About this audiobook

Liz Dougherty has no idea a single question is about to change her life.

Her first big reporting assignment for her North Carolina college newspaper has her covering a state senator’s impromptu press conference. Brady Maxwell may have everything it takes to be a politician—a winning pedigree, devastating good looks, a body made to wear suits—but his politics rub Liz the wrong way. When Liz’s hard-hitting question catches the upstart senator off-guard, it impresses Hayden Lane, Liz’s editor who feels she’s headed for a promising career as a reporter.

But Liz is also headed into a secret romance with Brady that could destroy both their ambitions. Though he’s a bachelor, potential voters might frown on Brady cozying up to a reporter. And Liz isn’t sure sneaking around is enough for her—especially when things between her and Hayden might be less platonic than she thought.

USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s Record series begins with a sleek, sexy, and smart venture into a high-stakes political campaign and an even higher-stakes affair that, in the end, will leave you wanting more with one of Linde’s gripping cliffhangers.

I initially liked the book. But the two stars is because of Liz. She is cute, funny and smart, but god she is a weak pushover. One moment he is treating her like trash and she is angry, the next he meets her in a bathroom and manipulates her and she falls for it every time. Why is she suddenly so freaking weak? It doesn’t make sense with the other character traits.

Great book and entertaining enjoyable storyline. The characters were well informed and their parts were very natural as they performance are most objectives. But I will say that she a unique lady and she can be very naive about relationships and she trust a lot to this man.

While immersed in Megyn Kelly’s memoir ‘Settle For More’ and her shocking revelations about the Presidential candidate Donald Trump, I thought it might be fun to also read ‘Off the Record’ by K.A. Linde, a novel about Congressional candidate and state senator, Brady Maxwell. The story revolves around a spirited, University of North Carolina college reporter, Liz Dougherty, who writes a scathing article about Senator Maxwell and then becomes involved in a heated, secret romance with the politician. Maxwell is unwilling to let anything or anyone come between his desire to acquire the Congressional seat, and he allows his campaign chairperson to promote him with more suitable dates for his campaign appearances. Meanwhile, Liz is kept waiting in a hotel room, as ‘the other woman,’ which seems like such a folly for a seemingly intelligent woman. I can easily see this movie as being made into a political romance, chick flick with steamy sex and some clever lines. It would definitely provide for interesting entertainment, although the depth of the story might be questionable. Although I was amused, I honestly cannot remember exactly how the story ended, as I recall being disappointed that a more confirmed resolution would need to be found in an upcoming sequel.

I have never been one of a political nature and want sure u would like this book when I started. I am so glad I tried it out because I totally fell in love with these characters! Even the minor characters had me in the edge of my seat to see what was coming for them. Ms Linde wrote an amazing story with plenty of scorching scenes in the bedroom as well as heart wrenching drama that keeps the reader thinking. I am very eager for the next book and can't wait to see what happens with senator Maxwell and Liz. I totally loved this book but I wish it wouldn't have ended so abruptly! <3

I won this book and received it on the day it came out. Since I was reading another book I couldn't jump right into this one.

When I finally started it I couldn't put it down. I was up all night, until I fell asleep. Then I read it on my break at work and started again as soon as I got home. My kindled ended up dying in the middle of a chapter while i was 83% done. Frustrating. First thing in the morning I finished it. If work, low battery, and sleep didn't get in the way this would have been read in one night.

K.A Linde drew me in from the beginning. Not only is it set in my home state and makes me feel connected right off the bat. But the Characters are relatable. The situation that Liz surprisingly finds herself in leads to many secrets and doubts. Liz is a college journalist. It's when she gets her first big break and is able to ask the North Carolinas Senator a question that her world is flipped upside down. Senator Brady Maxwell lll has his sights on being the President one day and he won't let anything get in his way. During a Big Press conference Brady is caught off guard by a young reporter. Now a sit in the HofR may not be the only thing he wants but you can't always have your cake and eat it too. With his tiring schedule will he be able to get everything he has ever wanted and Love.

Through this whole book I felt for Liz and wanted to smack Brady at times. I hated the situation they were in because you know that if this big thing like running for office wasn't in the way they would be perfect together. But you can only push someone so far before they break.

After finishing this book I am now not so patiently waiting for On The Record.

So, if you have yet to read this entertaining and sexy book you should to wherever it is you buy your books and pick it up.

Thank you K.A. Linde for another amazing book and i can't wait for more

Sleek, suave, sexy... but is he truthful or keeping secrets? Liz cannot help herself around him. He is so charismatic she will do anything to be with him and please him. Brady Maxwell III is most definitely the typical politician with that something more that appeals to the masses.

What started as an assignment for her college newspaper evolves into a full blown love affair. I felt so sorry for her... I could just see that someone as naive and Liz was being swallowed alive by the political machinery that is Brady Maxwell III. I have to admit, though, deep down you know he loves her and wants to be with her and be his true honest self. The problem is he has been brought up to continue the family legacy and perhaps even become President. He will have to choose between Liz or winning and pursuing his political career. She is not what would be considered "suitable" as his partner.

I was deeply immersed in this story. It plays so true to life, you forget these are fictional characters. It has always interested me that politics demands so much of their servants. It is an impossible image they must live up to. We are all human and we make mistakes, love the wrong person, and want to be honest and true to our believes. Politicians, if they want to be successful, must adapt their lives or live a lie in order to win because they must meet impossible expectations.

I was sorry to see the book end, but never fear there is a book #2 ON THE RECORD scheduled for late Summer. Be forewarned-- it does end on a cliffhanger and leaves you with a "book hangover". This book is so good, you should still read it and experience Liz's journey into adulthood and maturity.

I picked up Off the Record with a little bit of hesitance, because politics bore me to death and I can't really picture a sexy senator. I just can't. But I love K.A Lindle, and decided to give it a shot. I love Brady Maxwell, he is such a dirty talker. I liked Liz's character, but there were some times I wanted to smack the crap out of her, she's a pushover. Can she not tell she's being used?! She's the dirty little secret?!

I did enjoy this book. Even though there were some boring parts (for me), the relationship between Liz and Brady was HOT. There was a lot of good angsty tension between the couple. The ending.. ehh I didn't like. I get it.. it fit.. it wasn't what I wanted. Also, the whole time I was waiting for some shit to hit the fan, and it really didn't. I wanted a bit more drama!

Overall, I liked it and would recommend it. I can't wait to see what happens next.

3.5 stars! I enjoyed Brady and Liz and I really liked the journalist/Congress plot but I just didn't buy into the whole this has to be a huge secret angle. I am from McLean, VA and government employee is the family business. I even understand North Carolina politics having lived in Wrightsville Beach for a few years during election season. So much of the secret details fell short for me. Sure, keep it a secret and meet quietly before you know you love someone. Once you are all in, then go for it. He is single, she is single and they only thing skeevy is the age difference. Well if they make it official, engagement, ring, etc... there should be no issue at a state level race. I mean the age of consent in North Carolina is 16. Need I mention that this is the home state to John Edwards, former VP/Prez candidate and master of the unforgivable affair who was still able to get over a million votes in the primary?

That said I still want to read more about Brady and Liz and Hayden. I know this author is not afraid to marry people off to the wrong person to further a plot line so I am excited to see where she goes with this.
