About this audiobook

In this dangerously sexy novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Find You in the Dark, a straight-laced college student meets a handsome but enigmatic stranger who lures her into an underground club scene, where she finds it difficult to resist temptation…

Aubrey Duncan understands loss. She knows what rock bottom looks like, and she is determined to crawl back up to the top after the sudden death of her younger sister. She blames herself for her part in the tragedy, convinced that she could have done something, anything, to help her.

In her effort to gain redemption, Aubrey starts fresh at Longwood University and facilitates an addiction support group, hoping she can support someone else in the way she failed her sister. But what she doesn’t count on is an all-consuming fascination with group member Maxx Demelo, a gorgeous, blond, blue-eyed enigma who hides dark secrets behind a carefully constructed mask. He only reveals what he wants others to see. But Aubrey glimpses another Maxx hidden below the surface—a Maxx who is drowning in his own personal hell.

As Aubrey and Maxx develop an attraction too intense to ignore, he pulls her into the dark underbelly of the city club scene, where she is torn by her desire to save him and an inexplicable urge to join him in his downward spiral. Worst of all, she is beginning to love everything she should run away from—a man who threatens to ignite in her a fire that could burn her alive…

If the sanctimonious female lead Aubrey would stop waffling this book would be half its length and have double the punch. What a ridiculous notion that such a judgmental person believes she could be a drug counselor when she doesn't even figure a user has no choice. Its an addiction.

I really enjoyed the book but had to switch to the ebook. The audiobook had obvious gaps and jumps in the reading that were confusing and didn’t match the text

This story is an absolute amazing one! OMG!! So many emotions! I’ve been crying and laughing and wow just so so so many emotions all at once!

Can’t help but feeling so so so sad for Maxx. He is this absolute gorgeous guy with such a strong personality. But drugs taking over his life is just so heartbreaking! And Aubrey trying to pick up all the pieces....My heart goes out to het! So strongly!

The paintings X paints is breathtaking and I can feel the pain he is trying to show..

Will Maxx take the next step....God I hope so. This book end off on a heavy cliffhanger! Starting to listen to the next book immediatly.

My heart so sore at this very moment!

    Highly recommended!!!!

Maybe it makes me immature or expectant of unrealistic actions, but it became really irritating to hear the heroine’s thoughts and then, instead of doing anything about it, saying “but I couldn’t move” or “I couldn’t say anything” or “I couldn’t resist.” I think it was intended to make her seem mature, but really it just allowed her to be walked all over and it made her appear weak. I will say that this book is very unique compared to other romance books - it goes a step deeper from the perspective of an addict. I will listen to the second book in the series, mostly because I hope the heroine actually stands up for herself.

This is a really good story around addiction and how it consumes your life and everything around it. I think it is important to remember that you cannot help someone with an addiction if they do not want help. You can not blame yourself for their choices. This is a very sad story following Aubrey and Maxx. I could not believe this ended the way it did, so I am glad to have book two on hand to continue their story.
