Codependency dressed up as romance in a nutshell!

This has to be one of my least favourite books, ever...

The term damsel in distress was made for this heroine... she is basically useless, has no self-preservation skills whatsoever... she's only alive because others are constantly saving her! Where's Fiona from Shrek when you need her...

& I get it, there's past trauma & she's agoraphobic, but agoraphobia is the feeling that you're safe in your little bubble, but if your bubble is burning down, running upstairs & hiding in a wardrobe is hardly keeping yourself safe... facepalm

& the book enters the realm of the ridiculous when the Earl decides to threaten them all AFTER there's a Duke on the scene, who outranks him in every way & who WOULD have had the power to have him arrested &/or worse... makes no sense whatsoever!

I think it's the narrator that made it so meh idk. I liked her voice but I felt like it just went on and on even though I felt like I needed to know everything that was going on... Weird.

Why oh why did I even read a romance. I haven't read one in years and won't ever again. Not the authors fault just not for me.
