About this audiobook
In keeping with the theme of her comedic New York Times bestsellers, from Belly Laughs to Love, Lust & Faking It, McCarthy brings her trademark honesty, humility, and humor to bear as she chronicles her often embarrassing, occasionally outlandish, and always entertaining life as a born-and-raised Catholic girl.
Jenny attended one of the most prestigious all-girl Catholic schools in Chicago. While most young girls in Jenny's neighborhood were playing with Cabbage Patch dolls for fun, Jenny was playing with Jesus, Mary, and Joseph dolls. She had every intention of growing up and becoming a nun, but a few hilarious speed bumps and blinking red lights along the way changed her mind. Jenny never did accept Sister Mary's reasoning that she could avoid purgatory if she just bought a string necklace for $10. The fact that two of her aunts are simultaneously nuns and cops-yes, they carry guns and shoot people while wearing a habit-never made complete sense to her. And neither does her mother's insistence that Jenny bury certain religious statues in the front lawns of her houses before she sells them. But then again, Jenny does have four of them buried across Southern California.
This book tells the story of what went wrong during Jenny's Catholic upbringing, or, as Jenny puts it now, what went right. Chapters include: "I Knew I Should Have Worn Underwear to Church", "Jesus' Baby Mama", "Can Someone Kill Our Dog, Please?", and "Oh No, My Mom is Going to Hell."
BAD HABITS is a brutally honest, hilarious memoir that will delight the legions of Jenny McCarthy fans.

Reviews for Bad Habits

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Jenny McCarthy takes on her Catholic upbringing in this book. Fun and light read. Easy to consume.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A funny, sometimes vulgar look at Jenny McCarthy's Catholic upbringing, the Playboy years, and her son's ultimately successful struggles with autism.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Unlike her other books, this book is not as flippant, outrageous or funny. It seems like she told a group of stories to ghostwriter (and not a very good one) and the ghost writer turned out a book. It really shows the lack of faith in the book that the author herself, unlike her other books, didn't bother to narrate it but hired a narrator.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5When McCarthy isn't acting in a medical capacity, she's funny. Same age, similar influences. Some of the stuff she says about the Church are wrong or hyperbole, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she was exaggerating for effect.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Have to admit I didn't know what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised. This was an entertaining book. this book held my interest and there were some good laughs to be had.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fun book. Bought it as she is talking about her Catholic upbringing for the most part. Was unaware that she had been a Playboy playmate until someone pointed it out at work to me, had not reached that part of the book. She's pretty much no holds barred in the book from her upbringing and fear of going to Hell to the 6 hits of Ectasy she took while on a beach in Hawaii. The chapter in regards to watching The Exorcist is too funny. Or Cynid Lauper's face covering up Jesus' while she's making out with her boyfriend in her bedroom.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a funny book, she has no qualms in being completely honest!! She will talk about the good, the bad and the ugly. You will never look at playmates, drugs, or religion the same again. Kept me laughing the whole time!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really enjoyed the read and could relate to the Catholic references. She is an interesting character. She definitely runs the gamut from saint to sinner.
