Leader of the vampire clan MoonBound, Hunter will do what he must to save his people from extinction-or worse, a torturous eternity as vampire slaves and subjects of human experimentation. To keep his enemies at bay, he has agreed to mate a rival clan leader's daughter in return for peace between the clans and an ally in the looming war with the humans.

But survival comes at a price. First, Hunter must break an ancient curse by successfully negotiating three deadly tests. Then he must resist the searing passions of the gorgeous vampire warrior he despises but is bound to mate with. Will Hunter stay true to his word? Or will he risk everything for the woman he really loves: the vampire seductress's identical twin sister?

Hunter, the Leader of the vampire clan MoonBound, has agreed to an arranged mating to a rival clan, ShadowSpawn, leader's daughter, Rasha, to gain allies in an impending war. However, he is more attracted to her identical twin sister, Aylin.Hunter is a great leader and hero. I love that he likes Monty Python. Needless to say he has a great personality. He is a good man who protects his family and people. He is selfless, having no issue making sacrifices for those in his care.I love Aylin. She has been treated poorly by her clan due to being crippled. She is strong and has a big heart. Considering how she has been treated, she has a great outlook and personality.Rasha, well…let’s just say that she is the complete opposite of her twin, Aylin. I don’t really have anything nice to say about her. She does make a good antagonist.Samnult is an interesting demon/god. The bickering between Sam and Hunter was entertaining. Heck, I love the conversations in the entire story, both verbal and internal. There are some very humorous comments made throughout the book, which kept me laughing.Larissa Ione did a phenomenal job with every aspect of this novel. The plot is well-thought-out. There are tons of action and suspense. The characters are well developed. Plus, the details that went into Chained by Night are admirable. I sucked down (pun intended) the first book and couldn't wait to read this one. I loved book 2 even more than the first. Hunter & Aylin's chemistry was amazing. From their first interaction I was eager to read more scenes with them. While Rasha on the other hand... well lets just say if I had a list of characters I'd like to smack, Rasha would be at the top of the list. Larissa Ione is a master of seduction. She pulls you in and does not let go. This series/book is definitely a must. I know some might think that vampire books and paranormal romances are dying or dead, but I tell you the genre is alive and well!

Chained by Night by Larissa IoneBook #2: MoonBound Clan Vampire SeriesSource: PurchaseMy Rating: 4½/5 starsMy Review: At the end of book one, Bound by Night, Hunter, the leader of the MoonBound clan of vampires strikes a deal that effectively ends his life as he knows it. In order to protect his clan and prevent war, Hunter agrees to marry the daughter of a rival clan leader. Yes, life as Hunter knows it is over. For two centuries Hunter has lived his life according to his own rules. He satisfies his needs as he sees fit, he runs his clan with a firm but not iron fist and, he works every second of every day to be nothing like his father. Now that he is contracted to marry Rasha, Hunter has a few things he has to get straight before the big day. First and foremost on the list is completing three tasks set forth by the demon Samnult. Completion of the tasks will ensure the survival of Hunter’s first born child as long as Hunter survives the tasks. Second on the list is convincing Rasha she has to complete the tasks with him and third on the list is figuring out how to stop hating the bitch queen known as Rasha. Aylin has lived her entire life in the shadow of her twin sister, Rasha. According to clan legend and tradition, the second born twin is to be killed and any child born with a defect is to be killed. Aylin is both the second born twin and has had, since birth a twisted leg but in a cruel twist of fate, her sadistic father allowed her to live. As a member of the notoriously cruel ShadowSpawn clan, Aylin has lived her life in constant fear. Her birth status and defect have made her a constant target, her father’s backward way of thinking and cruel leadership have kept her from escaping and, her sister has only rarely come to her defense. As the sister of the bride, Aylin is expected to attend to her sister in month leading up to her mating ceremony. As such, the twins are expected to live with the MoonBound clan and under Hunter’s protection until the time of the mating. When Hunter and Aylin meet, sparks fly but there are so many obstacles in their way. Among the obstacles, Hunter is promised to Rasha, Hunter is determined to fulfill his commitment and, Hunter knows Rasha will be a fierce companion able to help protect his clan. Though Aylin appears to be weak Hunter very quickly discovers that she is anything but and when the chips are down she is the twin he wants by his side. In a most unexpected twist, it is Aylin and not Rasha who accompanies Hunter through Samnult’s tests and it is Aylin who helps him complete the tasks at great personal cost. The return the reality is almost as harsh as the tests as Aylin and Hunter are forced to separate. Hunter’s determination to fulfill his commitment and protect his clan borders on madness and the insanity only increases the longer he is in Rasha’s presence and away from Aylin.Aylin’s time with Hunter both in his haven and during the trials is a revelation and for the first time in her life, Aylin is able to spread her wings and fly. Hunter and his clan help Aylin to understand that life can be different, she doesn’t have to be just a possession and, she can have a life outside of the cruelty of her sister and her father. In fact, with the help of the MoonBound clan, Aylin may just be able to escape all the wretched she has ever known and have a life she can call her own. The only problem is knowing that life will likely not be at Hunter’s side. The Bottom Line: Holy oy!! Book two of the MoonBound Vampire Clan series is even better than the first!! In this installment, Ione delves even further into the origins of vampires, their connection to Native American tribes and, Hunter’s personal history. You all know how much I loves me some history and some backstory, right?? Well, I certainly do! Hunter’s personal history very much explains his intense desire to fulfill his commitments and protect his people and once you understand where he’s coming from he’s a little easier to like. Aylin is pure perfection and I liked her instantly. Despite everything she has suffered in her life, she still has hope that her life can and will be better. She blossoms under Hunter’s attention and when she truly finds her feet, she is a force to be reckoned with. I. LOVE. HER. On the flip side, some people just get what they deserve and I am all kinds of OK with the hand Rasha and a few others were dealt in this read. Add to the mix the totally hot sex and this is a read I blazed through. This series is quickly working its way onto my list of favorites and I can’t wait for round three.

