About this audiobook

Toni Davis's Christmas wish list

1. Springing my best friend from the psych ward.

2. Living somewhere that doesn't have coffins in the basement. Occupied coffins.

3. Finding Mr. Right. Please make him tall, dark, handsome, and alive.

This Christmas isn't so merry for Toni. Her best friend's been locked up in a mental hospital ever since she told the police she was attacked by vampires, and the only way for Toni to get her out is to prove that bloodsuckers really do exist. So she's taken a job as a bodyguard for the Undead, but she gets more than she bargained for, especially when she meets Ian MacPhie, a Scottish rascal looking for Ms. Right.

Although Ian's nearly five centuries old, he looks and acts like a twenty-seven-year-old hunk.

How can a dead man be so damn sexy? Could Mr. Wrong be Mr. Right? One forbidden kiss could lead to an eternity of passion—and all it takes is one moment under the mistletoe . . .

This book didn't hold the same wit Ms. Sparks' other books held. I had to push myself a bit further in the book before I was dragged under and usually it's instantaneous with her books. I do like that Ms. Sparks is starting to feel around in the were-animal realm of things, makes it interesting to see if she will write an HEA for a were instead of a vamp one of these books. I had a feeling Ian's book would be coming once he "grew up" in the last book, and I am super glad he got the opportunity for his HEA.

I think Toni's head is a bit off in this book, she gets attacked by evil vampires and the same day accepts there are vampires and starts working for them; I know it was to help her friend and all but part of that just didn't sit right with me. I love these two characters together, I am glad Ian has a female to push him around after so many years. This book was good but not as good as previous books, maybe the next one will be better.

I quite liked this book. I was amused by the lengths desperate women would go to in order to catch a "hottie" and I was sympathetic to the plight of a 500 yearold vampire who has suddenly grown up. I admired Toni's dedication to helping out her friend Sabrina but was disgusted my Sabrina's attitude regarding those who are different. Sabrina likes to think that she would be altruistic in setting up an orpanage and schoool that would love children who were otherwise abandoned, but shes hypocritical enough to essentially declare that some children are better than others due to their birth and some shouldn't be loved. If you can ignore Sabrina then you'll enjoy the comedic elements of this story.

This is the 5th book in the series. So, far I have enjoyed reading all of the books in the series. The author writes really fun and exciting vampires. But so far my favorites have been the Scottish Vamps that run the Security firm in the series. They play a major role in each book, but have only been the hero in two of the books. This one, and Be Still My Vampire Heart. Hopefully more of the Scottish hotties with be featured in future books. If your looking for something fun to read, any of these books would be in that category.

All I Wand For Christmas Is A Vampire is the story of Ian one of the highland guards and Toni the newest daytime guard. Ian is looking for a female vamp to be his true love. Toni is undercover doing security trying to find evidence that vampires are real. Along the way it fallows the same pattern as the rest of the series but it is also hillarious at parts.

The fifth volume in the "Love At Stake" series finds a newly aged Ian McPhie looking for for a vampire of his own to love. He has put a personal ad online and the vampire women are flocking to him. But even though Ian has always wanted to hook up with a vampire woman, he finds himself strongly attracted to mortal and new security guard Toni. Toni has secrets. Her best friend was recently attacked by vampires and is in a mental hospital. When Toni went in search of the bad vampires, she gets attacked as well. Saved by one of the good vamps, Toni finds herself being won over by this group of vampires who only drink synthetic blood. Can she save her friend from the hospital and still persue a relationship with Ian? This is probably the best in the "Love at Stake" series, after the first one. "How to Marry A Millionaire Vampire" is still the best vampire romance I have read to date. The volumes between the first and the fourth made me leery of the series because they seemed to follow the romantic formula too much. But I find that Sparks is adding new characters, adding new paranormals, and making a twisted enemy in the Malcontents or 'bad vampires'. I love urban fantasy and dark paranormal stories. I find no reason why a romance can't add some of the qualities you find in the 'darker' genres to mix it up a little, and still stay a romance story. The bits of humor here still work nicely. The biggest fault that Ms. Spark's stories have is that her character's have these great, different personalities but once she make them the "lead" character, they tend to seem just like all the other previous "Lead" characters. They lose some of what made them unique in the previous books. If she could overcome this one complaint, I think this would make it an even better series.

