About this audiobook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Powerhouse author Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels are "as entertaining as ever" (Entertainment Weekly), "brilliantly evocative" (The Denver Post), and "making trouble and winning hearts" (USA Today).

Stephanie Plum has her sights set on catching a notorious mob boss. If she doesn't take him down, he may take her out.

New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum knows better than to mess with family. But when powerful mobster Salvatore "Uncle Sunny" Sunucchi goes on the lam in Trenton, it's up to Stephanie to find him. Uncle Sunny is charged with murder for running over a guy (twice), and nobody wants to turn him in-not his poker buddies, not his bimbo girlfriend, not his two right-hand men, Shorty and Moe. Even Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, has skin in the game, because-just Stephanie's luck-the godfather is his actual godfather. And while Morelli understands that the law is the law, his old-world grandmother, Bella, is doing everything she can to throw Stephanie off the trail.

It's not just Uncle Sunny giving Stephanie the run-around. Security specialist Ranger needs her help to solve the bizarre death of a top client's mother, a woman who happened to play bingo with Stephanie's Grandma Mazur. Before Stephanie knows it, she's working side by side with Ranger and Grandma at the senior center, trying to catch a killer on the loose-and the bingo balls are not rolling in their favor.

With bullet holes in her car, henchmen on her tail, and a giraffe named Kevin running wild in the streets of Trenton, Stephanie will have to up her game for the ultimate takedown.

After 20 Stephanie Plum books, they are getting a little tired. This may be the last one I read. It was okay, but there are so many great books out there. It was an easy, quick, no brainer read if that is what you are looking for.

3.5Book source ~ LibraryStephanie Plum is a half-assed bounty hunter with the hots for two guys and has a best friend who is crazy. She has the paperwork needed to catch Salvatore Sunucchi for skipping out on his court date, but the problem is everyone loves Uncle Sunny and no one wants to tell her where he’s hanging his hat these days. Oh, everyone knows he’s a mob boss and he murdered someone, but hey, he’s so charming he doesn’t deserve to go to prison. While Stephanie tries to run down Sunny and avoid Sunny’s henchmen she’s helping hot security guy Ranger to solve the murders of several old ladies who were strangled and left in dumpsters. Hot cop guy Morelli says it’s not his case, but he’s helping out some, too. Because why not?Even though I read book 25 just a few weeks ago, I hadn’t realized I’d somehow skipped this one. I mean, it’s understandable. They all run together like onelongassbook. This one is actually a bit better than the others, but not by much. Only because Ranger is in it a lot and Stephanie screws up even more than usual and actually gets hurt. Does it knock some sense into her? Not really. But I like how it twists a bit more than usual. In any case, this book is marshmallow fluff. It’s no good for you, but it’s pretty tasty in small doses. Light entertainment is all you get out of this one. As usual.

More silly fun with Stephanie Plum.

Another fun Stephanie Plum book. This time Stephanie seems to be in a lot of danger as she attempts to get Uncle Sunny, a local mobster. There is also a random giraffe running around, which adds another comedic element. The story was typical Stephanie, and was a very fun read. I really enjoyed it.

The scariest, craziest episode yet as Stephanie attempts to bring in local celebrity criminal and relative of Morelli--Uncle Sunny, while two wild animals are loose in the Burg. One is deadly, one is exotic, and both are causing chaos.

BOTTOM-LINE:Good, but not the best of the series.PLOT OR PREMISE:Stephanie is trying to bring in an aging mob-boss who is Morelli's godfather.WHAT I LIKED:Everyone loves Uncle Sunny so nobody wants to help…not his goons, not Morelli, not Morelli's family, not anyone in the burg. But that's not unusual. Dead old ladies showing up in dumpsters and a giraffe running through the burg are unusual. .WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:The plot was okay, although I didn't find the end motive particularly great, nor the resolution. And the constant focus on the giraffe was just plain odd..DISCLOSURE:I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, nor do I follow her on social media.

