About this audiobook
Husband-and-wife team Sam and Remi Fargo are in Mexico, when they come upon a remarkable discovery--the skeleton of a man clutching an ancient sealed pot, and within the pot, a Mayan book, larger than anyone has ever seen. The book contains astonishing information about the Mayans, about their cities, and about mankind itself. The secrets are so powerful that some people would do anything to possess them--as the Fargos are about to find out.
Before their adventure is done, many men and women will die for that book--and Sam and Remi may just be among them.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Mayan Secrets is the 5th book in the Sam & Remi Fargo series, the book commences with the couple finishing up a shark tagging expedition off the coast of Mexico when an earthquake hits the Mexican region around Tapachula (close to the border of Guatemala). During their efforts to help with the disaster they stumble upon an ancient Mayan temple which contains a treasure trove of information. Along comes a nefarious character and the romp across Guatemala commences seeing our famous treasure hunting couple join local Mayan descendants to protect their small town from looting and exploitation, as well as fight to preserve the other archaeological sites revealed by the original temple.I found it to be one of the better books in the series and enjoyed the detailed opening sequence.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fargo adventures again! Author(s) have done lots of homework on Mayan sites and relics--that's apparent: I know more now than I did before reading this. One wonders; however, about the truth of it all. There's a little filler, like when the two of them float the underground river--you know they'll make it because this is adventure #5 of many.. So, no suspense there. Characters? we learn more about Sam and Selma shines as always. Sarah Allersby stars as Cruella DeVille. Fun, brainless, read.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5What a let-down. Clive Cussler must have a love-hate relationship with Thomas Perry, his co-author for this Fargo Adventure book. Too bored to write his own stuff anymore, but enamored of the income stream from old fans, Cussler seems to have dictated that Perry dumbs down .... well, just about everything in this stupid book. Don't waste your time and certainly don't buy this junk. Shame on you, Cussler.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Just finished The Mayan Secrets by Clive Cussler and Thomas Perry. Another good story by these two. The story is set in the Mayan areas of Mexico and Guatemala. It starts out in the 1500's with a Spanish priest who helps the Mayans keep a Codex from being burned by the Spanish. The Codex is found by the Fargo's while helping out in natural disaster in Mexico. The story takes off from there revolving around a beautiful, rich antiquities smuggler and her henchmen, the Fargo's, and the Mayan descendants.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I always love the Fargo's.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The Fargo's stumble onto a Mayan Codex and end up in a race against a rich Heiress to prevent the ruins from being robbed. A lot of the circumstances in this book seem very contrived including the ending. The bad girl is really not developed much. Not one of Cussler's better works.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is my first time reading a two author Clive Cussler book. Normally, I would not have. It annoys me, that you are interested in an author and he hands off an idea to another writer. So I normally don't buy or read these.
That being said, it was a great story. I wouldn't call it a four star, but I would give it 3.5 if that were available. Thomas Perry did a wonderful job.
What kept this story under a four for me, would be its lack of ah-ha's. An ah-ha to me is when a book surprises me and makes my goosebumps bristle. There were no surprises here. Just a good 3.5 story.
