About this audiobook

From Colleen Houck, New York Times bestselling author of The Tiger's Curse, comes an epic Egyptian-inspired adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself!

When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.

And she really can't imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe.

But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world.

And don't miss new adventures with Lily in the rest of the Reawakened series: Recreated and Reunited!

This was supposed to be my last read of 2015 but due to falling asleep less than an hour before midnight on New Years Eve, it has now become my first read of 2016. not that I am complaining as it has gotten 2016 off to a good start.

I have always been interested in Egyptian mythology and this book used it really well when fusing it in with a modern setting. have ing recently read something else that also dealt with egyptian mythology , I was reasonably familiar with the stories with some of the mythology used in this novel.

Lilliana (Lily) Price has always done what she was told by her parents, and other in authority. her parents have her whole life essentially mapped out for her and while she may not be 100% happy with this, neither is she going against it.

Then she is in the wrong place and the right time and a chance encounter with a newly awakened mummy changes everything. Suddenly Lily is helping an Egyptian prince ind his brothers and enact a ceremony to keep the God of Chaos Seth from rising for another 100 years, risking her life for a man she barely knows but is developing feelings for and travelling to countries and doing things she would never have dreamed of just days earlier and even worse; She does not regret a thing!

I found this a wee bit slow to start. Having come from a previous read where I had been completely immersed from the get go ( and maybe still suffering a bit of a book hangover), it took me a little while to really get myself into the story but by 60-75 pages in, the pages began to fly and I found myself generally looking forward to getting back to the story every time real life intervened and I had to put the book down.

What Ms Houck does really well is to fuse mythology and a great modern story line together to make a plot that is exciting, romantic and can both sweep you off your feet and leave you on the edge of the seat you land on.

I also loved the chemistry between Lily and Amun. At first I wasn't so sure but as they interacted more and more, their chemistry built and by the end I was really pulling for them. I also felt that the change in Lily was authentic, she didn't become a different person but more discovered who she really was when not constrained by the rules of her parents and her perfect life and I flet like she really grew and discovered herself over the course of the novel.

I think I fell in love with all three of the brothers and i left the novel feeling like I really needed an Egyptian prince with godly powers of my own.

I found the ending a wee but confusing but I do know that there will be another book in this series and I for one, cannot wait to read it.

A most enjoyable start to my reading in 2016 and I give this book 4 stars

Wealth and privilege don't always equal happiness or enjoyment of life. They often come with over-critical and ultra-high expectation parents. This is the lot handed to Lilliana Young. If anyone needs a life kick in the butt, it's her and when she escapes to one of her favorite places, the Metropolitan Museum one spring morning, the last thing she expects is to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. That's exactly what happens when she encounters Amon, one of three mummified Egyptian princes who has awakened for a ritual he and his brothers must perform every thousand years to keep an evil at bay. Unfortunately, three of Amon's canoptic jars, vessels storing his vital organs, are missing, meaning he must draw strength/energy from elsewhere. That elsewhere turns out to be Lilliana and before she can wrap her head around this new reality, she's whisked off to Egypt so Amon can link up with his two brothers. What follows is epic adventure, full of 'Indiana Jones' like cliffhangers and scary creatures. More than one sticky situation brings Lilliana closer to death and injury than she ever imagined and helps put her former life in an interesting perspective. We'll have to wait for the second book to see how she deals with her parents' now somewhat silly seeming expectations. This is a good read for adventure-loving teens and tweens who aren't necessarily sticklers for historical/mythological accuracy.

Entertaining enough that I finished to book but mainly because I the Egyptian angle was interesting. Otherwise it was pretty mediocre.

I was finding myself figuring out the plot in several YA books lately; however, I accidentally came upon this book in a used bookstore. The repetitious chain has been broken with Reawakened. The smart, elegant banter and quippy comebacks from our heroine put my faith back into YA books again. Not spoiled by too much love and longing romance, this story is fast paced and exciting from page 2 to the end of the book. I was actually hoping the girl would get the guy, mummy, god, whatever. I truly w joyed this story and history of Egyptian Mythology.

I was really looking forward to this new book because of my love for the Tiger's Curse series that Colleen Houck also wrote. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. Although extensive research into Egyptian mythology is evident in this story, the emotional connection between the two lead characters, Lily and Amon, just wasn't nearly as strong as expected. The story was interesting enough, following Amon on his quest to resurrect his brothers in order to stop an ancient evil from claiming the world. He meets Lily in the Metropolitan Museum in New York and finds he needs her strength and energy to survive in order to complete his quest. As the story unfolds, we find that Lily and Amon have feelings for one another that grow throughout the quest. Too much of that feeling, however, is the author telling the reader about it rather than showing it. The end of the story was a mystery, but not in a good way. It seemed that the story was at an end, though not a happy one. Rather than a cliffhanger that would make the reader anxious for another installment, the epilogue just left this reader scratching her head. If there is to be another book as part of an ongoing series, I'm not sure if I even want to read it. I really wanted to love this story, but was left disappointed.

[January 31, 2013] So, a new adventure book is coming! I'm excited! I hope for action, romance, adventure, mythology and mummies. Just as promised in Colleen's blog announcement. It's funny actually, I'm writing a story about Egypt as well.

Readers who have read Rick Riordan's Kane Chronicles and are perhaps a year or two older are the perfect audience for this new novel by Colleen Houck. Lilliana Young has a lifetime pass to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is looking for a quiet place to make a decision about her future college plans and is allowed into the closed Egyptian wing. Lilliana is rich, privileged, and a good daughter. She has been content to go along with her parents' plans for her with no more than a quiet little niggling of rebellion. She meets Amon who is an ancient Egyptian Prince who sacrificed himself to save his people from the god Seth. Amon and two friends who are also princes and like brothers to him are all tasked with being reincarnated every thousand years to perform the ritual that keeps Seth away. However, this time there is a problem. He wasn't supposed to be reincarnated in a museum in New York and his Canopic jars are missing, The jars contain his internal organs which hold the powers he need to defeat Seth. He is forced to make a bond with Lilliana and use her life essence to survive. This makes Lily weaker and changes her personality too. She becomes bolder and more outspoken.Together the two head off to Egypt to find Amon's canopic jars and find and raise his brothers. But Seth's minions have awakened and they will do anything to keep the ritual from happening. The story was filled with lots and lots of details about Ancient Egyptian beliefs and objects. Sometimes, I felt that the amount of detail slowed the pace of the book to a crawl. I liked the way Lily and Amon get to know each other in the story. I didn't like the way he kept secrets from her that contained information she should have had. I liked Amon's brothers too. There personalities were distinct despite the small amount of time they were "on stage."Fans of epic fantasy with an Egyptian twist will enjoy this romantic story.