This was quite a fun read. I haven't read any of the earlier books in the series, but that didn't seem to matter. You get enough background that you don't feel lost, but not so much that it bogs down the story. Christmas doesn't feature all that prominently but the season does contribute some nice moments in the story. And it does have a detailed and well-plotted story arc.

I've read enough of Kerrelyn Sparks' books now that I know when I pick one up, I'll get a fun, entertaining, and romantic read. Ms. Sparks has a great sense of humor that resonates with me and a real talent for writing funny scenes and dialog. I often don't see the punch line coming, which makes these parts that much more hilarious. I haven't had a book crack me up as much as this one did in quite a while. Most rom coms come off as rather inane to me, like the author was trying too hard to be funny. Not so, with Ms. Sparks. Her humor is an organic part of the story, but her books are not just fun and games. She also has an equal talent for creating emotional moments and swoon-worthy scenes that are exactly what I read romance for. She definitely knows how to maintain the delicate balance between these two elements to create a wonderful story, and All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire was certainly no exception.I've adored Ian since the Love at Stake series began, so I was eagerly looking forward to reading his story. He's a total sweetheart, who up until the last book, perpetually looked like a fifteen year old boy, because that's the age at which he was turned into a vampire. Even though he was nearly 500 years old, he couldn't get women (at least not without using a bit of mind control), and he couldn't get any respect, even from his fellow vampires who knew how old he was. They just couldn't seem to get past him looking like a kid to treat him like the mature man he was inside. In The Undead Next Door, he used Roman's Stay-Awake drug, which finally aged him into a twenty-seven year old man, and now he wants more than anything to find true love. Even now that Ian looks like a full-grown man, he's still having issues with fulfilling that dream. There are plenty of loose women at the Horny Devils, the vampire club started by Roman's ex-harem, but Ian isn't turned on by them in the least. He wants true love, not a one-night stand. He's also an old-fashioned, chivalrous gentleman, which not all the ladies seem to appreciate, but which I loved. He's looking for a woman who is honest, loyal, intelligent and pretty (all good attributes in my book), who loves him for who he is, but since it was nearly impossible for him to court or date women through the centuries, he has virtually no idea how to go about it. His awkwardness because of his rapid growth spurt and his uncertainties where women are concerned are utterly endearing. When he first meets Toni, he ends up flirting with her and doesn't even realize he's doing it. Ian is every bit as sweet as he was before he aged twelve years. I was thrilled to see that only his body changed, not his personality, but at the same time, he definitely proves how manly he is by uttering some of the steamiest lines I've ever read in a romance. Ian is so scrumptiously sexy, he finds himself up to his eyeballs in women who want him in very short order, but there's only one woman he truly wants.Toni begins the story with a bit of a chip on her shoulder where vampires are concerned but with good reason. Her best friend, Sabrina, was attacked by vampires in the park and then committed to the psych ward when she told the police and medical personnel the truth of what happened. She begged Toni to prove that vampires really exist, so she could be released. Not entirely believing Sabrina herself, Toni goes to the park the next night, only to be attacked as well. The only reason the Malcontents didn't end up killing her is that Connor came to her rescue and teleported her away. Since she had fought bravely and already knew of the vampires' existence, he offered her a job as a day-time security guard, which Toni eagerly accepted, hoping to find evidence that would free Sabrina. She and Ian don't exactly get off on the right foot. He immediately suspects her of being up to something, and she thinks he's arrogant, in part because of all the women who are clamoring for his attention. Toni is quick-witted with a sarcastic, sharp-edged tongue that sometime makes her say hurtful things at first, but she harbors some obvious vulnerabilities that make her very relatable. Her family never loved or supported her, except her grandmother, and Toni has some deep-seated guilt about her grandmother's death. After Sabrina is committed, this guilt surfaces as Toni starts to believe that she always lets down the people she cares about the most. I could relate to the four affirmations she repeats to herself every morning in an attempt to actually believe them. These also showed just how vulnerable she was, but at the same time, I admired her scrappy, independent spirit and her unwavering loyalty to her friends. That devotion eventually extends to Ian as well, and I loved how she courageously wanted to fight the Malcontents by his side. All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire boasts a very full and diverse cast of secondary characters. Most of the previous heroes and heroines return in supporting roles or at the very least, pop in for a quick visit. Roman and Shanna (How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire) play fairly strong roles along with their adorable little son, Constantine, who has some pretty amazing gifts. Angus and Emma (Be Still My Vampire Heart) are seen briefly, and Jean-Luc and Heather (The Undead Next Door), a little more. There are also plenty of future heroes and heroines as well, including Vanda (Forbidden Nights with a Vampire), Phineas (Wanted: Undead or Alive), Connor (Vampire Mine), Howard (Wild about You) who we learn a little new information about, Gregori (Sexiest Vampire Alive), Dougal (The Vampire With the Dragon Tattoo), Zoltan (How to Seduce a Vampire (Without Really Trying)), Robby (The Vampire and the Virgin), and last but certainly not least, Giacomo aka Jack who will become the hero of the next book in the series, Secret Life of a Vampire. We are also introduced to Toni's other best friend, Carlos, who has some secrets of his own and plays a pivotal role in helping Toni spring her friend from the loony bin. He will become the hero of Eat, Prey, Love. I also don't think we've seen the last of Sabrina or Teddy, a geeky psych ward patient who looks out for her well-being. I thought Teddy was particularly cute and was so glad they didn't leave him behind during the escape. It seems Roman might have a very special place in his organization for these two mortals.Admittedly, the Christmas theme in All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire wasn't quite as strong as I would have hoped, but there was a fun Christmas costume ball, and I positively loved the vampires' Secret Santa program. If I were a vampire with all the special powers that go along with it, that's what I would do at Christmas too.:-) Overall, All I Want for Christmas Is a Vampire was a highly entertaining read that in turn made me laugh, say “Awww, how sweet and romantic,” and fan myself. It was a great book for Christmastime or anytime of the year. I can't wait to read Jack's book next.

