son of a chieftain, has returned to the Highlands, determined to clear
his name after ten years in exile. He is drawn to the unforgettable
sensual beauty of Jeannie Gordon, the headstrong girl who once pledged
him her love, gave him her innocence, and then betrayed him. Now, in the

longer a starry-eyed girl but a woman with dangerous secrets, Jeannie

death warrant by turning him in. Soon passion flares hotter and bolder
than before, sealing a fate the one-time lovers can no longer deny.
Caught up in a deadly game of murder and intrigue, Jeannie is willing to
risk everything for a man and a love she vows never to lose again.
Monica McCarty
Monica McCarty is the bestselling author of the Highland Guard series, the MacLeods of Skye trilogy, and the Campbell trilogy. Her interest in the Scottish clan system began in the most unlikely of places: a comparative legal history course at Stanford Law School. After realizing that her career as a lawyer and her husband’s transitory life as a professional baseball player were not exactly a match made in heaven, she traded in her legal briefs for Scottish historical romances with sexy alpha heroes. Monica McCarty lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and their two children.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Epic story. A wee bit long. Roger Hampton's narration awesome always.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It took me a while to like the heroine. She was foolish and made choices that worsened things. But I loved Duncan and he got the ending he deserved. If you’ve read the other books in the trilogy, you will figure out who wronged Duncan pretty easily. But the story has some great twists to keep things interesting. I feel bad about all the lies that poor Duncan had to live through but am glad he came out on top. Part of me still thinks he deserved better than Jennie.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While for me at least this book got off to a slow start it picks up in the middle and redeems itself in the end. I really enjoyed this trilogy and look forward to starting on her next trilogy soon
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another steamy read from this author. How could you not love these Campbell men. Duncan is the typical alpha male and is humanized by his love for Jeannie. The sex scenes are abundant and wicked in these novels and the author truly does do justice to the highlander romance theme.
