About this audiobook

With the acclaimed Midnight Breed series, New York Times bestselling author Lara Adrian has written thrilling novels of electrifying romance and heart-pounding suspense-page-turners in which humans and vampires live tenuously side by side. In Crave the Night, Adrian brings the Breed and its world to the brink of war, where even the deepest passion can shatter into violence.

Born and raised to be an emotionless killing machine, Nathan is one of the most lethal Breed vampires in existence. A key member of the Order-an elite group of warriors charged with protecting both mortals and vampires-Nathan executes each mission with flawless precision and a total lack of mercy. Now he must pursue a powerful, hidden enemy. But Nathan's hard discipline and training are no match for the fierce pull he feels toward a young woman he has no right to desire-a woman of wealth and high social standing who has long been promised to another Breed male, and who may also prove to be the key to rooting out Nathan's elusive quarry.

Jordana lives a life of glittering privilege as a member of a prominent Breed family in Boston. Surrounded by fine things and fawning admirers, Jordana wants for nothing-until she crosses paths with a dark, intense warrior from the Order and finds herself swept into an impulsive, sizzling kiss that neither of them will forget. As much as she tries to deny her deep feelings for Nathan, Jordana cannot resist the craving to be near him, to break through his forbidding walls and see the man he truly is. But getting close to Nathan will thrust Jordana into a treacherous new world, forcing her to risk all she has and all she knows about herself and her past. And loving this seductive man could be the most dangerous temptation of all.

I wanted to love this book because I love the Breed series. I just couldn't get into Nathan's and Jordana's relationship. Don't get me wrong, it's a good book, just that this one wasn't one of my favs.

First off, I don't believe I've read any of the other books in this series, so coming in on book twelve meant there were any number of things I wasn't familiar with. It was pretty clear you had to have read the previous books to know (or care about) most of the other characters involved. This is pretty straightforward run of the mill paranormal vampire porn. If you're already a fan of this or similar series, you'll like this one. If gorgeously dangerous psychic vamps (and the author takes every chance to remind us how beautiful and dangerous her characters are, sometime in laughably overblown terms) aren't your thing, you aren't going to like this book. Simple as that. It's entertaining, but they talk too much during sex, and his descriptions of her vagina made me break down in giggle fits because it sounds so damn silly. I don't think the author was trying for ridiculous, but she achieved it.

I really liked the paranormal, but not so much the romance. The overall story is excellent, with great twists and turns and terrific world and character-building, but the sex just takes away from the story. I'd give it a full four stars if the sex didn't detract from the overall story. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a prude -- but the story was so interesting, and the sex just wasn't.

I have not read any of the other Midnight Breed books so I approached this book as a stand alone. I have become the fan of many series this way, by reading a late book followed by devouring the rest of the series but Not this time. I was unable to connect with characters. Their attraction for each other seemed false and forced. So while not a bad year it had none of the qualities to raise it above average .

How is it that I haven't discovered this series before now?! I recently won a copy of Crave the Night by Lara Adrian from LibraryThing. At the time I entered the giveaway, I didn't know that this is book twelve in the series. However, that didn't hinder my reading or enjoyment of it. Jordana is a Breedmate and is a socialite in high standing with her circle of acquaintances. Though she may have the lifestyle of the wealthy, she yearns for something more. The freedom to make her own choices, to make mistakes and grow as a young woman - a privilege taken from her by her father who is determined to make all of her choices for her, including picking the male she will share a blood bond with. Nathan has been raised to be a killing machine with no emotions. The only life he knows is one of pain and torture and he has been taught to control of every situation. That all changes when Jordana walks into his life. He is experiencing conflicting emotions toward the female who he knows is claimed by another man. This was an enticing, steamy read that I couldn't put down once I started. I will definitely be going back to read the series from the beginning and I can't wait to see what the other novels have in store.

Book 12 of the Midnight Breed series. I absolutely love Lara Adrian's books and Crave the Night did not disappoint. Like the other of the series, I loved the story line and the characters! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I'm still trying to get used to the new crop of Order warriors even though most of them are the children of the old warriors. Nathan was always a wonder to me. I mean, was he gonna turn out like Hunter and embrace the Order or was he gonna stay his path with Dragos and take his place once he died? It could've gone either way, but thankfully in the last book, Edge of Dawn, it showed a little of him and it was good. Damn good. So, when I saw this book was about him....I think I might've squealed like a total fangirl. I'm so happy that Nathan not only embraced the life of the Order, but also got a mate and was able to live a little more fully. I love this series and it's still getting better with each book. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I love me some Lara Adrian, and this book doesn't let me down. her characters are always well written, enjoyable and engaging. I enjoy her world, and the people who populate it. The romance is neatly done, with just enough angst to keep you involved. Another great addition to the series!

