About this audiobook

As one of only two girls on the tween racing circuit, Shawn Hamby has always run with a fast crowd. But now at thirty-two, she doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. And she definitely doesn't need a man bossing her around off of the track . . .

But after a silly girls' night at a fetish club, Shawn can't get Rhett Ford out of her mind. He's younger than her, and he's her best friend's brother-in-law, which should be red flags. Rhett is looking for someone to lead in bed, but he can't imagine that Shawn would ever submit to him. Boldly surrendering is more her style. And with Rhett behind the wheel, it's going to be one wild ride . . .

This book has one of the sexiest covers I've ever seen. I could sit and stare at it for hours.

    *swoons*

The story itself was sweet and I enjoyed it, particularly because the conflict wasn't manufactured by miscommunication between the characters, but from external sources (the fact that he's a driver and her husband died in a crash, that her in-laws have an old beef with his parents, etc).

Elec was all kinds of sweet and yummy. He didn't seem to have any flaws at all, which is a little disappointing in the grand scheme of things, but I loved the way that he brought Tamara out of her shell by working to make her realize he thought she was sexy, stretch marks and all.

    A solid, good read.

It was an ok book for me. It had nothing that said: this is going to bring the biggest plot twist ever or this is going to bring me to tears. It was everything ok: the plot and the characters. One thing that made me interested to keep reading the series was Suz and Ryder. Can't wait to see how that relationship is going to turn out. It is a light and fast read if you're looking for something to take the edge off.

I am not really a contemporary romance kind of girl, but a friend recommended these books to me and promised I would love them. I was in the mood for something light, so I downloaded this book and dove in. I really enjoyed that there was some conflict in this book, but it was not nearly as much angst as the books I am used to, in a good way. There were issues between the two main characters and things they needed to work through, but it was never overly dramatic. Erin definitely knows how to write a steamy scene and there were plenty of them laced throughout this book. There were also numerous laugh out loud moments and the humor was a welcomed surprise. I just loved this book and have already downloaded the next book to see what happens between Imogen and Ty.

Flat Out Sexy was just Flat Out Adorable. The story starts with the heroine Tamara Briggs at a cocktail party trying to talk herself into then out of feelings for the guy she’s been seeing and brought to the cocktail party when she bumps – literally – into the hero Elec Monroe. Through a series of events, they end up in a cab together headed to a friends trailer, where she is planning on spending the night. Elec ends up spending the night too, but they do not so much sleeping. But things take a down turn in the morning when Tamara finds out first Elec’s age, which is a few years younger than her own and second the fact that he’s a race car driver. You see Tamara is a widow with two children whose husband was killed in a race. She doesn’t want to be involved with another driver again.Elec is so endearing in this book. He’s so totally gone for Tamara right from the beginning. I’ve mentioned before that I love books when the hero is gone for the heroine. Add to the fact that this is a younger guy/older woman book and I loved it even more. It’s adorable getting inside his head and seeing how smitten he is with her. Tamara has a number of issues against getting involved with Elec – issues I could really understand. She’s insecure about her body and Elec is wonderful about allaying those insecurities and though she has a few qualms about the age difference, she isn’t stuck on it. All in all, she’s a great heroine. And the secondary characters are also very well drawn, from Suzanne, her best friend to Evan and Eve, Elec’s siblings. There was one scene in particular, the dinner party scene for anyone who’s read the book, that had me laughing out loud in a number of places.Although this is a race car themed book and I don’t know didly about the race car scene, it didn’t overwhelm the book and wasn’t a problem at all in the reading. In fact it looks like her next book is the same setting and after reading the excerpt, I’m really looking forward to it’s release so I can get back into this world.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance My Review UpdatedSummary Tamara Briggs, is a single mother in her early thirties, and a widow. She lost her husband to the race track. When she attends a social gathering she literally bumps into drop dead gorgeous Elec Monroe. After breaking up with her boyfriend, who tosses her out of their hotel---she is taken in by Elec and they share a passionate night and Tamara has felt chemistry with someone she has never felt before. They begin a relationship slowly and very secretly. Tamara's father in law and Elec's father are racing enemies and hate each other. She doesn't want to hurt her late husband's family. Tamara also has to worry about develop a relationship with a racer but also she has two children to worry about. Tamara and Elec soon realize how strong they feel for each and will stand together no matter what...The Hero Elec Monroe is a racer, but he is so much more than a man who loves to rev up his engine. He may be just starting out for his career, but he is making great successes as a rookie. Elec is not your typical racer. He is kind, caring, compassionate and more quiet. He is a hard worker and loves a challenge. He is very patient with Tamara and her needs in the relationship. What I really liked about this hero was his nature and his fun yet quiet nature. I love a quiet hero, because they are always full of surprise and Elec was no different. From the beginning to the end, he constantly amazed me.Such a solid hero you want to win in the end. She looked pretty and fresh and smart and sexy, and Elec wanted to own the right to sit down next to her. He wanted the ability to put his arm around her, to kiss her, to make her laugh, to make her come, to hold her all night and to get to know every single thing about her. The Heroine Tamara fell in love at a very young age, had two children and then the worst thing happened...her husband was killed while racing. She became a widow and a single mother in one moment and her life changed forever. Time has passed, her children are growing but her life is still mixed in with life of racing. Tamara is unsatisfied with her life. Her current boyfriend is kind and steady but dull and boring and the sex is nothing worth even thinking about. But when she finds herself in a relationship with a man that makes her feel in ways she has never imagined her life gets turned upside down. What I liked about Tamara, is that even though she does make mistakes, she leads with her heart. She is kind, caring, and supportive. We see the different facets to her personality. She is a loving mother, but she is also a woman who has needs and desires. She does suffer from self confidence, she doesn't see herself as beautiful in any way. I did like seeing her become more confident in herself and see more inner strength come into focus. Definitely, a heroine you can admire and respect.Plot and Story Line Flat Out Sexy is the first of a exciting series that I got instantly hooked into!! Lately, I have been wanting to pick up more racing romances---they can be so fun and sexy and Erin McCarthy doesn't disappoint where this book is concerned. This book brings you into a exciting world with fantastic characters I came to love and their antics were so entertaining. I love the way some of these characters interacted with the main couple of the story and leaves the reader even more intrigued. The actual story beings with a night of casual sex but turns into more. Its a gradual romance, that slowly builds. This is where you really see the authors true talent in building a solid love story. We have a heroine that is reluctant to have a relationship with another race and comes from a family that would only cause complications. But we see how well Elec handles her fears and how dedicated he becomes to the relationship and to her children. There are some tests they both have to face but in the end, these hurdles only strengthen their bond and I really loved seeing how this happens. If you love this man, go for it girl. Grab hold of every minute of happiness and enjoy it. Tell yourself you may only have today or you may have fifty years together, but love him for that time. Love him for the way we race—for the joy, for the thrill, for the adrenaline, and for the triumph. This story was entertaining, engaging and heartwarming. The Cover Sexy as sin!!! I love the shirt opened look....what lovely abs and I love his relaxed yet confident pose here!! And the muted colors are a nice touch.Overall View Flat Out Sexy is a wild as sin romance that will make you swoon with each chapter!! This romance is a story that will enchant and delight its readers and keep you on a thrill ride of passion, excitement and the thrills of love.

