About this audiobook

After being brought back from death, police officer Jackson Waverly receives the shock of his life: he has become host to a Bodywalker, a spirit that is reborn in flesh and blood, and part of a proud, ancient race that uses its extraordinary gifts to battle dark, evil forces. Jackson's spirit is a powerful one-none other than the Egyptian pharaoh Menes, who longs to reunite with his eternal love, the Egyptian queen Hatshepsut.

While Menes is obsessed with finding the perfect vessel for his queen, Jackson cannot stop thinking about Dr. Marissa Anderson, the gorgeous precinct shrink who keeps pushing him to confront his grief over the loss of his K-9 partner. But what Marissa really arouses most in Jackson is intense desire, which is exactly what Menes is looking for. To fight a great enemy, pharaoh and queen must join; but to host Hatshepsut, Marissa will first have to die. Fate has given Jackson a profound choice: save Marissa from Menes's plan or keep an entire species from the brink of extinction.

This is the second book in this series. I would recommend reading the first one because there is a lot of worldbuilding in that one. And since there was so much worldbuilding in that one, this one had much more story and romance in it. I enjoyed and look forward to reading more in this series.

    Just above 4 stars.
I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads- required statement.

I'm so happy that I received this through one of those give away contest that I am always entering, as I just finished the first book Forbidden last month and loved it. I have read all of the Nightwalker books and just finished with the Shadowdweller trilogy, so far I'm am liking this part of the Nightwalker world better than both of those. And I really liked the Nightwalkers, the Shadowdwellers not so much.

So this book, the 2nd is about the King, Menes, or Jackson, who is Docia's brother from book one. It starts up 3 weeks after the first book ends. Jackson is hiding out in plain site, keeping himself on the police force, while trying to get the psychiatrist's attention. It starts out slowly and I would have liked Frank to have gone back to the day he died and start from there rather than have this slow build, while training his new dog and searching for missing persons. You really don't get to see the blending. Though later in the book you do get how they are working it out.

Finally, he is attacked and the story seems to start. Once it does, it is non-stop like the first book.

Jackson and Menes have chosen Marissa as theirs but whether she accepts it, and the world, and accepts that she will be a bodywalker also someday, is the main story. While this occurs, an over arching plot forms. A very evil entity is released and scrolls state that the 12 Nightwalker races will have to come together to defeat it. Well, we heard that in the prolog of book one so, not new. But how could 12 species come together when, one is fighting a civil war in itself?

Some of this is started and answered here but there is a lot left in the air. The main part of this book is the relationship and that is answered but the book left off in such a place that I feel I read only 1/2 of the story... or even less. I hope she writes several more and gets the other Nightwalkers involved soon. I am enjoying the overall story line and am very interested how they will come together with the other books.

    So far I've heard of--
    1- Demons
2- Druids (though they are extinct some humans can be decendant)
    3- Shifters
    4- Vampires
5- Mystrals (I'm going to have to re-read Demian to see if there are others mention in it)
    6- Shadowdwellers

    from this series
    7- Bodywalkers
    8- Djynn
9- Night Angels (yes, these are mentioned in this book and I have no idea what they are)

And if you add the two species that the others are not sure about but are mentioned you have-

    10- Gargoyles (?)
    11- Natural born witches (?)

If anybody has any other ideas, let me know.

At the end of the book there is a preview of the next book which looks like will be Leo and one of the gargoyles.

Enjoying the series. This book starts a little slower compared to the first book and leaves more up in the air at the end. Not enough to make me crazy, but enough that I want to read the rest of the series. Ah... too bad they aren't out yet or I would get them all to read.

This book was even better than the first one. There was more of a romance than Egyptian setting. I suppose that this was because it was pretty much explained in the first book. I love the fact that it picked up right where the first on left off. Jackson blended now with Menes the Egyptian Pariah is working to bring Haptsheuh back from the eather. Jackson has always had a thing for Marissa Anderson who is the psychologist at the police department, Menes also finds attraction to Marissa, he finds that the chase in getting Marissa to die so that he may bring his true love Haptsheuh back into Marissa so that they my blend and all be a happy foursome together for the rest of their time in this world. Menes being a part of the Politics has a struggle with the Templar clan who do the same with the bring back of their souls into this world. However so many mortals get involved that it is getting harder to keep their secret. I cannot wait to read the next installment of this series to see what happens next and how the blending process goes. Very interesting take on souls coming back into this world.

I liked this book a little better than the first book in the series. It had less egypt lore and was more focused on the romance. It did kind of fall off in the description of the blending which was the most interesting part in the first book, as it put that happening outside of the timeframe of the book. The hero is rather likable. He was one of the favorites in the first book. the heroine is more of a mixed bag with some good things and some bad things.this book was received via the early review program

Loved this book, the second in the Bodywalker series. It picked up just a couple weeks after the first book, Forbidden, left off. I liked Jackson from the beginning and was excited that he got his own book, but he had such a strong presence and an unwavering sense of duty that he had to get his own book. Marissa was great too. The attraction they had for each other was like a living breathing thing that exploded off the page. I can't wait til the next book to see where they're headed in this war that they are caught up in and see how along with Ramses, Docia and Leo they fight this new enemy.I've loved pretty much every book the very talented Ms. Frank has written and I'm glad to see that this series continues with Leo's story. I'm also really curious to see if the characters from the other Nightwalkers will pop up in any future books since they read the prophecy too. I tried reading this book before I had read Forbidden and didn't think I would've had problems with it, but quickly set it aside to read Forbidden first. Glad I did so that I had a better understanding about how the Bodywalkers worked. Highly recommend this series.

