I'm really enjoying this series, although this book has some of the same flaws as the first in the series. As other reviewers have said, Zanetti's got an incredible talent for balancing suspense against romance while keeping tension high. Maybe because she packs so much into the books, though, some details slip a bit... If a reader pays (critical) attention, there are tiny plot holes related to motivation and subplots. I'm not even sure I'd pick up on them if I weren't an editor, but with that being my job, I can't help but noticing and being annoyed by them. What bothers me a bit less (because I expect it of the genre at this point, I suspect), but what will probably bother more readers in the long run, is that the romances hinge on insta-lust/insta-love in a way that feels far less believable than the characters themselves. And, in a book where emotion and connection are so incredibly important on a page-by-page basis, that's somewhat hard to ignore.Yet, despite its flaws, this book is hard to put down. Zanetti's characters are living, breathing entities that it's hard not to get wrapped up in, and the suspense elements are twisty enough that, especially if you have a hard time putting these books down (as I do), they move so quickly that the turns and moves in plot can easily take you by surprise, even if they might seem slightly predictable in hindsight--'in hindsight' being key there, of course. So, overall, yes, I'd absolutely recommend this series to readers of romantic suspense. But, make sure you start with the first book--with this series, it definitely matters, though I think this second in the series actually outshines it.

Fast and entertaining read. I love the dynamics between Laney and Matt, with them not knowing each other and then after everything turned upside down for them. I absolutely can't believe that huge bomb in the freaking epilogue!

Well I can honestly say that this book was just as fascinating as part 1 of the Sin brothers. These test tube Black Op brothers are bad!!!!! Excellent storyline. Fast moving and full of action. Would have loved to read Book 3.

Happy that another one of the Sin brothers have found love. This time Matt least expected it. So two down and two more to go.

Sweet Revenge was worth the wait, and I enjoyed it even more than the first book. The oldest brother, Matt, is on a mission to find the doctor who implanted him and his brothers with a kill chip. His journey brings him to a small town where he finds temporary employment at a local bar for his cover. Several females in town fit the description of the doctor he’s looking for; all he has to do is get close enough to each of them to determine which of them worked for the Commander. As the oldest brother, Matt has always felt it was his responsibility to protect and keep his brothers together. The guilt he carries over what happened to their youngest brother weighs on him heavily, and until he meets Laney, revenge and survival have been his primary focus and reason to keep going. Laney, the owner of the bar is initially reluctant to hire Matt but she’s desperate for the help. She can see right away, this man is dangerous in more ways than one:“Are you in trouble, sweetheart?” he asked softly, pushing off from the door.Yes. Definitely. Trouble with all capital letters stood before her like every dangerous fantasy a girl had about tattooed bad boys on motorcycles.”Laney is a tough, sassy, take charge woman who knows how to take care of herself and is used to being on her own. No matter how much she tries to keep her distance from Matt, her heart continues to soften around him. However, because she has her own secrets to hide, she doesn’t’ try to pry into Matt’s situation and past. The passion between them builds into some very scorching love scenes, yet they both agree anything between them is only temporary. An interesting subplot involving a series of murders in town creates major complications for both Matt and Laney. While Laney finds herself the target of a killer, Matt becomes one of the police’s main suspects. Just as I’m trying to sort out the various characters’ motives, Zanettie reveals one doozie of a shocker that completely caught me off guard! From that point on, I did not want to put the book down, and the danger escalates into an intense situation where the odds of their survival look bleak. The drama that unfolds had me on the edge of my seat, and I loved every minute of it. Although this is an excellent story, I did have issues with aspects of believability and the chronological timeline established at the beginning of the series. I know this is fiction, but when the identity and motivation behind the serial killings come to light, the truth is too far-fetched for me to really accept. I also found some inconsistencies in the exact amount of time that has passed between the first and second book which is significant to the three-month countdown until the kill chip is activated. However, this was an ARC, and some of the details may have changed by the official publication date. So far in the series, each novel’s storyline is fully developed, well-executed, and adds depth to the increasing complexity of the major plot. Zanetti has done an amazing job in creating rich, multi-dimensional characters that are easy to connect with and care about. The concept of family and its importance as well as loyalty, and trust are prominent themes that emerge from the series. Furthermore, even though the series is fictional, the author subtly delves into some of the physical and psychological ramifications involved with genetic engineering.I received access to read an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review. Since quotes are taken from a pre-published copy, they may have been changed or omitted from the final version.

