About this audiobook

Laird Ruairi Sutherland refuses to send his only son away to be educated by the English. And he most definitely will not appear in Edinburgh to pay homage to a liege who has no respect for Scotland. So he does what any laird would do-he lies to the king. The last thing Ruairi expects is a beautiful English governess to appear on his doorstep.

Lady Ravenna Walsingham is a seasoned spy who is sent to the savage Highlands to uncover a nefarious plot against the Crown. Playing the part of an English governess-a job easier said than done-she infiltrates the home of Laird Sutherland, a suspected conspirator.Contains mature themes.

It's one of those stories you never want to end. Apart from the first chapter, I listened to it all in one sitting....just loved the storyline and the characters within the story.

This is my first book by this author. It was nice and I liked it.
I liked Ruairi more than Ravenna and don't get me started on her sister Grace, ugh...
Sadly the reason I gave it only 4 stars not 5 is because this author has not included in the plot anything that is to do with everyday habits such as cleanliness and hygiene which would make the story more realistic, also knowing that Ravenna is a lady I found it hard to believe she is not a virgin.
It's a known fact that nobility used to tupp servants and maids but would not dare women of nobility, as such she would not dare herself! Ruairi has spilled his seed inside her yet there is no mention of Ravenna being fearful of pregnancy. As as said before there was no mention of everyday habits found it unrealistic. Nice story but not as good as Lynsay Sands Highlanders romances. Also though I really like the narrator, sadly she cannot do a Scottish accent, meaning all Scottish characters sounds Irish rather than Scottish (not that Irish accent is bad, it's just not right for the story).

Spy meets highlander and falls in love. That is the story.

I did think that the book could have been longer, maybe only 50 pages more to put some meat on the bones. They met and were in lust a second later. I would have wanted more around that. It was too quick. Very insta and in a way not, time went by, we just did not see it.

Ravenna spies for the crown and is sent to see what a certain sexy highlander is up to. Ruairi just wants to be Scottish and not send his son to Edinburgh and what's wrong with that?

She pretends to be a Governess and thinks he speaks no English. Oh watch your tongue then. HA, you will see. They both start to fall in lust. She learns that Highlanders are not brutes. Someone is sabotaging his lands and all the while she continues to lie. Will he ever forgive?

A romance with a sexy laird and a woman who knows what she wants.

This is my first from this author, and I'll definitely read more (though I am a little hesitant about the next book in this series which is about her sister who showed up in this book. She seems like she might be the 'willful to the point of stupidity' sort, which I do not care for. She could totally redeem herself though). I liked that the heroine was a spy (and a pretty capable one) and that the hero was plenty manly but not a brutish asshole.

Victoria Roberts had me at a “Highlander”!

I found this story to be very easy to read and I think that was because the plot was interesting and intriguing, but I also credit the characterization of the hero and the heroine for the story being such a pleasure to read. Their banter alone is worth a read!

Putting together two strong characters can sometimes backfire, but not in this case. I loved the reversal of roles, of sorts. This time around we had the heroine in a role of a spy and she was so good! I don’t think our hero, as Alpha as he was, had a chance!

If you love medieval Scotland and men in kilts, if you love spy stories that are chock full of intrigue, with some betrayal and sensual romance in it, this one is not to be missed.
