY just seems to happen to her. It would be soooo nice to actually see DJ be pro active for a change. Also, the character of Conner has got to go. I mean he has now dumped (and wanted back) DJ twice and yet!! she still manages to 'like him and be his friend'. What a great message to send to YA out there, its okay if the guy keeps dumping you for someone else - always be there waiting for him and whatever you do - don't ever call him on it. Also, the religious tone in this book is getting a little bit over the top. I thought this theme was well-blended into the storyline in the first few books, but in this one - the author does not even bother to hide her preachy side. The conversation between DJ and Conner about sharing a bed was just too out there - especially since they were actually talking about sharing a bed and NOT about sex. I will probably continue to read the other books in the series only because I am curious to see how this will turn out - but I have to say that I am worried about the future releases.
