Best-selling author Rachel Gibson is acclaimed for her quick-witted and endearing romances. True Love and Other Disasters begins as the Seattle Chinooks hockey team owner dies, bequeathing the team to his young widow, Faith. Faith is determined to be taken seriously as the owner, and she's not going to let anyone-especially dreamy star player Ty Savage-get in her way. "With humor and eloquent prose, Gibson brings substance and depth to this loving, modern romance."-Publishers Weekly, starred review

Author

Rachel Gibson

Rachel Gibson began her fiction career at age sixteen, when she ran her car into the side of a hill, retrieved the bumper, and drove to a parking lot, where she strategically scattered the car’s broken glass all about. She told her parents she’d been the victim of a hit-and-run and they believed her. She’s been making up stories ever since, although she gets paid better for them nowadays.

An enjoyable story especially if you like hockey but the relationship transition from cold to hot was too abrupt and I never felt the heroine ever really took charge of her life. I skimmed some near the end. Faith's newly deceased husband leaves her a hockey team captained by Ty.

Not up to par with the previous books in her Chinooks Hockey Team series, but it was still pretty good. Widow of billionaire Virgil Duffy, a former Playboy Playmate, Faith Duffy, inherits his hockey team and of course, she and the captain, Ty Savage (Sah-vahge) dislike each other at first sight. But then they fall in lust and can't resist one another. Not bad, not great, but It Had to Be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a much better sports romance along these exact same lines.

I enjoyed this one better than her previous series and I'm glad she's gone back into the hockey world. Although the story was nothing new, it was told in a realistic way. I was worried I wouldn't like Faith because of the choices she made, but I did. It also helped that the hero wasn't a complete ass.

Not as good as 'See Jane Score', no, but this book does revisit the fun that is Seattle's Chinooks. Sexy, likable characters are combined with a fun and entertaining plot. As with all of Gibson's novels, I would have liked just a teensy bit more angst before the Happily Ever After ending, but I greatly enjoyed this book nonetheless.
