About this audiobook

The bestselling author of Hold Me Tight presents a revolutionary new understanding of why and how we love, based on cutting-edge research.

Every day, we hear of relationships failing and questions of whether humans are meant to be monogamous. LOVE SENSE presents new scientific evidence that tells us that humans are meant to mate for life. Dr. Johnson explains that romantic love is an attachment bond, just like that between mother and child, and shows us how to develop our "love sense"--our ability to develop long-lasting relationships. Love is not the least bit illogical or random, but actually an ordered and wise recipe for survival. LOVE SENSE covers the three stages of a relationship and how to best weather them; the intelligence of emotions and the logic of love; the physical and psychological benefits of secure love; and much more. Based on groundbreaking research, LOVE SENSE will change the way we think about love.

The importance of relationships and the skills required to deepen and sustain them are definitively advocated in this book.

I think Sue Johnson is right: people NEED connection and meaningful relationships in life. Not just romantic relationships, but certainly all relationships start there with the two people that bring a young person into the world. This book focuses on the impact an individual’s attachment style has on their relationships in life. It is a nice blend of science and research as well as stories and examples from her practice. It’s dense and can drag in a few spots, but overall very interesting and should be heard by all.

People need education on empathy, relationships, and human connection as these truly are the bedrock of any productive society.

It helped me see that when I or my partner are defensive or angry it is due to fear or mistrust, and so I can turn my attention to where I or my partner feels vulnerable or scared, so rather than being focused on being right or appeasing or opposing and go right to the underlying vulnerable element, with care.
