About this audiobook

Determined to save a damsel in distress, the Sunshine State’s favorite serial killer and encyclopedia of Florida lore Serge Storms dances a tango of death and mayhem in this funny and dementedly entertaining crime caper from Tim Dorsey, author of the New York Times bestseller The Riptide, Ultra-Glide.

Thanks to the Internet, America has become a playground for ruthless scam artists out to make an easy buck. And where do these models of entrepreneurship hail from? Why, the Sunshine State of course!

No one loves Florida more, or can keep it safe from invasive criminal species better than self-appointed Sunshine Sheriff Serge Storms. When a particular scam leads to the death of a few innocents and a young woman's disappearance, Serge and his perpetually self-bent sidekick Coleman—aided by his new pal, latter-day noir private eye Mahoney—load up the car for a riotous road trip to do right. Packed with seafood, mayhem, blood, Coleman’s deep thoughts, Floridian lore, and more, Tiger Shrimp Tango is a hilarious treat from the incomparable Tim Dorsey.

I've read all of Dorsey's Serge/Coleman books, and I think they're getting worse, but I still read them because of bits like this:For anyone who’s had to wait, and wait, to pay for their groceries while somoene ahead of them indugles in their gamlibling addiction, and for anyone who’s tried to use the self-serve check-outs instead, check out the scene in chap 30 of Tim Dorsey’s Tiger Shrimp.

Serge Storms uses his considerable imagination and murderous skills to systematically eliminate a loose band of scam artists preying on people throughout Florida. Serge’s sidekick, Coleman, abuses various substances and provides color commentary. This time Serge is working as a kind of sub-contractor to his old adversary, Agent Mahoney, now retired and a private investigator who narrates his own life in the third person. There are the usual unique Serge murders and stops at famous Florida tourist attractions – Gatorland and the Tupperware Museum this time. Another twisted and entertaining book.

Tiger Shrimp Tango is a book from the start has a pace, good character build up, good scene description, good storyline until the end. The conclusion was well thought out and completed the story. It is nice to read that the good guys win in the end. The book is given a solid four stars here and is recommended if one likes action books.

Oh, my various Gods, Tim Dorsey is so on point with this installment in the Serge Storms saga that I just might walk into random homes at 3 AM and demand that folks read it.

Back are Serge and Coleman, blah, blah, blah... they're after scam artists, with the help of Mahoney and a newcomer. It's paced well, it's funny as hell (I literally laughed out loud - several times - and I almost never do), and it's non-stop entertainment. Seriously - I can't praise Dorsey enough on this one. Job well done sir!

And now? Now we wait for the next installment. Is it ready yet? ... Now? ... How about now?

An easy read, but certainly not the best in the series. Dorsey has the formula down pat, but it almost appears that he is running out of arcane Florida history and unique ways for Serge to kill people. Average at best.

Tim Dorsey is almost back! Gone for the most part is his foray I to negative Republican politics. This story is like most of the others not the most complicated plot, but what is back in full force are creative ways to kill off scum bags and this book has loads of them. It was all great fun. The only problem is the Serge Colman pairings is getting tired. I hope Tim Dorsey will try his hand at another book without Serge and Colman or make them a small part of the story. I would hate for this series to "jump the shark" which is is dangerously close to doing.

In the beginning, I felt like I was getting whiplash every time I picked up this book...later on in the reading, I'm afraid I just felt a bit bored. The book was packed with interesting scenes and interesting characters, but there was just too little time spent in any one place. By the time I got interested, Dorsey was moving on to something else, and the only characters who held any sort of focus were just a bit too crazy and immoral to be likable. Honestly, at any point in the book, any of the characters could have been killed, or Dorsey could have started over entirely, and I wouldn't have been either saddened or surprised.Perhaps the nature of this book made it a more fragmented read than others, so I'll look at some reviews of other Dorsey works before I write him off entirely, but I really didn't enjoy this work. The writing was fine, and a few of the jokes and situations made me smile, but on the whole, I found the book more silly and overwritten than enjoyable, in any way at all.I wouldn't recommend this one, and honestly, I doubt I'll be trying any of Dorsey's other worse any time soon.

If you haven't read any of Tom Dorsey's books you don't know what you're missing so I'll tell you...it's fast moving...entertaining...full of hilarious antics and lunatics you wouldn't believe...give me more of Serge Storms!

No doubt Dorsey is a capable writer of exciting and readable fiction with an encyclopedic knowledge of Floridian history and lore...but his characters in this quickly turn to caricatures of themselves. So what I came away with was rollicking adventure with rather silly characters and some fascinating Florida travelog thrown in.
