About this audiobook

Nancy will have to do some fancy footwork to resolve her predicament in this latest Fancy Nancy story from the beloved New York Times bestselling author-illustrator team Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser.

Much to her dismay, Nancy has been chosen for the relay team in this year's Field Day at school. Despite her many natural talents, Nancy isn't much of a runner. She's afraid of letting her team down—especially after finding out that an unkind (that's another word for mean) girl in her class is on the team too. With a little help from her dad, Nancy tries her best, stands up for herself, and makes a new friend.

Fancy Nancy and the Mean Girl is a Level One I Can Read book, which means it's perfect for children learning to sound out words and sentences. The back matter features a list of the rich vocabulary words that are used throughout the story along with their definition.

Great introduction to bullying and how to stand up for yourself. Nancy loves using fancy words but find it necessary to use plain words to speak up for herself. She gains a new friend and learns it is okay not to win as long as you try and give it your best shot!

In this Fancy Nancy book Nancy overcomes an obstacle when she is chosen for the relay team for field day. Nancy can't run very well and encounters a mean classmate. In the end, Nancy stands up for herself and makes a new friend. This book is great because it shows children that everyone can't do everything well. It also shows that being mean to other people isn't a nice thing to do; that kindness gets you much farther. Nancy shows readers that even if you don't think you are great at something you should try your hardest and that's all that matters. At one point in the book she says "I will run as fast as I can, but we we lose don't say mean stuff." This is a great example for readers.Another great thing is that the illustrations are colorful and detailed while the words are big and clear for the reader to see.

A great book for beginner readers to expand thier vocabulary. Fancy Nancy is not looking forward to field day beacuse she is not athletic and the mean girl does not help.