Pretty much the usual Stephanie Plum novel. I was disappointed that the most spectacular loss of a car of Stephanie's was pretty much glossed over (not described). Good to see that Uncle Sandor's Buick is still as indestructible as ever.

One half for not stupidizing her characters..... Finally Stephanie seems relatively normal (as she can possibly be), and Lula isn't a wildly spun-out caricature as she once was....

    SPOILER (of sorts)

Stephanie is in a very unpopular place, she is assigned to bring in Joe's elusive Uncle Sunny", whom everyone loves..... Causing Grandma Bella to put the eye on Stephanie not just once, but every time she sees Stephanie. While searching for Uncle Sunny, Lula & Stephanie come across a giraffe that Lula names Kevin.

It may have been my imagination but it seemed to me that Joe & Stephanie didn't spend a large amount of time together.... just a few quick get togethers.... Of course there was Ranger always saving her..... and Stephanie's inability to make up her mind.

After have a very Near Death Experience where she is dumped off the side of a bridge... Stephanie seriously questions her job as a bounty hunter.... Which leads to her helping Ranger search for the murder of elderly BINGO playing women.......

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found this to be a very fast (4 hour) read. It had all the usual characters, it was amusing, the story was interesting (I didn't figure out who the murder was), and it held my interest. It isn't good enough to buy a copy of.....

I just finished reading Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich. As I've mentioned many times before, I love the Stephanie Plum series. It's among the few that can make me laugh even when I'm feeling down.

This particular book seemed a little more serious than most. Stephanie is chasing a killer who targets older women, kills them and leaves their bodies in dumpsters. She's also trying to catch a guy from a gang - not a wise move, but since this is one of the Stephanie Plum books, that situation never gets too serious.

As usual, there are also some funny things happening. Though I wouldn't normally describe a scared giraffe running around in New Jersey as funny, the way Janet Evanovich puts it, it does come across as amusing. Stephanie's friend Lula has a special relationship with this giraffe, she names him Kevin and feeds him lettuce.

Again, as usual Stephanie is trying to make a decision between the two hot men in her life, Morelli or Ranger. This too, turns into hilarity in various ways.

I doubt if anyone's curious, but I think I would have picked Ranger. He won't want to get married, probably not have children but he would be a lot of fun to be around, in every sense of the word. ;)

A little hard to rate over 3 on something that is so formulaic, but don't think for a minute that I didn't enjoy it. Staying motivated to keep running is not very easy for me, music doesn't do it. Stephanie Plum helps me finish.

The twentieth addition to the Stephanie Plum series seems to (FINALLY!) have Stephanie thinking about growing up a bit. A near death experience jolts Stephanie into thinking about getting her life together and getting a different job at least for a little while. Other than that this was your typical Stephanie Plum novel. Steph is still caught between Morelli and Ranger.

Another fun installment in the series. A Giraffe in the city, Stephanie hunting down an uncle of Morrelli's. Ranger once again stepping in and saving Stephanie, hanging over the edge of a bridge. The fun and excitement never stops. Another one to enjoy.

Another fantastic book, well read by Lorelei King ( her endless range of voices is impressive to say the least) and halariously written by Evanovitch! Ms Plumb never fails to keep you laughing out loud and awe-struck at her and Lula's by-the-seat-of-their-pants antics!! A great stand alone read and a must for fans of the series! Happy hunting wether big game or bounty, your sure to enjoy!

This was a typical Stephanie Plum novel except for the fact that the man she is looking for is a mob boss who happens to be related to Morelli. On top of that, Stephanie helps Ranger discover who is killing a bunch of old ladies. Lula plays her usual amazing self as Stephanie's sidekick who goes out of her way to feed Kevin the giraffe. That's' right a giraffe in Trenton, New Jersey! This was a decently told story but it seems as if Evanovich is searching for things to have Stephanie deal with.