Shane, Matt and Nate are back, and the clock is still ticking. The chips embedded in their spines will detonate in six weeks if they can't disable or remove them, and Matt is hot on the heels of the surgeon he believes implanted them. The trail has led him to the quiet town of Charmed, and the lovely bar owner definitely has him charmed. Falling for his boss who has secrets of her own puts him off his game, until her life is threatened and his protective instincts take over. But will he still feel protective and smitten once he discovers what she's been hiding?

I loved Matt and Laney and their somewhat bumpy road down romance lane. I definitely enjoyed their story more than Shane and Josie's. Even though Laney knew that her mysterious and handsome employee and temporary tenant could wreck havoc on her life and heart, she couldn't resist him. Not that she really tried which made their interaction very sexy and endearing. I sympathized with her and her desire to be wanted and loved. To connect with someone who liked her and wanted to protect her. Aside from being sweet and compassionate, she was also independent and (hallelujah!) not a drama queen. I thoroughly enjoyed the absence of self pity or a low self esteem. She accepted the consequences of getting involved with Matt without feelings of inadequacy or fearing rejection, and she didn't run from her evolving feelings. I do like when characters are mature enough to lay the cards on the table and see where the chips fall.

Matt was so sexy, with his slightly dominant nature, his devotion to his brothers and sister-in-law, but also caring about people in general. In case you haven't read the first book, Matt and his brothers were genetically engineered and raised by the whack jobs who created them. Trained in all forms of combat since childhood, these (now) men have gone through hell until their escape a few years prior. They're not emotionally stunted or incapable of love. In fact they have an abundance of it, for each other. When they fall, they fall hard and fast. The women who manage to capture their hearts make them whole and give them even more of a reason to fight and to live. I kind of love the thread that runs through this story of finding love and committing to another person even though they may not have much longer to live. It's just one of those things, like, “Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.” (From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850).

The story had a great pacing and a nice balance of romance versus action. And there is no shortage of action. The love scenes were all sizzling hot (fans self). I also like the few flashbacks to the times the boys were in (captivity) training. If you're new to the series, I think the flashbacks will help you understand the heroes without having read the first book. The writing is really good and all the characters are fleshed out, even down to the villains. They were so depraved, I wanted to rip them out of the pages and stuff them in the garbage disposal. I'm not sure why Laney bothered to learn a little self defense from Matt since the three times she was attacked, she ended up not being able to defend herself. But that's just a very minor complaint or observation. This series continues to grow on me, and the teaser for Nate's story at the end already has me salivating for more.

The bottom line: Pick up this action-packed book and fall in love with the heroes as they wage war with a ruthless enemy in an attempt to save their lives, find their presumably dead baby brother and keep their promises of a HEA with the women they love.

What a great book. It kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. Twist and turns and surprises all the way along. This book is truly thrilling.

This is an outstanding book and I can't wait to read book 1 and 3 (have to wait a bit for that one to come out)

I really liked the push/pull with Matt & Laney. They both had reasons to be angry. They both had things to hide. They both were justified in their positions but it was great watching them break through the barriers. The overall story moved a long nicely but I am beginning to worry about our boys. I mean I think it should all work out but nothing like cutting it down to the wire. The action, story, romance, and characters all delivered in Sweet Revenge. Now I need to get to book 3!Audio Thoughts: Narrated by: Karen White /Length: 12 hrs and 30 mins Karen does an excellent job with this series. She has a great voice for action and romance. Matt Dean, a genetically engineered soldier and former member of a special black ops team, is searching for the woman who can save his life and those of his brothers. All clues lead to Charming, Idaho, a small town that seems to attract women on the run, including Laney Jacobs, the bar owner with a troubled past who brings out all of Matt’s protective instincts. But Matt and Laney have little time for romance when their secrets begin to catch up with them.