A very sexy and very touching story..."Flat-Out Sexy" by Erin McCarthy is a truly entertaining read with humor, emotion, and desire wrapped up in a very touching love story. Tamara is a teacher, a mother, and a widow. She's also feeling very unsexy and it's no surprise since she can calculate to the day, the last time she had sex. And she really can't count the boring professor since she had to force herself to do it once and would rather eat nails than do it again! Then she spills her entire glass of wine on a very sexy stranger at a party and things go kinda crazy from there! After a night of very fulfilling, very crazy sex...Tamara discover that not only is her stranger younger than she is, he's also a race car driver, just like her first husband who 'left' her by smashing his car in the corner on the racetrack. She just can't face that again...right?Elec may be a bit younger in years, but he's also a man who knows what he wants and once he sets his sights on Tamara, she really doesn't stand a chance. If he can just get past her fears, her in-laws, and her prejudices, he'll be home free. No problem...really...probably...maybe?Two people who couldn't be more perfect for each other, but have to learn that love is no more perfect than people, and sometimes taking the chance outweighs safety. I loved the story, I loved the hero and heroine, I loved the pace of their relationship and how they handled the roadblocks and challenges unique to their situation. The cover is smoking and the heat inside is a good match too.

I barely made it through this steamy story. The premise set up was decent enough but after that it was mostly sex or sexual tension. The heroines behavior was so erratic that I never really understood her. I skimmed a lot. Race track owner Shawn meets younger man Rhett at a fetish club.

