About this audiobook

In the world of Harmony, Rainshadow Island is home to a mysterious preserve, secrets that have been kept for centuries, and a treasure worth killing for…

As a light-talent, Alice North has the rare ability to make things disappear, including herself-a gift that comes in handy during her magic act with her dust bunny Houdini.

Business mogul Drake Sebastian is day-blind, since his sight was nearly destroyed in a lab accident. But he's the one man who can see Alice when she disappears-and he needs her.

On Rainshadow Island, two dangerous Old World crystals are missing, igniting a paranormal storm. Drake thinks Alice is the key to finding them, and proposes they head there, but only after a Marriage of Convenience.

Alice's honeymoon on Rainshadow is guaranteed to be memorable, as the island-and the passion between her and Drake-is about to explode…

Deception Cove is classic Harmony story-telling.

Story was good but the abridged portions were cut in a chunky way.

Very enjoyable finish to the Rainshadow trilogy. I enjoy Castle's "alien" world and especially enjoy her dust bunnies.

Alice is a light bender, Drake can see dark light. Between them they make a formidable team. When the island on Rainshadow starts getting "hot", Drake is determine to save the island and he needs Alice. As usual, I enjoy the books by Jayne Castle, aka Jayne Ann Krentz, aka Amanda Quick. The mysteries are not complicated but can throw twists at you and the romance is always a fun read. The Castle books are set in another world, Harmony. It is fun to go back to Harmony and see how it is both the same as earth, and vastly different. There has been nothing written by Krentz that I haven't enjoyed, so I will continue reading her books.

Not as mechanical as some of Krentz's books are, so that's plus. Her books now remind me of comfort food -- nothing fresh or new, but you know what to expect, you know it will be a quick and pleasant read. years ago, her books had some genuine emotion in them. Nowadays, not so much.

Alice North's light-talent and the cute factor of her dust bunny Houdini are just barely enough to keep them both fed with her magic act, especially since her ex-mother-in-law is convinced Alice is a murderess and continually hounds her out of job and domicile. So when darkly handsome Drake Sebastian appears with a business proposition and a marriage proposal, Alice is tempted. Trusting Drake is easy - but returning to Rainshadow Island for another honeymoon? That may take some convincing....A good curl-up on the couch for an afternoon book - no real surprises, as both plot and character-types are ones Krentz is apparently fond of, but if you're a fan it's not a bad read.

How can you go wrong with a book that has dust bunnies? Alice's dust bunny companion is Houdini which a quite an appropriate name for a bunny that is part of a magic act. Alice has been trying to make a go of it as a magician using her light talent which lets her disappear. She is being harassed by the mother of the man she entered into a Marriage of Convenience with. When he was found dead, his mother blamed Alice. Really, he had tried to kill her on their honeymoon on Rainshadow Island. Now Drake Sebastian has found her. He wants her to go with him to Rainshadow Island because paranormal forces are going out of control and he hopes they will be able to stop them. Drake also convinces Alice to enter into a Marriage of Convenience. This one is quite different though because they both fall in love. I like the Rainshadow series by Jayne Castle because it is futuristic romance. I like the world that she has created with psychic talents, strong family bonds, and all sorts of alien ruins and artifacts. I also like the romances which pair up strong characters who are lucky enough to find their perfect mates. For a fun futuristic romance, Jayne Castle can't be beat.

Alice North is well on her way to rescuing herself from some thugs when Drake Sebastian finds her. He wants her to help him save Rainshadow Island from his mad former girlfriend who is experimenting with things she doesn't understand and sacraficing people to the search for results and answers. It's a fun read for me these series, they blur a bit into each other but thy are my sort of put my brain on hold and keep going reading that afterwards it makes me stand back and pick holes in it but otherwise its entertaining. The characters behavind in pretty predictable ways but I do enjoy them.

Ms Castle's novels are quick, easy, fun reads for me. After having read several intense, intricate books this week, I needed a palate cleanser. Deception Cove was just the one.

What I liked: I don't think anyone writes paranormal romances like Ms Castle. The world building is intricate but not overly complicated. Just go with the flow and you'll enjoy it. There's humor, mystery and a bit of the unknown. It all works together to draw you in but keep you satisfied. I enjoyed the heroine, Alice, and the hero, Drake. Ms Castle's leading ladies are strong individuals with obstacles to overcome and the leading man is there to help them. The couple work as a team. Plus, I LOVE dust bunnies. By the way, there is a major scene with lots of information about dust bunnies. You don't want to pass it up, do you?

What I didn't like: Having read so many of Jayne Castle, Jayne Ann Krentz, and Amanda Quick novels, I know the formula. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I work my reading around what I know the books will provide.

I enjoy the Harmony novels and now, Ms Castle has added another layer on the Harmony world. You could read this as a stand alone but again, you will miss all the wonderful world building and characters that make each novel unique.

If you want quick, easy paranormal reads, this author and series is for you.
