    Trish Purnell-Webb is an Australian clinical psychologist who became the first certified Gottman therapist in Australia in 2013. She then continued her training to become the first master trainer and consultant for the Gottman Institute in Australia in 2015. She has been in private practise as a psychologist since 1997 after a twenty-year career in organisational training and development in both government and corporate organisations while also raising three children with the help of her husband, Mark. Trish has always been fascinated by the impact relationships have on our sense of well-being and satisfaction, whether they are work relationships or intimate relationships. In her work providing executive coaching to senior members of organisations throughout Australia, she came to understand that intimate relationships had a profound effect on an individual’s ability to perform in life. This led her to explore the question “How can we help people have more successful relationships?” It also led her to the research work of John and Julie Gottman, and her fate was sealed. Since 2009, Trish has focussed on working with couples both in her private practise in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia, and on training therapists throughout Australia, New Zealand, and Asia to become more effective in successfully working with couples. Along with her business partner, John, Trish also runs couple workshops across Australia and New Zealand using the evidenced-based Art and Science of Love Couples Workshop developed by John and Julie Gottman. Trish conceived of this book as a resource for couples to use as a relapse prevention tool after they complete either a workshop or couples therapy with Gottman-trained therapists. Trish still lives on the Gold Coast with her husband of forty-one years and is the proud grandmother of five beautiful grandchildren to whom she devotes much of her time. John Flanagan is a mental health accredited social worker in private practise, completing his bachelor’s of social work in 1988 and later a master’s in gestalt therapy. He was the first social worker to become a certified Gottman therapist in Australia in 2015, and he became the second master trainer and consultant in 2019. John has had an extensive history in direct service delivery with couples, families, and young people, as well as in organisational development and training. He has developed a practise that utilises a range of experiential therapies combining these approaches in his work style. John has also completed his Certificate IV in workplace training and assessment and has delivered a broad range of training, both accredited and non-accredited. John knows the incredible value in attending to relationships, as well as the importance of how they are formed, maintained and developed. In over thirty years of working within complex environments and relationships, he has developed a strong speciality in understanding and guiding complex interactions and relationships. He has provided training to many individuals and human service organisations in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and the United States about creating positive work cultures, managing challenging clients, resilience, and communication. Over the last twenty years, John has provided a range of psycho-educational group programs to Australian veterans and their families in areas such as trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and resilience.

      So I might have stayed up really late last night finishing this book. Devouring it whole is probably a fairly apt descriptor. And now I want to read it again. Reread the whole series, really.

      The marketing of this series fascinates me. I know I need to check the children's section of my local bookshops if I want to find them. They are classified as juvenile fiction, or maybe sometimes as YA (I can't say as I have ever found them shelved in the YA/teen section, however). When the series starts, Will and his friends are fifteen years old, but by this last book they are, at an absolute minimum, in their mid-30s. That's a huge range of ages for a series of books aimed at children, but somehow it works.

      this book is very action packed the main characters are the stealer, will and his apprentice maddie they set out after the stealer and his gang to save 10 children from being turned into slaves. if you read this book expect a lot of action

      This book picks up on were Alys ( probably spelled that wrong) dies in a fire saving a young girl. Will then goes on a murderous rampage to catch the bandates who started the fire. In castle Aruleun Cassandras duaghter is driving her craxy with her adventures in the forest. Halt then decindes it would be a googd idea for Will to take on a apprentice and who better than Maddie ( the Daughter). They then wind up fighting a band of slave traders. This book was awesome. It left at a cliff hanger a little so im hoping for a next book. I could read this book again and again. Also it follows the plot triangle very well. I would say it was a very googd ending to Wills story and had a lot of real life problems in this book.

      Although our family has followed this series from book #1, we were disappointed at the emphasis that it has started to take to give girls the same desire to protect and to defend the "kingdom" as the boys who apprenticed. The author did not over-extend here abilities to make her super-woman, as some fiction writers are want to do. He did allow for her strength being less than a man's and therefore she had to compensate in other ways, but the role was still protect and defend. It lessened the "realness" of the book.