Not my favorite of the series, but still good. Shawn meets Rhett during a night out with her friends, not knowing he's her best friend's brother-in-law. There is an instant attraction, but he's seven years younger than she is and that bothers her a little at first. But when she needs a husband fast, Rhett is the one she goes to. He agrees to marry her, but refuses the idea of a marriage of convenience. He wants Shawn and this is the perfect chance to have her.Shawn is a business woman and independent. She needs Rhett in order to keep the race track, but isn't interested in anything more until her attraction to him takes off. She discovers that Rhett likes to be the boss in the bedroom and finds that she's okay with that. And while they started out putting a time limit on the marriage, Shawn starts thinking about what it would be like to stay married to him.Rhett is the youngest of his family and spent a lot of time being bossed around by his sisters. As a result, he likes to have control where he can. He's an intense guy, not known for being light and charming, and finding a woman who can handle that intensity has been difficult. Shawn is mature enough to do so and Rhett realizes that she is perfect for him. He just has to convince her.I really liked the way that Rhett realized his feelings so quickly and wanted to find a way to make the relationship permanent. He does seem to be something of a steamroller and doesn't pick up on the clues that, while she cares just as much as her does, Shawn is much warier about believing in a happy ending. I liked their honesty with each other and that they make the effort to really communicate. Rhett's youth does influence things at the end, when he seems to have an all or nothing attitude, without seeming to be willing to compromise. Fortunately, wiser heads have an influence and they are able to work things out.The bedroom scenes are pretty intense and not really my cup of tea, but they worked for the story. I was happy to see Rhett not be a total ass. He did have a quick, emotional connection with Shawn that made their relationship more believable.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a scorcher! Holy panty melting hotness! I’ve read a few of Erin McCarthy’s books before, but none in the Fast Track series. Be prepared with a fan, because the level of intensity in this book is unreal! I know it is common for many to complain about the unrealistic nature of insta-love, but I am a HUGE believer of when you know, you just know. Try to fight it all you want, but deep down inside, something inside of you recognizes the truth.

Fast Track begins with Shawn and Rhett randomly meeting at a fetish club. Though they have common acquaintances, neither of them know that at the time. Rhett is searching for someone in particular, someone who can go toe to toe with him. Shawn doesn’t even know she is searching. When they collide, sparks fly. What ensues, without giving away too many details, it hotness to another level. The description and detail that Erin gives puts you in that scene, in that moment with them.

When I have more time, I cannot wait to read the other books in the series. I literally flew through each page and would highly recommend it to anyone. Though their electricity is off the charts, there is also a lot of tenderness and caring between these characters that will make your heart melt. Like I said, when you find your person, you just know. 5 star read from me!

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Marriage of convenience with an Alpha male.Opening Sentence: “I double dog dare you.”The Review:There are moments as I read and review books when I have to stop and remind myself that this is what I truly longed to be doing full-time when I was a high school nerd with very few friends. I would love to tell the 15 year old me to hang in there because one of my dreams will come true before I reach forty. But back to our regularly scheduled review of Full Throttle by Erin McCarthy. This book was a ravenous read. I sat down over two nights and one long lunch and couldn’t get enough of Rhett and Shawn.Huge props must go to Ms. McCarthy because what author in their right mind would name their hero Rhett, but she did and she nailed it. There is much fun poked at our hero because of his name. And there were a number of times I heard in my head, “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a ****.” The amazing part of this is that our Rhett does in fact give and take care every where but in the bedroom. This made his character sizzle in this reader’s eyes. His care and consideration of Shawn throughout their journey bar one blip seals him as a man to be taken seriously and appreciated. Our heroine is no light weight either and is willing and able to give as good as she gets. This is part of her charm and a portion of why Rhett is drawn to her from the very beginning. The circumstances that she finds herself in due to her grandfather’s will and a stipulation to wed make her impulsive decision to ask Rhett to marry her believable. I don’t know about the rest of you, but when I’m stressed about a huge problem all I want to do is fix it and drop it as quickly as I can, and I found this particular character trait not only believable, but I’m an expert at this maneuver.Ok, I can hear you all saying but she hasn’t mentioned anything about race cars or sports up until this point, and that is in part because they don’t play a major role in this story. The track acts more as a secondary character pushing Rhett and Shawn together in the beginning and having a minor role in their turbulent marriage. As some of you may know, I’m a sucker for marriage of convenience. I guess in part it is a throw back to some of my first romance novels by the Queen of Romance, Barbara Cartland. So when I found out that this book had that as part of the story, I was giggling with girlish delight. Ms. McCarthy worked this romance trope like a true craftsman and made it work for not only the story but the characters. One last thing before I wrap up, don’t be concerned if you haven’t read the other six books in the Fast Track series. I hadn’t either and I was in no way hampered or lost as I navigated this wonderful journey of love between Rhett and Shawn. So I heartily endorse this book and encourage you to check it out. I have a feeling if you love marriage of convenience, contemporary or just well written prose you will find great joy in sneaking off to read this book just like I did.Notable Scene:And then he strode right over to them, his eyes locked on Shawn. On her. Yikes. She swallowed and tried not to fidget. She didn’t really want to do this. She wasn’t prepared to talk to a guy here. It was all just a dumb idea to even set foot in this place, and she certainly didn’t want to encourage any attention from a guy who would clearly be interested in areas outside her expertise and comfort level. She would have to politely dissuade him. Before he even spoke, his hand slid out and took hers, his thumb stroking across her palm, causing a shiver of arousal to take her totally by surprise.“You should dance with me,” he said, already pulling her toward him.“Okay.”FTC Advisory: Berkley provided me with a copy of Full Throttle. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.