As the oldest of the Dean brothers, Matt has taken it upon himself to do what needs to be done in order to protect his siblings often at the expense of his own needs. Consequently, his acting on his attraction to Laney, the first selfish move he has ever made, is all the more intense and emotional.

Laney is an exceedingly likable heroine mainly due to her tendency toward picking up and caring for stray people and animals. Interestingly enough, despite her secrets and the potential for a huge conflict between them, there is very little angst in Laney and Matt's relationship and their romance is good despite the insta-love trope.

As in the first installment, the plot is quite complex with several parallel threads including Matt’s search for the missing doctor, Laney's stalker and the threat posed by the Commander and his minions. On the whole, these storylines are all well developed with a surprising twist or two. Nevertheless, there are one or two questionable moments that require some suspension of disbelief, especially Matt’s injury at the end.

Overall, a fast-paced and action packed romantic suspense read and I’m looking forward to seeing how things work out for the Dean brothers.

Suspenseful romance in spades with enough heat to keep you interested in spite of a sub-plot that fails to deliver, this is a very good read. All the elements of a military special ops hero trying to find his true place in the world and the woman who will ground him are enjoyably present. I really liked this one.

Summary Matt Dean, is the oldest of the four brothers, and has always led and protected his brothers for as long as he can remember. Matt will do anything to save his brothers, and time is ticking. Each of them has chips in their backs, and if they don't get access to the correct codes, they will all die within six weeks. He has come to Charmed, Idaho to find a woman that is behind the making of the chips, but he will need to find her and extract any information he can gain. Recovering from a knife wound, he is stumbled on by Laney Jacobs, a sweet bar owner that takes him in. In exchange for working as a bouncer, he will get a room to stay in. It is the perfect cover for Matt, and he knows that he needs to draw out the woman who is hiding. Laney is running from her past, and even though she knows it can't last, she is enjoying the life she has made in Charmed. The last thing she needs is to get into a relationship with this dangerous man, but there is something about Matt that calls him to her, and she can't resist his sensual kisses or the opening of her heart to him. But there are multiple dangers and secrets that will change everything for Matt and Laney, will the love they have be strong enough?Plot and Story Line After reading the first book, I thought that nothing could get better than the first book, but boy was I wrong. Sweet Revenge was just as good or even better than Forgotten Sins. After seeing the bonds between these brothers, I was super excited for Matt's story. Matt is the oldest brother, and I loved how protective he is of them. We also see how much losing his baby brother is tearing him apart inside. Matt as the oldest, feels responsible, and refuses to lose the brothers he has left.“I’ve lost everyone I’ve ever cared about, and I’ve never loved somebody like this. I can’t lose it, and I won’t lose you … This has nothing to do with equal rights or trust. This is life, and you’re mine.”We see instant sparks between Matt and Lanie. Even though Lanie doesn't trust Matt, she softens toward him and even though they are sexually explosive together, the relationship is so tender and sweet at times.“I love completely, Laney, and I’m sure it’s a pain in the ass … You have my heart and always will.”I just couldn't get enough of these two and it was interesting seeing how strong their bond to each other develops. But there is one secret that totally blew me away...well multiple secrets, but I can tell you without revealing too much, that this secret I DID NOT see coming. This story just gets more and more intense, the suspense builds with each chapter you read. And boy was it intense, both the plot and the romance between Matt and Laney. Matt is quite the alpha male, likes being in control over a situation, is a one woman man, posseisve and sexy as hell. Lanie is spirted and courageous and a fighter. What a backbone she has, and she is quite the match for Matt here. What we also have is the reveal of certain side characters that aren't what they seem. And I thought I was suprised in Forgotten Sins...but oh boy, Sweet Revenge beats Forgotten Sins on the surprises and shocks and those unique twists that build the story even more. I find myself just soaking up every moment and intense scene that Sweet Revenge gives us. This is a story that is intense, poignantly romantic and action packed that builds. I just can't get enough...now onto the third book. I am practically addicted, I have a feeling I am going to have to read all four books because boy there is nothing better than a story that packs a punch like Sweet Revenge does. The Cover I LOVE this cover, and boy sexy as sin right? I love the danger feel to it, with the scruff on his face (I love light scruffiness)Overall View A stunning and action-packed romance that will shake the ground beneath your feet and shock you to the core. A thrilling tale of deceit, danger, and a love to fight for!! STUNNING!!