I was a little disappointed because this one was just kind of flat.First of all, I didn't "feel" the chemistry between Jordana and Nathan. It felt more like insta-lust, the kind you feel when a good girl meets that bad boy you know your dad would want you to stay away from. That feeling of wanting to be the one who tames that tiger. I liked Nathan and Jordana individually though. I kept waiting for the moment Elliott Bentley Squire (Jordana's boyfriend) would be revealed to be a fiend waiting to use her for evil...I am still waiting. Also, I am baffled at where this series is going. Not knowing the true enemy and the enemies motivations didn't really get me excited. It's like now everyone is an Atlantean descendent. Are there any plan old breedmates left anymore? There are just more questions and not enough answers, so this one was just okay for me.

A fascinating romance in a series that is kept from getting old by the underlying storyline that connects the books. Nathan and Jordana's brief encounter in the previous book sets the stage for a tale in which there is more to the characters than even they expect.

I was not aware this was a second installment. I read it anyway and was confused at certain points. Overall, I thought it was just okay. Am not going out to read the first book. I may have enjoyed this more if I read the first book.

I had trouble putting this book down and not as predictable as some romance books, so it kept my interest. There was plenty of chemistry from both the characters and held a plot continued from the book before that was intriguing. I can't wait for the next one, I hope it is about Carys and Rune!

Reading Crave the Night was an enjoyable experience for me and a surprisingly good introduction to the Midnight Breed series. I had not previously read anything else by the author or in the series. The novel starts out following a closed off and intense warrior in the Order named Nathan. You meet his love interest Jordana, a wealthy socialite, through her best friends' fight with her twin brother at a showing at Jordana's museum. They have inexplicable attraction to one another. It's an obvious beginning. At first this seemed like every other Paranormal Romance out there; it was especially similar to JR Ward's work. But once you get into the mystery of Cassian, things really pick up. Cassian appears to be a no-good business man working in the seedier elements of the world. His club is known for having cage fights and BDSM rooms. Cassian's secrets are intriguing and drew me into the world more. The balance between the mystery of Cassian and the heated interactions between Nathan and Jordana made the novel engaging. I think that those looking for an easy, fun summer read for a steamy night will be thoroughly happy with the choice to read Crave the Night. It's not a novel that makes you think, nor is the romance particularly revolutionary. However, sometimes that is exactly what you want!

The Midnight Breed is a splendid example of a series that just keeps getting better with each new addition! It had been a long time since I last read this series, and after thoroughly devouring Crave the Night in a little over a day, I have to step back and wonder why I allowed myself to miss 9 books in between (the last book I read was Book 2, Kiss of Crimson). I will blame it on my general overload on, and then self-imposed hiatus from, paranormal romances; but why did I allow myself to miss Lara Adrian's heady combination of extremely hot and passionate, and pulse throbbing action/suspense, scenes for so long! I will have to remedy that faux pas by going back and catching-up on this captivating series soon!As you can glean from the above intro, although this is book 12 in the series, it can be read as a standalone, as each book centers around a different hero and heroine. All that said, prior characters do play a role in the later books, so if you plan to read a number of these, then they are best read in order from a character development and Midnight Breed world evolution perspective. The Midnight Breed series takes place in a world where vampires and their half-human breed mates live alongside humans and other immortals. The Order breed vampire warriors play a crucial role in maintaining the peace and protecting humans and vampires. Nathan is amongst one of their strongest members. Raised as a hunter, and as a consequence having endured torture and brainwashing aimed at training the denial of his emotions, Nathan believes he is incapable of truly experiencing emotions and, in particular, loving a mate, even if his adoptive parents, who rescued him from his horrific childhood, have tried to cure him of this flaw.Jordana is one of the Breed's most prominent socialites, having been raised by her adoptive father, a well respected, extremely rich businessman. It is well known in society that she is promised to her father's best friend and business partner, a vampire nearly three times her age; all that appears missing to seal their eternal lives together is the blood bond. When Jordana meets Nathan she can't deny her attraction to him and on an impulse kisses him. Nathan knows he has no right to desire Jordana, and is no where in her league, much less capable of giving her the love he deserves; but he can't deny his attraction to her. Fate keeps Jordana and Nathan crossing paths. Then when Jordana becomes a crucial witness to an ongoing investigation that Nathan is in charge of, their true feelings for one another, and political inclinations, get tested. But, as is frequently the case in the best suspenseful novels, nothing is quite as it seems, so be prepared for some incredible plot twists and big-screen worthy action moments, not to mention some intense, Dom-inspired, sexy scenes! Ms. Adrian sure knows how to create some swoon worthy, alpha heroes! Not only is Nathan a great example, but a number of the prior heroes get involved in the mix as they race to protect humans and vampires alike from a mysterious threat to their Midnight Breed world. I highly recommend this book to lovers of paranormal romance. Even if it's been a little while since you've read one--like me--Crave the Night may just be the right fix to get you back in the paranormal romance mood!Source: I received a review copy from Random House in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyed how Nathan and Jordana's story develops as well as the twist about Jordana's birthright. Fast paced action blended with hot, sensual passion makes for a read that delivers a punch for those readers who like paranormal romance. This book can be read as a standalone book, but suggest you read the others. Helps with the character development and to understand the backstory.Love Lara Adrian and her Midnight Breed warriors.