Toni is furious that her best friend is locked up in a mental hospital by her only relatives, and Toni is determined to free her at any cost. After she gets attacks by Malcontents, Toni has a hatred for vampires, but then is saved by Connor, who after seeing her fight them off, asks her to be a guard for them during the day. Toni promising her friend to find proof that vampires exist so that her friend can be freed, agrees. There is one man who she has a hard time resisting, Ian MacPhie, who stirs every sense in her and she feels herself pulled into two different directions. Ian, after taking the aging potion, a very painful process, now looks ten years older than before, and looking for ms. right to spend eternity with. After centuries of the guilt of being with mortal women and altering their memories to make them see him as older, he is determined to only fall for Vamp women, however fate sometimes gets in the way, and before he knows it, he can't resist Toni and even though he knows she is hiding things from him, he can't get her out of his system, and crave her even more, but there is a danger with the Malcontents and he hopes that he can be able to protect her...All I Want For Christmas is the fifth in the Love At Stake series written by Kerrelyn Sparks. As far as Vampire Series go, this is one of my favorites to read, I just have loved every one of Sparks books, and I just can't get enough of this amazing author, that draws me into stories, like bee's to honey. In This book was fun to read, and helped me to get into get into the Christmas season, with a bit of a bite about it :) Throughout the story, there seemed to be a emotional ring to it, yet still be full of action and romance....The characters had sparkling personalities that seemed very enchanting, and I kept cheering for these two throughout all of it. From the first to the last page, I found myself engaged and involved throughout all of it, that I could hardly keep my feet of the floor, such a fantastic read!!! I LOVED IT!!!!!My Favorite Quote:Ian stepped closer to her, gritting his teeth. "We're no' babies. We're seasoned warriors."She affected a big shudder " Ooh, I'm scared"