Oooh I love me some Matt Dean! Sweet Revenge was an amazing read. It was fully developed, the characters were relatable and the suspense gripped me from the beginning. I felt like there was so much going on in this book that it was over almost too soon. But, the great thing about this series in general is the story arc that will connect all of the books. The Dean brothers are still searching for and hoping to destroy the Commander. Along the way they discovered that the people after them aren't the only thing that could kill them. With danger in Idaho and the Commander closing in it is definitely a race against time. "I've lived a dark life, and you're all light. I'd break my own arm before I'd hurt you."~MattNow, they must find one of the doctors who was on duty in the camps they were held in. In his search for said doctor, Matt Dean, the oldest and most responsible of the Dean brothers heads to Charmed, Idaho and meets Laney Jacobs. He can tell Laney is hiding from someone. But Laney is far from a damsel in distress. She is a tough, stubborn, bar-owner who melts at Matt's touch. Matt, a hard, jaded soldier softens under Laney's gaze. These two find love in the most unsuspected place in the midst of all hell breaking loose. There are secrets that are revealed that could tear them a part. And the Commander isn't the only one after them. It takes a lot of trust, and strong will to live through the mission they must go on to save the Dean brothers. Matt is so careful with Laney at first. He tries to coddle her but, she is having none of it. Matt is a yummy, sexy alpha male that will have you lusting and yelling at him in no time. Laney, on the other hand, is all heart and pride. They both don't find it easy to give into their attraction but, with chemistry like these two have they don't hold out for long."But she'd figure out something to save his life. Even if she lost hers."~LaneyWe also see more development of Jory's story. I have a feeling of where that is going but, with Rebecca Zanetti you never know. I was intrigued by Matt in the Forgotten Sins. He was always so hard on himself, and held himself solely responsible for how their lives turned out. It was comforting to see Laney help him carry that load and ease his hardened heart. This book opened up so many more questions to be answered in the remainder of the series and I can't wait to see where it all goes. Sweet Revenge has a perfect balance of love, lust and suspense. Matt and Laney will warm your heart but, also make you laugh out loud with their banter. While each book has its standalone couple story there are overlying story arcs that require you to read from the beginning of the series. Trust me it is so worth it. The Sins Brothers are quickly faves of mine!Happy Reading!*ARC provided by the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review*

There is just something about this series that I completely love. Could be the military aspect or the genetic engineering or it just could be the drop dead sexy Dean brothers. I loved that somebody got under Matt's tough exterior to the semi- mushy center that makes him such a protective brother and lover. I'm so looking forward to Nate's story. Thanks Netgalley for the awesome ARC.