I have read other books by this author but this is the first book I have read of the Moonbound Clan Vampire books. I have to say that this is how I like my vampires...tall, dark, sexy, a great lover, and protector. Just like Hunter. Even Hunter's name is a good one. Aylin is a excellent companion to Hunter. She is strong and very likable. Together, these two were hot together. Like if it was winter, there would be no snow as they would have melted it. Plus the story line for this book was a nice one as well. It was not just your typical vampires fall in love or even vampires against vampire hunters. It has depth. Also, there is a happy ending. After reading this book, I now plan to go back and read book one, Bound By Night.

Chained By Night is the second book in the new series by this author. This series is about a vampire clan, that live in a time where their true natures have been revealed to humans, and they are considered the level of slaves, no rights and are constantly being hunted by humans. Hunter is the leader of the Moonbound Clan, his ways are far different from other vampire clans. When one of his own is kidnapped, he agrees to mate with the clan leaders daughter, in order to save another of his clan. His intended mate, Rasha, is brutal just like the rest of her clan. But her sister Aylin, is her total opposite. Aylin. Aylin and Rasha are twins, but that is where their similarities end. Aylin was born with a defect, a crooked hip bone, so she has a limp and she is treated like a outcast in her own clan. She has never been fully accepted by anyone. The plan is for her to accompany her sister, and help her prepare for the mating ceremony within a month's time. But then she meets Hunter, a vampire she is drawn to, he is so different from others she has known. He cares for his clan, treats everyone with respect, and protects. There is a sizzling attraction between them, but it is forbidden. But then Hunter and Aylin are forced to work together, are soon Hunter will have to make a difficult choice..his clan or Aylin?Chained by Night was simply thrilling, and what a wild ride this one turned out to be. I just couldn't get enough, and stayed up most of the night reading it. It is rare, to have a book keep me up at night, but this one did. Every time I get a chance to read this author, I am always amazed by Ione's talent in weaving together stories that pull you in like magnets. I just couldn't get enough of this one. Everything about this book was amazing. There was so much depth and substance to this story, and the characters alone would be enough to get me to read this. They were so compelling and full of complexities you didn't expect. Hunter is one powerful alpha male, he is a protector, and has honor, unlike most of the other clan leaders. He is mating a woman he hates to save a member of his clan, and in this story we see how he deals with inner conflicts with Aylin, who is his match in every way. Aylin is desperate to escape her fate of being mated with a brutal leader, who has a harem of women. But she has no idea how, when she has a limp and even though she can fight, she is no match for her sister. Aylin is such a strong heroine...my heart just went out to her. Despite how difficult her life is, she still dreams of being happy somewhere, and despite the fact that she is isolated, she knows how to fight but in different ways and she has the courage of a lion. I love how she is willing to help those she cares about no matter the cost to her. I admired her character through and through. The story itself was solid and full of depth and character...it has quite a bit going for it. There is much that goes on in this story I don't want to spoil for ya, but it was one of the most phenomenal books I have ever had the pleasure to read. There is quite a conflict for this pair to overcome, and it really had me at the edge of my seat for the whole way through...and it was quite a intense ride. Who needs cardio to get your heart rate up when you can read Chained by Night right?Overall a story that will completely suck you in from the beginning, exciting plot, intense characters, dangerous villains, complex scenarios, intricately written, with thrilling paranormal elements...and best of all a romance to win your heart and take your breath!