This is the second book of the Bodywalker series. In this book Jackson Waverly becomes host to Menes an ancient Pharaoh. Menes wants his queen with him and is looking for an appropriate host. Jackson wants police shrink Marissa Anderson in the worst way. Menes decides that she would be a great host for his queen as they fight the Templar Bodywalkers.Every book by Ms. Frank i have loved and this one is no different. While she revisits characters from the last book she already has you waiting on the edge of your seat for the next. She weaves a story that transports the reader to a make believe world of paranormal alpha heroes and heroines. This is a great book to sit in a comfy chair on a rainy day and just read the time away.

Forever is the second book in Frank's World of Nightwalkers series. I have not read the first book, and I found myself pretty confused for the first few chapters. Once I figured out what was going on, however, I was totally hooked. The short tutorial is that Bodywalkers are the reincarnation of ancient souls who share the body of humans. At the moment of death the human is presented with a choice -- true death or life as a host, blending their two souls and entering a world where they have great powers but also great enemies who hunt them. Best of all, the lucky ones have an external love; they are rejoined every time they are reborn. Jackson is a K-9 officer who now is blending with the soul of Menes, king of his people. Marissa is the police department shrink who treated Jackson when his canine partner died saving Jackson. They have been secretly interested in each other for over a year but professional ethics have kept them from acting on their feelings. Now everything has changed for Jackson, and he wants to bring the soul of his beloved back to Earth in Marissa. This is a complicated but very compelling and interesting story. The journey Marissa takes to believing in and understanding Jackson's new reality is filled with difficulties. Jackson, too, struggles with finalizing his blending with Menes and leaving his old life behind. I'm definitely going back to read the first book, and look forward to the next installment. I highly recommend this book.Book received free from Library Thing with request for review.

Forever picks up right where the first book in the series Forbidden ends. King Menes has been incarnated through Jackson Waverly, a police officer, who was introduced in Forbidden. It is ideal to start the series at the beginning, but Frank provides enough exposition throughout this second book for readers to become comfortable with the storyline and ongoing conflicts. Jackson and Menes have gone through the process of blending and, now, along with fighting against his enemies, one of Menes’ priorities is to find a host for his beloved Queen Hatshepsut. Because he and Jackson now know each other’s memories and thoughts, Menes is aware of Jackson’s attraction to psychiatrist, Dr. Marissa Anderson, who counsels officers within the police department where Jackson is employed. Behind the scenes, Menes is “fanning the flames” encouraging Jackson to pursue a romantic relationship with Marissa. Menes thinks Marissa would be a great candidate to host his queen. Marissa spent a great deal of time getting to know Jackson when he was required to see her after the death of his K9 partner when Jackson was assaulted. Throughout their encounters, they have often clashed over differences in opinion. Yet, this doesn’t douse the mutual attraction that radiates between them. Now that Menes has become one with Jackson, he encourages Jackson to take the initiative with Marissa and reveal his feelings for her. While working a case together, Marissa witnesses a supernatural attack upon Jackson/Menes by an enemy. Marissa shockingly learns that Jackson is no ordinary man, and because she has been seen by the enemies, her life is in danger as well. The always professional and self-controlled Marissa finds herself ill-equipped to deal with the reality of this fantastical world she has entered. After Jackson takes Marissa to a safe house to protect her, he finds it even more difficult not to physically seduce Marissa. Their sultry kisses show him that Marissa is a sensual and passionate woman, but she is reluctant to let go, take a chance, and give in to her carnal desires for Jackson. So Jackson/Menes together woo her with beautiful, romantic prose that would melt any woman’s icy heart. And Marissa is no exception. Once they become intimate, Jackson/Mendes are determined to make her theirs. They proposition her to become the host for Hatshepsut. Marissa gasps when she realizes that even if she would consider becoming a Bodywalker, she would have to die first. Her obvious response is “NO.” Marissa has a serious choice to make. Will she refuse to become Jackson’s mate, knowing that eventually Menes will push Jackson to find someone else to become host to the queen? Throughout the story, Menes describes the perfect, profound, and enduring love that he shares with his soul mate, Hapshepsut. Can Marissa take a leap of faith and believe that Jackson truly loves her and that they, too, can have this same passionate and lasting love? Rather than being more action-oriented, the heart of this book focuses on the internal struggles both Jackson and Marissa face as they try to adapt to the Nightwalker world. The story certainly made for a suspenseful read as I awaited Marissa’s decision and what will happen next. Forever also foreshadows a major conflict in the next book, since a Templar has, unknowingly, unleashed one of the most evil gods into this world. After reading Forever, I am impressed with the creative and fantastic story line Franks has created, and am now a fan of this series. A copy of this book was provided to me by Ballantine Books in exchange for an honest review.

Jacquelyn Frank delivers again! I have always been a fan of this author and she did not disappoint. The 2nd book in this series is just as good as the 1st and leaves me waiting for the next.

Ever since I read Jacob by Ms. Frank, I have been hooked on her writing. Forever is no exception to her wonderful writing skills. The world-building continues to be great, character building is excellent, and plot is good. I do have to admit that this series took a little getting used to, and Marissa in this book did get a little annoying. However, I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a past fan of Ms. Frank or anyone looking for a good paranormal romance! Please give this book (and this author) a try!