As a long time fan of this series I was very excited to read this book. It was as great as the others. I loved the development of Nathan as the book went on and the strong female character Jordana who didn't know the significance of her 25th birthday but somehow recognized the need to start living the life she wanted anyway. A return of the "original" Order characters was nice. I hope Carys and Rune get the next story as their side story was a tease.

Crave the nightI received this book for free in exchange for an honest review through netgalley I was very excited to see it listed because I have been a fan of the Midnight Breeds series for some time. I loved Nathan's Character from the last book and was interested to see how his character would develop after his harsh upbringing. But you know the saying love conquers all.Jordana Gates character is somewhat new even though she was featured in the last book when didn't know much about her character. Jordana seems lost she feels trapped by the expectations of others and is ready to run away from her life and current responsibilities.Nathan represents freedom and passion and Jordana soon realizes she's tired of being trapped. But Nathan is also feeling trapped having to deal with the emotional damage from his training as a hunter he feels himself a weapon to be used and Jordana makes him feel normal makes him want to feel like more than that. Then there is the twins Cary's & Aric I wish there had been a little more about Cary's and Rune but they will probably have their own book. Aric is very protective of his sister Cary's and Rune seems to love her but his actions in front of Aric at La Notte were questionable Lara Adrian is a great writer her books are always good. I have read all of the full length Breed novels and Loved them all just as I loved this one and recommend them to all you paranormal romance fans out there. But I must also say that all the books have the same theme and the series is pretty predictable at this point. Breed male meets breed mate, they both are instantly attracted to one another they both try to resist the attraction with very fiber of their being, mean while A dangerous adversary is on the loose. Breed Mate is in danger, Breed male saves breed mate. The adversary is defeated and the lovers finally realize they are meant to be. Although the books are good I'm not sure I see any reason to read the next one. But I will recommend this book to paranormal romance fans.

I won this book in the June Early Reviewers batch. I have only read the first Midnight Breed novel, so the world was an unfamiliar one for me. However, Lara Adrian was able to add enough details that I didn't feel the lack. I enjoyed Nathan and Jordana's story. The ending seemed a little fast - like he would accept things he's never accepted before felt implausible - but otherwise I liked it.

I started this series with Kiss of Crimson, the third book in the Midnight Breed series. As soon as I finished it, I picked up the first two books, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Normally, I steer clear of paranormal books, especially if they concern vampires, but the world Adrian has created has many of the elements I enjoy in a romance/romantic suspense book. The focus on a main couple, their budding relationship, their happily ever after and strong storyline. With Crave the Night, the Breed have a new enemy that threatens not only their very existence, but the human world as well. Highly recommend!

His back ground, how he was bred to a be a part of this dark army which operated without emotion...and then, to have him switch sides and fight for the good side...I mean, dang, what kind of conflict must he run across. Now, to throw a woman into the mix who he can resist? Even better. This was a great read full of conflict and tension, it was sexy and funny, and full of drama and romance. It has all the helpings for a great meal of a fantastic read. Jordana is a prominent breed female with some secrets of her own, and some big responsibilities to live up to. Enter Nathan, who doesn't want to want her, but can stay away. He's fighting against his emotions, feeling for the first time, and he knows he isn't good enough for her. Can you spell boom?I totally recommend this book for a great read. It's a fantastic addition to a phenomenal series.

Crave The Night (Midnight Breed #12) by Lara AdrianNathan is Breed vampire and member of the Order. His record is impeccable. For the first time, he begins to lose focus as he is mesmerized by socialite Jordana Gates. I enjoyed hearing Nathan’s story, especially since we were introduced to him when he was thirteen years old in the Drago’s Hunter cell. He was raised to be a killer, never having a childhood. He is rightfully feared. I appreciate that he is a good man/vampire considering what he has been through. Jordana Gates has been raised to be prim and proper in Darkhaven. She is polished and refined. However, I love that she is down to earth and not snotty.I liked Nathan and Jordana together. Nathan was raised as an assassin and Jordana works for an art museum. They seem like such opposites yet they work well together. Crave The Night had so many interesting twists that I was thoroughly engrossed. This in one book that is impossible to put down. The action was nonstop and heart stopping.Lara Adrian is a talented writer whose work I always enjoy. Her stories are original and well written. Each book in the Midnight Breed Series is innovative and captivating. Complimentary copy provided by publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