Reviewed by: Rabid Reads. When I first discovered this series I was hesitant to give it a listen because it’s shelved as both Romantic Suspense and Paranormal Romance. And, even though I loved the first installment, I wasn’t sure whether it was because of the ‘new’ factor or legit enjoyment. Well, as it turns out book 1 was no fluke—I really liked this one too—albeit slightly less than FORGOTTEN SINS, but I think that was more Matt’s fault than anything else. He just couldn’t measure up to Shane Dean’s smexiness. Like the first novel, the plot’s very life-or-death thriller with an added dash of evil mastermind. What’s not to love?In the earlier chapters Rebecca Zanetti flashes back to the SIN BROTHERS’ time at the facility to help put Matt’s alpha-ness into perspective. It helped me grasp that this guy really does have the weight of the world on his shoulders, or rather at least all three of his siblings’ lives. It was a smart move on the author’s part that allowed me to sympathize more with his character because after the first book, I thought that Matt was somewhat of a d*ck. That being said, there was still something missing to help me fully make the leap from drill sergeant to love interest. He’s undeniably strong and fiercely protective of his family, but he’s also very serious because he’s the oldest brother, and as a result I found that his dialogue was a little dry at times. It’s hard to pull off flirty when his personality lacks a playful side.Laney on the other hand was an absolute delight! I loved that she was a grey protagonist; her intentions are good, but you know what they say about hindsight… The SIN BROTHERS seem to have a weakness for soft women—well, as far as first impressions go anyway—but Jacobs promptly proves Matt wrong. I liked how her past tied in to a number of plot threads, and I suspect that she’ll play a key role in helping the Deans get out of this whole killer microchip mess before all is said and done. The romance between Laney & Matt was instantaneous, and continued burned hot and bright for the duration of the story. There was however one rather awkward sexy scene that included an attempted murder; it just didn’t sit entirely right with me, but otherwise I have no complaints in the steam department.Karen White continues to work her way up my list of favourite narrators, and with over 150 audiobooks under her belt, it’s easy to understand why. In this series she excels at keeping up with Zanetti’s quick paced writing style, her character voices are consistent from book-to-book, and she’s not afraid to pull out her Southern twang when the need arises. It’s hard to say for sure what I would have rated this novel has I read it instead, but I strongly suspect that White’s narration helped curtail some of the issues that I had with Matt.SWEET REVENGE is a great addition to this series, and I look forward to listening to BLIND FAITH. I think that it’s important that I be properly introduced to all of the SIN BROTHERS before deciding which one is alpha enough to be my new fictional boyfriend.

My Booklist review:Every action-adventure staple is present in Zanetti’s black ops tale of romantic suspense with a conspiracy theory thrown in for good measure. By blowing it up, Matt Grey and his three brothers escaped the training facility where, as test-tube babies, they were trained as killers. Now they vow to take down the commander and his remaining organization, in particular, the female doctor who was instrumental in their creation. Fortunately, since their escape, they’ve established a successful security business to fund their plan. The brothers have tracked the doctor to three possible women living in tiny Charmed, Idaho. There Matt lucks into a job as a bartender, but identifying the nefarious doctor won’t be easy, especially because a serial killer is targeting women in the town. Not only does Matt look suspicious as a newcomer, but his poking around as he tries to determine which of the women is the guilty one makes him even more suspect. Given the bullets, blood, and sex, readers are in for a wild ride.