      My family still enjoyed it.

      I never would have thought the Flanagan would bring this series to an end, choosing to instead let it just sort of hang out there. This book wraps up the series, in my opinion as it has been quite a few years since the previous book. It is great to see Will back in action, even as an adult.

      Basic Storyline: Will is torn up by the unfortunate death of his wife, and is on a spree to kill the man./men responsible. To bring him out of this dark side, Halt and Galin propose to give him an apprentice to train. Turns out that Horace and Cassandra's daughter is of an age, and they are currently exasperated with her teenage rebelliousness. Long story short, she is assigned as an apprentice to Will, bringing about the acceptance of females into the Ranger's, as well as a new weapon they can use.

      Though much of the story was somewhat predictable, and the writing set obviously for a more YA crowd, I thoroughly enjoyed returning to the tale of the Rangers again.

      A transitional story from the original apprentice series to the next generation (and series) of rangers. Halt has retired; Will has matured. He’s also taken on an apprentice. She is not just the first female trainee, she’s also his goddaughter and the only child of his two best childhood friends Queen Cassandra and The Oak Leaf Knight Horace. I like that the story acknowledges physical differences in strength and finds ways for Maddie to still be a ranger without making her into Wonder Woman or some kind of super freak. This makes me look forward to this new series as the author tackles a heroine as the central character.

      As wonderfully enjoyable as the rest of the series. I liked getting back to the smaller tasks of a Ranger's life instead of the epic international missions. However, I think the story is over now. If I want more of this world, I'll start rereading.

      I was never bothered by the relative lack of female characters in these stories. In fact, one thing that I love about them is the complex male characters and the relationships between the men and boys. I found myself missing that a bit. I loved the attention to weapons and technique and that Flanagan corrected some of the shoddy techniques of earlier characters.

      This book is amazing. The plot is about a rebellious young princess to the kingdom of Alorian who sneaks out in the night to hunt in the rolling forest outside of castle Alorian has gone one too many times. Her parents on their wits end final give in to an ex ranger who had suggested she become part of the Ranger Corps an elite group of independent soldiers who specialize in certain forest, horsemanship, and weapon skills. She proves to be the perfect candidate with one drawback., her time in the castle has left her with an attitude that will take time for the Ranger who she will be apprenticing with to fix. That ranger is Will Treaty. Now Will was having some problems of his own. He had just recently lost his wife to a gang of kidnappers who to escape had set an inn on fire. There was a girl trapped inside so Alyss(for that was her name)rushed in to save her. She died in doing so. So Will had his own vendetta that the rebellious princess had practically threw from his mind until their first mission. In that mission he came face to face with his wife's killer and in the end successfully killed him. In the end the princess is offered to go back home, but takes the option to stay on and finish her training. This is book twelve of the series. It is also going to be the last. The most recent one of these books other than this one I read two years ago. The last one of John Flanagan's books I read one year ago and that was the brother band series which took up the time between the old Ranger's Apprentice and this new one. So this turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It made you wonder what Halt Will's mentor was thinking when Will was in training all of those books ago. The introducing of the characters as having aged between books 11 and 12 more than any other because of the actual two year gap between the books made it interesting.

      A few years ago, with the publication of The Emperor of Nihon-ja, it seemed like the Ranger's Apprentice series was over. Well, he's baaack and the books are just as good as before. This is a young adult series, but it can easily be enjoyed by adults also. Flanagan has created an vibrant world and a believable cast of characters. Great series!

      Will Treaty is out for revenge for the death of his wife, and his friends, including Halt, Horace, and Cassandra, are worried about him. Horace and Cassandra have other worries too. Their daughter, Princess Maddie is headstrong and stubborn, and may not be fit to rule. The solution is for Maddie to be apprenticed to Will, the first girl ever apprenticed as a Ranger, and bringing the sling as a weapon to the Corp. But Maddie isn't ready for life as a Ranger's apprenctice, and it may just cost her her life, or Will his.