Reviewed for queuemyreview.com; book release Nov08Humor and romance with just the right amount of heat, that would be my short description of “All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire” by Kerrelyn Sparks. This book is part of her ‘Love at Stake’ series about vampires in the modern world and I think the series has improved with each book she’s written. They’re certainly not ‘serious reads’, but if you’re looking for a book that will leave you with a grin, this is a good series to try.Toni is a woman on a mission. Her best friend and soul sister is currently incarcerated in a psych ward. She was attacked by vampires but nobody (including Toni at first) believed her. Well, being the great friend she is, Toni sets out to prove the existence of vampires. When she herself is attacked by ‘bad’ vampires and then saved by a ‘good’ vampire (although she really can’t believe there is such a thing as a good vampire), she becomes a believer. She even goes so far as to become a daytime bodyguard for the sleeping vamps! Now if she can just find some proof, she can spring her friend and go back to her normal life. Ian is nearly 500 years old, but until recently he has resembled the 15-year-old lad he was when he became a vampire. When his boss invented a ‘stay-awake’ drug for vamps, an unintended side effect was aging one year for every day a vamp spent on the drug. While most vamps would shudder in horror, this was a dream come true for Ian who is truly tired of all the consequences of looking like a youngster. He’s ready to find his true love and settle down for an eternity of wedded bliss, with a vampire that is. Because there’s no way his true love could be a human…right? What a pair! Toni is having a hard time getting over her vicious attack. How could she ever be attracted to a vampire? And poor Ian with his 15th century values can’t believe he’s having such a hard time finding THE vamp for him. He’s so drawn to Toni who has all the qualities he’s looking for in a woman…except she’s alive. ‘Watching’ these two come together is better than any soap opera. Ian’s efforts at wooing will have you in stitches. Especially once his friend helps him out by putting his information in an online dating service! Hilarity ensues. But these two are actually perfect for each other. They just need to get over their prejudices and realize that there are good and bad in every race and every situation…finding the good just takes more work. Too true. There are really only two things that relate to the Christmas referenced in the title, other than the time of year the book is set. A party full of male vamps in Santa suits is one, and I don’t want to give away the other although it will have you saying, “Awww, that’s so sweet.” Probably one of the most creative uses of Santa and Christmas I’ve read in a humorous romance.“All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire” is a book to read on a cold day, beside a warm fire, with a glass of your favorite beverage by your side. The heat generated by this pair of lovers will warm you up a bit, and the interplay between them will keep you laughing. Kerrelyn Sparks will give you a few hours of escape from your holiday chores with this sparkling tale.

It made me laugh, cry, and cheer for love. Sort of makes you want your very own Scottish Vampire for Christmas :)What I thought of the story/characters: All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire is filled with wonderful characters that will make you want to read each of their stories. I will admit this is my first K. Sparks book (yes I know I read out of order) but she just landed on my series to read list for next year. I want to know all about this group of vampires and shifters. I want to know how their lives turn out and how they each find love. The story of Ian and Toni was sweet. I love when it is the guy who is looking for forever romance and love. It is such a unique twist. I loved that Toni was looking to help her friend. They were just suited for each other from the beginning. Maybe it is the season but I am sucker for a HEA that is meant to be.What I thought of the audio: Narrated by Coleen Marlo and she did a pretty good job. There were more male than female voices though. I thought this book would have been better suited for a male narrator. The pacing was excellent and she did as well as can be expected with so many male voices. I think I will be reading the rest of the series though instead of continuing on audio.

This was a good one. I love the addition of Carlos to the story. I hope to read more about him in future books. Toni is a great character. She's strong, and stubborn, but also very loyal and compassionate. I think she is the perfect match for Ian. The struggles they face are different than some of the other couples, not only does Toni already know about vampires when they meat, but her reasons for disliking them go far beyond what other mortal women have felt. I love the side story with Sabrina too and wonder if we will see some more of her in the future books.
