I love Fancy Nancy. I love the vocabulary building, and this precocious little girl. She wants to get her sister an awesome birthday present, but then sees a fan that she must have. To afford both, she opens a boutique and sells her old fashions. A fun birthday party is had by all later. A typical Fancy book, and a fun addition to the series.

Fancy Nancy returns in this tenth picture-book devoted to her adventures, once again finding ways to make the world around her a bit more exciting and sparkly. Coveting a fan that is for sale at a local store, Nancy starts her own fashion boutique (AKA, lawn sale) in order to raise money to buy it. When she sells the rhinestone necklace that her younger sister has been wanting to a neighbor instead, she immediately regrets it, wishing she has saved it for JoJo's birthday present. Her actions in setting this right, and in saving JoJo's party when it starts to rain, lead not just to a happy sister, but to a happy ending for her as well...Like its predecessors, Fancy Nancy and the Fabulous Fashion Boutique pairs an engaging and ultimately heartwarming tale with cute and colorful artwork. Although this is the tenth title about Fancy Nancy, it is only the third I have read, and is my favorite in the series thus far. I appreciate the fact that Jane O'Connor's narratives always treat Nancy's desire for sparkle and fanciness with sympathy, but that she also depicts her main character's ability to put aside that desire, when a larger family issue arises. I also appreciate the artwork, with is sweet without being cloying. Recommended to all young fashionistas, and to anyone who has read and enjoyed other books about Fancy Nancy.

Fancy Nancy and her family were preparing for her sister's pirate birthday party. Fancy Nancy bought her sister an eye patch for her sister's birthday party, and then went to another store and sees a Fancy Fan that she wants for herself. However, she had spent most of her money on her sister's birthday present. She didn't have enough money to buy the Fancy Fan after spending her money on her sister's birthday present, so she decides to have a "Fabulous Fashion Boutique" at her house and sell the clothes she doesn't wear anymore to make money to buy her Fancy Fan. A neighbor winds up buying a necklace that Fancy Nancy's little sister decides she wants, but Fancy Nancy sells the necklace to her neighbor to make the money to buy her necklace. However, she felt bad for her sister, and goes to her neighbor and persuade her neighbor to give back the necklace in exchange for her money being returned and two free gifts. Fancy Nancy gives both the eye patch and the necklace to her sister for her birthday! Her sister is very happy, and Fancy Nancy's dad is so proud of her that he buys her the fan that she wants!

This is a cute book about a girl, Nancy, who holds a boutique in her front yard. It would be good to read to students when learning about money. It discusses different ways people try to buy the various items.

Super Cute book about a little girl who sells a bunch of her dress up stuff to buy her sister a birthday gift an eye patch. When she sets up her boutique some kids come by somethings and the little sister sees a rhinestone necklace that has fake diamonds in it. She really wants it but the sister sells it to Wanda one of the twins. The little sister is saddened. NAncy then realizes the little sister Jojo wants that for her birthday so she buys back the necklace and gives it to her sister for birthday. I liked this book because with bigger words it would have parenthesis and explain what the word meant and an action to the word. My personal reaction: It is a great book for little kids who have siblings and can teach them to have patience as well as love their little brother or sister. It also showed how not to be so greedy. Classroom extension: The words that are in parenthesis can be acted out during the book. I think this book would be great for ELL students in the class.

This could be used to teach ELL students that many times while intentions are good, you can get carried away and do the wrong thing. Also the love of two sisters and the sacrifice of one for the others happiness. You could also pick out the French words in the story. You could have your own fashion party... better for girls.Better for girls, but it could be used to teach good use of parenthesis (defines difficult words in the story), repetition uses ooh la la! They could do a text innovation and tell about a time when they made up a way to make money for someone else or bought a gift for someone else. Could also teach how to use hyphens, question marks, and elipses effectively. The book also has an interesting ending. You could teach how to use question endings like: "Don't you love happy endings?"