Another fun detective romp in the slightly surreal world of Stephanie Plum (but I mean that in the nicest way). This outing finds Stephanie reconsidering her job as a bond recovery agent, and no wonder, as nothing seems to go right for her. Lula is a standout, as always. Much enjoyed!

I just love this series! The characters make me laugh out loud, the plot is interesting, and Stephanie's love life is perpetually ambivalent and always fun! "You gotta admire a woman who takes her pay in pork chops", just one example of the ridiculous, fun humor. Perfect series for those times you need something light and engaging!

I have read all of the Stephanie Plum novels so far and I just love these books. They are a very easy read and are something to read when you just wanna relax after a long day. They are just so humorous and I love all the characters, especially Grandma Mazur. It has a little bit of everything thrown in, while still being lighthearted.

I would recommend these books to anybody.

In this twentieth book in the Stephanie Plum series, we see Stephanie bumble as a bounty hunter, waver between Morelli and Ranger, catch something on fire and destroy a car. Yep, it's the same story as before. There's not anything new here but it is more of the same fun that we've come to love from Stephanie Plum novels. Lorelei King continues to be one of the top narrators out there and makes the books worth listening to. And I think it's the audiobook that makes the difference. I would get frustrated with the physical books but with Lorelei King's narration, the book is a great escape.

I don't care! I love this series! I actually love the love triangle! I'm unrepentant in my love for these books, even if, after 20 of them, there has been no evolution or growth for Stephanie et al. Well, that's out of the way now. Takedown Twenty has Stephanie trying to catch the most popular man in the Burg for skipping bail. He's also Morelli's godfather and Grandma Bella's nephew. Sooo, not a lot of help here from anyone and lots of Grandma Bella giving her "the eye". Stephanie is also helping out Ranger with a string of old-lady murders and trying to track down an errant giraffe roaming the streets. All of this is done with her usual style, or lack thereof. There aren't any surprises here, but there are a ton of laughs. Poor DH had to hear me laugh out loud so many times he finally paused the TV and told me to read him what I found so damn funny (that specific scene involved fish...) The usual cast of characters are here and they remain faithful to, and predictable in their personalities and their roles. Mom's still sneaking nips from the whiskey, Dad's still oblivious, Grandma Mazur is still trying to hook up, Vinnie's still despicable and Lula is still, well, Lula. This remains the ONLY series where I can not only abide, but enjoy, the love triangle. I like both Morelli AND Ranger and I believe each brings something to Stephanie's life that she needs. God forgive me, but I'm totally on board with her keeping both men in her life for the foreseeable future. Obviously, no forward momentum is made here either - no choice is made that lasts for more than 5 minutes. What I have noticed though, is a very slight, subtle change on Ranger's part over the course of all these books. He's still clear about no commitments, but he's not nearly as vociferous about it as he used to be. He's also showing just a tiny bit of perturbation over Stephanie's brushes with death. Maybe by book 40... I'll wrap this up by saying, I did not see the end coming. Maybe I should have, but the murderer came as a total surprise to me. Very cool. As DH pointed out, JE has been sticking with alliterative titles lately and she's looking at a whole lot of "T"'s coming up if she's going to continue through the 20's (and the 30's???). Should be interesting to see how that works out...

Pretty much the same old formula from books 1-19 but I guess that's why we keep reading. It was great to visit once again with Stephanie, Lula, Grandma, Morelli, Ranger..... and the whole gang! The giraffe was new.......

The last few in the series have been a bit ok but nothing exciting. This one felt like one of the older books and I enjoyed it more than the last two. The usual Stephanie is trying to bag someone she has a hard time tracking. This time it is someone with connections to Morelli and that makes it a bit harder with his grandmother giving her the eye all the time over it. The wacky part of the story is a runaway giraffe that no one is calling animal control about. All in all a fun read and glad I picked it up. Here is hoping that the series keeps it up even as Stephanie slowly moves to making a decision about her love life.
