    About this audiobook

    Jane and Elsie Melville were raised by their kindly but eccentric uncle, Mr Hogarth who believed that women were just as good as men, and thus gave his nieces a boy's education. Upon his death, they find that he has left his entire fortune to his heretofore unknown son and left them only a small allowance, expecting them to make their own way in the world using the education he furnished them.       I enjoyed the story. I had never heard of Mr Hogarth’s Will before listening to this audiobook. It is unusual for it’s time (mid-1800s), tackling themes of women’s education, careers, & women’s suffrage. The story is excellent; the audiobook is unfortunately not. Narrated by various persons, some were very painful to listen to, but I finished for the sake of the story.
