Ever the martyr isn't she? Evie is always trying to be the martyr for her friends well-being. It's good and all, but it gets annoying. She still believes sacrificing her life will save her friends, she never learns that it just isn't so. She convinces Russel to runaway with her to protect Reed and Zee but instead they get captured by Dominion and was tortured to tell them about her. Evie is also still crushing the egos of the men in her life. She still underestimates their ability to take on the beings trying to get at her. It's like she has no faith in them, I mean take Reed for instance, he's been around since probably the dawn of time and he's still kicking. That should be proof enough that he's completely capable of surviving a fight.
This time Evie doesn't just have Alfred to contend with, but she finds her self at the mercy of undead fairies, called Gancanagh, who are more like vampires. Brennus, the leader of the Gancanagh's wants Evie to be his Queen after Alfred enlists his help in hopes of garnering her soul. Evie did for the most part handle herself well while in their captivity. She wasn't constantly weeping. I did wish she would have taken advantage of more of her opportunities to fight or escape them. I really love a heroine who can take care of herself and not depend on the hero to always rescue her. But it pains me that with all Evie's capabilities she rarely get to use them to her advantage. There were a few times when she just accepts her fate and willingly succumb to her captors. Especially when they came to get her at Dominion(that's another story), she was compliantly leaving with them, she didn't even put up a fight, thank god for Reed.
Yeah, about Dominion, it's basically an headquarters for power angles. When Evie, with the help of Russel(thank god for him too) escaped the Gancanagh, she immediately heads to Dominion to plead for Reed and Zee's release by surrendering her life. I was in agreement that she needed to go rescue her protectors but she was giving up again and not fighting for her life, no sense of self preservation for this chic at all. Evie still has the ability to charm and fascinate the beings around her and the powers at Dominion were no exception.
So as far as things are now for Evie and her protectors, they are again on the run from an obsessed man, this time Brennus is that man. He won't rest till he gets Evie back to be his queen. Evie continues to evolve into a powerful angel and she's freaking out about her new angel abilities that are unlike any other angels. And now she will have more angels in her life. I love Phaedrus and wish to see more of him. And Preben seems to be a new ally for Evie, he seems cool too. More please.
I am definitely loving this series, it was unexpected to that I am so drawn in to the stories of these angels lives. Amy A. Bartol's three-dimensional characters still have a lot to do with that. They have personality and flaws up the wazoo. Evie frustrates me so much but it's that reaction or just getting a reaction from a book is a good thing I believe. You either want to runaway from it or you want to continue devouring it. And I will continue to devour The Premonition series till Evie gets it right. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5After reading entirely too many urban fantasy books about vampires and shifters, I'm enjoying these stories about angels, although this is the fourth series I've read that features angels as the main "supernatural" entity, so perhaps that too will become overdone.
Some aspects of the story are over the top melodramatic, and I get bored quickly with endless professions of teenage "true love," but otherwise I enjoy the stories enough to want to keep listening to the series. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is my third time reading this series. I read it once a year since I discovered it. It's such a cool mix of beings and characters you can't help but love or love to hate. I really like the audio performance she does all the characters so good. I'll keep reading it every year.

The narrator starts out reading Brennus' lines in a higher pitched voice than the main FEMALE character and that is just not him at all. Ugh. It got a little better but overall this audiobook was just eh for me.

Great follow up to the first book, Inescapable! I dove right in and was loving all the smoochiness between Reed and Evie. But of course it doesn’t last because Evie accidentally opens a portal and “shadowman” tries to kill her. Dammit! This dials up the intensity and makes it very, very clear that the hunt for Evie is very, very real. There definitely were some agonizing moments and I was turning the pages faster than I could read them.
The next part of the book was from Russell’s point of view, and honestly, I didn’t love it. While it was ok, I didn’t need his POV because I knew how he felt about Evie and I really enjoyed the story from her perspective. I also just didn’t love the second part of the story line – I know it is a common formula for many books: one person realizes they are in danger and harm may come to the one they love so they leave town. All that ever does is cause everyone pain with no winners. However, I kept trudging through. I was still also glad the love triangle never came about, I just don’t see Russell as anything more than a friend.
It was worth it! Of course Evie can’t protect herself on her own and gets into trouble, but this was not at all what I expected. It was fabulous! There were characters we got introduced to that we hated but then some I loved! I know I shouldn’t, but I really, really love some of them. I don’t want to say anymore!
I can’t say enough UNFFFF about Reed. I WANT THIS MAN! RAWR!! *fans self more*. He is just smoking hot and masculine. He truly is a warrior.
There were a few typos, but they didn’t bother me a bit and are something a great editor would catch. I love indie authors so I am always aware typos many times come with the territory, but are absolutely worth it if I can find a gems like this series. If you are an angel lover like me you absolutely, positively must add this to your “to be read” list. To top it off, the cover is just gorgeous. I just loved the red feather and the simplicity of it all.
Best of all, we don’t have to wait much longer for the rest of the series: book 3, Indebted is due out this spring and book 4 is due out summer 2012! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I. Have. No. Words. Epic? Hot? Adventurous? This book…was almost the death of me. I finished it on Valentine’s Day and had to calm myself down since the third book isn’t out yet. I wanted to weep. Actually, I wanted to sob with snot running down my nose, but I had to put on my big girl panties for Valentine’s Day.Ok, I don’t mean to be rude, but that summary really doesn’t do this book NEARLY the amount of justice it needs. I tore through this story with neck breaking speed. It’s got an adventure like none other, romance like none other, and some major quotability like none other. Last time I say “none other” that many times…sorry! The book starts with Evie, Reed, Buns, and Zee headed out for a New Years Eve party that basically gets crashed by some crazy big Powers. Evie’s own evolution is continuing and with the help of Russell and Zee, she starts being trained to fight or to possibly defend herself. Not long after this, Evie finds out she and Russell are a magnet for the Divine and the Fallen and it puts not only her and Russell at risk, but also Buns, Brownie, Zee, and more importantly Reed. Evie’s need to keep them safe from harm, forces her into a decision to runaway with Russell to keep the rest of them from being hurt. *shakes head…what a girl thing to do! We get a great story from her actions though and actually get a few chapters from Russell’s POV. Which, I was dreading the read…but thought “huh, it might be better than reading about Evie moping…” and read it with some gumption. It turned out to be good…like really good. It makes me feel for Russell to the point I aaaaaaalmost changed from Team Reed…I said almost. The romance is so good. Like GOOD good. It made my heart happy and left me doing a happy dance in my chair. After finishing the book…I soon ended up with a feeling like depression…this feeling was because I realized I had worked myself into a frenzy for the third book…which wasn’t out yet.Where’s the third book? *stares into camera* Amy, it’s your fault if I gain 50 pounds from eating this many Doritos…I digress…To keep with the good feelings…one of my favorite funny quotes from the book: “I don’t know what just happened, Reed, but I can tell you, that if she touches you one more time, she’s going to wind up with a fork sticking out of her.”and then of course, “Well, he had to tell you what kind of warrior he is. You know…’I will eviscerate your enemies and sear them in the fires of agony’ blah, blah, blah, – ‘if they dare speak your name I will cute out their tongues’ blah, blah, blah’…”I smile just reading that! I seriously love this twisted family!