      Filled with Flanagan's trademark dry humor, well-paced plot twists, and stirring adventure, this is a worthy conclusion to an epic series, thought I hate to see the end! I do hope Flanagan relents and writes more about the Rangers.

      Oh how I love this series! Not only do my 4th grade boys on up through high school adore it, but it really does teach some lessons without coming across as preachy. Lets face it, there is only so much of "wimpy Kid" and it's ilk that you can handle and this is such a great alternative. I did find it a bit depressing at times and some boys may want more action and less talking but still a great way to end the series and yes, I can see another series dealing with "girl rangers" in the future.

      5 STARSI love this series. They say this is the last book, but I won't mind if more come out at all. I would read them.The plot is years after the last book and things have changed a lot. Will is in a depression state. He has refused Ranger assignments. Horace and Cassandra are frustrated parents at wits end. plus Cassandra is running the country. Halt has a plan.The main characters are back but most of them have a small part except Will and his new apprentice.I love these characters. They are so likable so real to me.Even Tugs are back.The setting is at least 16 years since we have seen them. Araluen is still ruled by King Duncan but he is ill so Princess Cassandra is running the country.Once I started the book I did not want to put it down till I had finished reading it.I hope this book will bridge a new series starting from the old one.Fans of the series will love it. It is aimed at boys but all ages can enjoy. My daughter was in High school when she started reading the series. So I love it.       This final book in the Ranger's Apprentice series begins with a grieving Will and a spoiled princess. Maddie has taken to sneaking out of the castle and wandering the forest nearby. This frightens her mother and father. Maddie's defiance has put them at the far end of their patience. When the commander of the Rangers suggests that Maddie be placed as Will's apprentice, it is his goal to kill two birds with one stone.Will needs some new purpose in his life to derail him from his single-minded pursuit of the outlaw who was instrumental in causing the death of his beloved wife Alyss and Maddie needs a purpose in her life to turn her into the kind of person who will one day inherit the throne.The first part of the story has Maddie learning to be a Ranger and learning to be a less selfish and self-centered person. The next part of the book has she and Will going on a mission to investigate the death of another Ranger. No Ranger can believe that he fell from his horse and broke his neck. Rangers are too good at riding and their horses are something special too.It doesn't take long for Will and Maddie to stumble into a kidnapping ring that is gathering children to sell as slaves. It happens that the gang is being led by the outlaw that Will has been searching for. Will and Maddie have lots of adventures as they track down the gang and rescue the children. This story was filled with action and adventure. It was also a good story about growing up and also learning to live again after a devastating loss. I liked that Will found himself repeating to Maddie some of the same things that Halt had told him when he was an apprentice. The story really did make a full circle back to its beginning.

      With this book being the last one in the "Ranger's Apprentice" series, I had high expectations, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. Flanagan brings the series full circle with Will, probably in his forties at this point, taking on his own apprentice to train. This book has all the characteristics that I've come to expect from Flanagan: nail-biting suspense, lovable characters, quirky humor, page-turning action, nasty bad guys, and a few surprising twists. However, I was a bit nostalgic for the feel that came from Will being an apprentice with Halt as his mentor that came from the earlier books; but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed "The Royal Ranger." It's been a long time since I've been so sad to finish a book series. I'll definitely be looking for more books by John Flanagan!

      Great Series! Many reluctant readers will read the entire series and ask for other books that are similar. I have yet to find any that matches the Ranger's Apprentice.Thank goodness this book seems to be more of a beginning then an end.

      If you enjoyed the rest of this series, you will enjoy this book. It was a fitting end. Although, I do have to say I missed some of the regular characters, the only one to play a big role in this book is Will. I started reading this series because my (then) 9 year old wanted to read them. But, I have enjoyed it and highly recommend it if you enjoy YA books and good, clean adventure stories.