"I know it’s quick, and it probably doesn’t make a lot of sense, but with who we are? Who we’ve lost? I love you, Matt. I’m keeping you. I always figured somebody was meant for me, and when I found him, I’d know it. The second I saw you in the alley, something in me recognized you." - Laney JacobsI knew it, I KNEW IT that Matt would be a delight to read about! Man, I nearly died with Shane's story, but in this case, there's no "nearly" - I could very well be sitting in Heaven right now, sipping tea with Saint Peter, the way my heart all but flew out of my chest!Matthew Dean, the eldest of the Gray brothers, always knew that, in order for his brothers to stay alive, he must be every part the invincible big brother they all thought him to be. Now, with questions about Jory's status raising - possibly false - hope in his brothers, and the time pressing down on all of them, he must hurry to find Dr. Peters, one of the surgeons who helped plant the deadly chips that threaten the brothers in their spines. He has neither the time nor the mind to develop feelings for the barkeep he uses for his cover. But the Gray brothers were always weak when it came to soft women, and Laney Jacobs is every bit soft and kind, inside and out. Laney thought she had managed to escape the horror that was her early years as a doctor. She left her name and identity behind, starting anew at a small town named Charmed, where her bar is more than enough to keep her safe and stable. When she takes an ex-marine called Matt in and cares for his wounds, proceeding to hire him, she has no idea what she's getting into. Her heart wants the man to stay, but as she later finds out, they couldn't be more wrong for each other. Because Laney's past is more strongly connected to Matt's than they thought - and the secrets and lies they both told each other are bound to make things deadly between them. Can they learn to accept what they have been before the Commander takes them both back? I've said before how rare it is for me to find a couple that I love from both sides. I usually find something to bother me even if I have liked a character - not that it's bad, flaws make fictional people more realistic. But in Matt and Laney's case, I loved even their flaws. They complimented each other - the ultimate Alpha male and the ultimate sweetheart of a woman. I know it sounds sort of chauvinistic, but I really think they made each other look even better when they acted their respective parts in their - kinda fucked up - relationship.Matt was my favorite of the brothers. I loved him from the moment he walked into that bar in Shane's book, and fell for him even harder when Josie KOed him by calling him "big brother" - the guy is an uber Alpha, completely over the top, but the minute a doe-eyed woman talks about family and shows kindness or needs protection, he's like this big, fluffy marshmallow! Particularly covered with hazelnuts, because he doesn't lose toughness in battle. Mmmm, makes me drool just by thinking about it! (Matt, I mean, not the marshmallow, though I wouldn't mind having a bite from both)While in bed, his superior-male side shone even brighter - and no, I still don't consider myself a sexist. With a guy like Matt, it's hard to feel like you're cheating on your feministic theories by admitting to being a weak little woman in need of such a man. I'm not even ashamed to confess that! If you read the book and you see just how much of the "ULTIMATE MAN" Matt is, you'll understand. The fatherly super-soldier was pretty tough, but when it came to lovemaking, he was THE master! Ordering Laney around (I swear, when he repeated slowly "Open. Your. Legs.", I instinctively opened mine before reading about Laney doing the same!), talking in a way that would make a nun blush and then fan herself, being demanding and controlling... I don't like when a guy gets bossy, but Matt pulls it off rather nicely. Oh, and he liked describing what he would do to Laney beforehand - in perfect detail. Sweet Lord!!!Yeah, he did have his asshole moments. But was it wrong of me to swoon even during those? I was like "I want to hit you on the head with a pan" a second before I started "...and then I'm probably gonna beg you to screw my brains out, Mattie, damn you!". See what I mean? No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get myself to hate him!And Laney, oh, Laney was the ultimate female. Not in the way I usually like my heroines to be - badass and sarcastic and cynical Alpha females, like Moira, or Kate Daniels, or Parker Brown, or, hell, Josie from Shane's book - but in a sweet, completely girly way. She was capable of surviving, but the woman's nature screamed for a guy to wrap her up in a blanket and tuck her into bed. Sweet, kind, giving, caring, and sensitive - there wasn't a moment when my heart didn't cry out for her, even when I had found out who she really was. Her phobia was a nice plot twist, one that worked perfectly in Zanetti's favor to tell the story - another reason for her to be protected. And her ways of dealing with Matt when he was being an asshole were a)bitch-slap him or b)yelp, try to run, and then fall flat on her face. ADORABLE! Make no mistake, though, she was not the annoying damsel in distress we female readers hate so much. She was just so feminine, it made even me want to do the honors of keeping her safe from the world. It only stands to reason how she and Matt fit so well together. Yin and Yang at its finest, purest form, people!I can't wait to read Nate's story - I found I liked him better here than I did in the previous book. And seeing as my cousin has bombarded me with possible theories on Jory's current status, I'm all fired up - damn, May seems such a long time from now...PS: Is there a way to let me know just how big the penis of a stegosaurus is? Zanetti seems pretty obsessed with this particular dinosaur's genitals... :P"I love completely, Laney, and I’m sure it’s a pain in the ass. You have my heart and always will." - Matthew Dean
