I really enjoyed listening to this book and got lots of great ideas to implement. Even my husband appreciated some of the things he over heard! Thanks for sharing your journey.

I would say anything earth shattering, but very helpful! In her book, Crystal gives helpful strategies for ways to reduce stress, get more/better sleep, and how to make things work better for you! I enjoyed listening to the encouragement of ways I can make my days work better for my life and not become overwhelmed so quickly. Also the reminder that I am the one in control of my decisions and how I approach things was the reminder I needed. I need to do what works best for me, not someone else!

Very inspiring, the information and ideas are great. I do however, recommend reading this book on your own as the voice in the audio book is much like fingers on a chalk board, at least it is for me.

This book turned out to be a great way to start off my reading for 2017. I had expected it to be quick, light read-through, but as it actually contained some practical strategies and advice, I read it slowly and followed several of the activities to help me identify my focus for the year.

In chapter one, I wrote down a list of 'Personal Priorities', which chapter two then got me to expand to a 'My Best Stuff List'. Then I finally narrowed it down in chapter three to a list of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound) goals that I want to focus on this year.
Chapter two also encouraged me to write down a basic morning and evening routine, which has helped me be a bit more deliberate with my time.

Later chapters on finances, home management, dealing with failure, making a difference and looking after yourself were well laid-out and had lots of good advice, which I will be revisiting at a later date.

Each chapter was interspersed with little one-line quotes from other people (writers/historical figures/etc.), which I will definitely look at again when I feel the need for an inspirational quote.

Quotes from the book (actual quotes from Crystal, not the ones from other authors)
    -----------------
"Nobody and nothing was obligating me to do anything except me!"

"I'd rather do a few things well, have my priorities in order, and enjoy life than try to do two hundred things poorly and have a stressed-out, exhausted, passionless existence."

"If you want to be more productive, you need to become the master of your minutes."

"Change must come from within. You have to believe you can change. You have to want to change. And you need to have something worth changing for, like an inspiring, audacious goal. The bottom line is: if you're not willing to put forth effort, you're never going to get very far in life."

"...if you stop focusing on your goals or where you want to go in life, you'll never make any progress.
So dream big dreams. Stick with your goals. Don't give up hope. Don't believe for a second that a small step in the right direction is a pointless exercise. As long as you have breath in your body, opportunity is waiting for you somewhere"

I bought this book primarily to support the author, because her blog was a source of helpful information and ideas when I was going through a rough time. Probably because I had been reading her blog for so long, I didn't find a lot of new information here, and the things that were going to work for me were already things I was doing. However, I can imagine that someone who didn't follow her would find a lot of helpful information and ideas.

This book has many interesting tips and suggestions for all the areas of your life: like home, family, work, finances, fitness, goal setting and self-care.

I really liked the way the book is structured. Each chapter deals with one area, Crystal writes about her own life and experiences, there are tips and ideas how to improve that area for yourself. There are also suggestions for further reading, lists, Q&A letters, and input from other people.
This makes the book easy and fun to read. It's not a boring "how to", but rather like a girlfriend telling you about her own experience (good and bad) and then giving you suggestions for your own life.

I didn't like that the book is so heavily focused on God, faith and church. It's just not my thing, and that's why I didn't give it 5 stars.

Even if you are not Christian you can still enjoy this book and get a lot out of it.

Say Yes to Saying Goodbye!Crystal Paine has a wealth of insight into what it is like to live in survival mode. Even better she has a proven strategy of how to change your life so you no longer have to live that way. By willing to be vulnerable and sharing the story of how she struggled, Crystal gives hope to every reader who takes the time to read this book and put it's recommendations into practice. When I was raising my children, this is the kind of book I needed to help me keep life in balance. if you are struggling with keeping all the plates spinning, Crystal's book will help ou understnad that you don't have to do it all. You can have space and peace and even some guilt-free mommy time.Crystal doesn't offer a one-size-fits-all philosophy on taking back your life. Rather, she provides principles as the framework and you have the opportunity to create a plan that will work for you and your family.I was privileged to be on the launch team and to have a received a pre-publication copy of this book. In Say Goodbye to Survival Mode Crystal Paine doesn't simply give women strategies for using time more wisely, setting goals and reaching them, clearing clutter, and improving finances. Sure all of that is in this book but Crystal shares her story and that is why her tips reached me more than any other personal management book that I have ever read. This is not a clinical assessment with statistics regarding productivity or stock options but instead honest, heartfelt advice from a woman who has lived through survival mode and dug her way out of it.Although our experiences are different, I was able to relate to Crystal on a very personal level. I could feel the emotion in her stories because I have lived with those emotions also. Crystal opens her past wide open and lets the reader see her as her imperfect self. She also acknowledges often that these are the strategies that have worked for her and that not every strategy fits every person because we are all at different points in our lives. There are no "one size fits all" strategies but instead ones that can be adapted to work in your life. Crystal's book truly helped me see things in a different light. Now I approach activities with a different mindset, asking myself if this is a good use of my time and energy before I commit. I ask myself if something will move me closer to my goals and if it doesn't then I may choose to pass on that activity or purchase. It feels a lot different to not get the dishes done because I made the conscious choice to play a game with my girls rather than not getting them done because I spent an hour flitting around on social media sites. This year I am investing in myself and my family more than ever. My activities and financial goals need to reflect that commitment.Crystal has given me tools to change the way I approach things and the encouragement to know I can succeed. Highly recommended!