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Listened for Review (Tantor)Overall Rating: 4.75Story Rating: 4.50Character Rating: 5.00Audio Rating: 4.00 (not part of the overall rating)First Thought when Finished: Holy hotness batman! Chained by Night by Larissa Ione ranks in the top 3 books by her that I have read.Story Thoughts: OMG I love where this series is heading or at least where I think it is heading. With Larissa she could be hooking me left and then sending me right. She is sneaky like that! However, what I really love is all the Native American heritage tie-ins this series has. It played such a huge part in Chained by Night. I was just giddy listening to it! The only part that caused the story to be 4.50 instead of 5 I will mention way down below in a spoiler area (so you are warned now not to click on it).Character Thoughts: HUNTER---no, wait a minute. I have to say the most kick ass character in this story was Alyin. She had one brilliant story arc and never (not for one single moment) did I feel any kind of pity for her. She was strong, smart, and beautifully written. She seriously rocked it! Hunter is HOT. He can wear his loin cloth around anytime he wants too. I won't complain a bit. The fact that he is super alpha, extremely loyal, and unbelievably awesome at leading play a part in his awesomeness too. However, I am just going to stick with loin cloth. Have to say, there are several people I would love to get stories in this series. I looked and no hint at what is coming down the pike. I think that is cruel and unusual punishment for the needy gal that I am! I am hoping Baddon but I am guessing he needs at least another book before he is settle down ready.Audio Thoughts: Narrated By Amy Landon / Length: 11 hrs and 40 mins I thought Amy Landon did a good job with the narration. I think she nailed Alyin and even nailed Rasha. I wish that a guy had done Hunter's voice but she did a pretty good job with his voice too. The pacing was excellent and emotions were spot on!Final Thoughts: Count down has begun to book 3!

CHAINED BY NIGHT is the second book in the MoonBound Clan Vampire series by Larissa Ione. It follows the romance between the MoonBound leader Hunter and the daughter of a rival clan's leader, Ailyn. We met them both in BOUND BY NIGHT, so we know a little bit about them and why they're thrown together in book 2 before jumping in, so if you have not already read book 1, I would do so.Ailyn has been treated like trash and told she was weak and useless for as long as she remembers. She has been 'sold' by her father to a horrible leader that has multiple mates and a taste for very young girls. She has big dreams of escaping the life that awaits her but before that can happen she must accompany her twin sister Rasha who is to be mated to Hunter. I won't rehash the whole situation that brought along the need for Hunter to mate with Rasha, but he in no way wants this match. He's willing to take one for the team (meaning the good of his clan). The attraction between Ailyn and Hunter is apparent from the time they meet. They both know nothing can happen between them but circumstances make it very hard to stay away from each other. I enjoyed watching them fall in love and overcome pretty dire situations. There are a lot of surprises in CHAINED BY NIGHT. There seems to be a lot of misconceptions involving just about everyone in the book. You will learn something new about both the main characters and quite a few supporting ones by the end. In case you're wondering, we do get to see Nicole and Riker in CHAINED BY NIGHT. Not a lot of time has passed since BOUND BY NIGHT, so Nicole is still newly pregnant and working on a way to make it safer to deliver their baby. I have a feeling I know who will be the next couple in book 3 but I won't reveal who. I wouldn't want to give anything away before you read book 2. I am very interested to see now their relationship would come together though, so I am excited to see if my feelings are right.* This book was provided free of charge from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
