About this audiobook
Dee has always been good at preventing anyone from seeing the real her. She is content being the happy-go-lucky best friend, the strong-willed boss, and the independent woman who doesn't need a man. She's terrified that all it will take is one person to make all her carefully constructed walls crumble into fine dust.
The second that Beck sees Dee, he knows that she will be his. He sees past the gorgeous smiles and heart-stopping laughter. She doesn't want him to know her secrets or the past that haunts her, but he makes it his mission to find out. Dee can run all she wants, but it will never be far enough to stop Beck from coming after her. She's it for him, and she knows it. She's just too scared to admit it.
Contains mature themes.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Most of this book, I wasn't that crazy about except for any of ML parts. I always love everything that involves him. Toward the end I got more into it. The glitter jar was soooooo touching.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dee and Beck have been great side characters, but this book really, really brings their relationship to a whole new level.....there is the perfect balance of any great story here. Plenty of drama mixed with a great side of humor. The love that is around in this book is unbelievable....not just with Dee and Beck, but with the entire Corps Security family. Harper Sloan has done it again....definitely a five star read for anyone looking for a read that will stay with you long after you finish reading the last page!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oh my God, I loved this! It was so heartbreakingly beautiful and painful to see a person go through everything that Dee went through and just to have somebody like Beck by her side through the whole ordeal was just beautiful. I think I cried for the better part of the book. When something awful happened, then something good happened and then something even worse happens again, it exaust my water ducts. LOL. Beautiful!

All I will say is read the whole book to understand all of Dee...
Harper has asked for spoiler free reviews. So with that said I am going to tell you how I felt about this story and give you a little background on the characters.
This is the story of Beck and Dee. I was scared going into this one only because of the fact that I was not a big fan Of Dee’s in the previous 2 books. The way she treated beck in those two books had me disliking her. Now I love Dee, I understand her, and I know why she was the way she was.
Dee comes from a family with money but also one that lacks love. She is Izzy’s Best friend. She has spunk, she is feisty. She will do anything for anyone if they need her help. What people see is only the outside of Dee. No one knows that inside she is broken. She has never told anyone what haunts her. She does not want any form of a relationship.
I am Denise Ann Roberts. Strong, proud and independent. A loyal friend, godmother and I radiate fucking happiness so that people will never see how lonely I really am.
Beck, Hot Alpha Man with a heart of gold. He can see right through Dee to her soul and he knows what is hiding inside of her. He will do everything in his power to help her and to make her his in the end.
"You've got nothing to be scared of with me. Not one damn thing… Fighting for you, and this relationship might drive me mad at times, but it's the fight I want if it ends with you in my arms… Please, Dee. Take a chance on us, and I swear to you, baby, you won't regret a day of it."
The story behind Dee and Beck is one of a lot of emotions. You truly get to see and understand why Dee is the way she is. You get to see Beck stand by her side and get even the little bit that he gets from her and remain right there beside her throughout it all.
“I can only hope that she’s become strong enough to realize that she has all the power in the world to become whole again and a man who’s willing to fight tooth and nail to help get her there.”
Beck knows that Dee needs to work through what is going on inside her. He does not push, he does not pull. He let’s her go at her own pace.
It’s like he really does see right inside me. It’s almost as if he can reach right in and pull out my secrets.
Dee she starts to work through what she is feeling inside. It is one tough road for her. No one understands what she is going through. She has kept it hidden from everyone. Even her Best friends have not noticed, Dee has kept it hidden that well.
Everyone around us looks at our fucked up relationship and does nothing but judge. They see only the outside, the window dressing. They don’t see this side of Dee... No, everyone sees perfect Dee, happy Dee, and the Dee that never stops smiling, even when she’s dying on the inside.
There is a lot of emotions in this book. Harper sure knows how to throw a blow you did not see coming right at you. You feel it all. I wanted to hunt Harper down and beat her lol, and I told her this. Then she redeemed herself a little with me. So her butt is safe for now.
“I want it all. Mind, body, soul, and heart. I promise you that when we finally get there, it’s going to be worth the wait. When you open yourself up to me completely… Baby, you won’t even believe how good it’s going to be.”
I cannot wait for the next book and to see where Harper Goes with it all. Definitely if you love hot alpha men then this series is one you need to check out now. Each book can be read as a standalone, but in my opinion read the series from the beginning to get a better understanding of all of the characters. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5If you have been following this series, you do not want to miss reading Beck! The novel has a heavy emphasis on romance, and although it is primarily a character-driven plot, the story is full of intense, suspenseful moments and heavy-hitting surprises that left me stunned by the end. John Beckett and Denise “Dee” Roberts are the featured couple in this third installment of the Corps Security series. Even though the book is titled for Beck’s character, I really think Dee’s character arc and transformation is the crux of the story, and Beck is her rock, becoming her anchor when she feels the urge to run away or withdraw from life. Dee has been a part of the series from the beginning and although her character hadn’t been fully developed, it was evident that she is an amazingly supportive, loyal best friend to Izzie whose drama unfolds in Axel, the first book in the series. Thus far, Dee has appeared to be the flirty, happy-go-lucky friend, too fickle to have any kind of serious relationship with Beck, who has been interested in her from the first time they met. However, in Dee’s case, appearances are deceiving, and slowly, over the course of the book, Sloan peels away the layers of the protective shell that encases Dee to reveal the personal demons that haunt her. If you haven’t read the series, I strongly encourage you to start with Axel in order to fully understand Dee’s fears and the depression she privately battles. Dee and Beck’s story covers a two year time span and is narrated from both of their POVs. No one really knows why Dee and Beck have never been able to commit to each other despite the strong chemistry that sizzles between them. Beck has been frustrated with Dee for much of the past two years, and I was a bit surprised when I realized how serious he is about Dee. He isn’t satisfied with the purely physical relationship that Dee has offered; he wants her heart as well. While Beck’s “brothers” just shake their heads at his refusal to give up on a hopeless relationship, they have no idea of the emotional connection Beck has forged with Dee after seeing past her façade. I was floored by Beck’s consistent adoration, loyalty, and the depth of his love for a woman who has continuously pushed him away. Overall, Dee is a likeable character but early in the book, I was frustrated and confused about why she keeps running from a man whose feelings are so genuine and transparent. I really didn’t understand why she couldn’t lower her guard to give him a chance. However as more details are revealed about her past and the pain she’s endured, I gradually began to empathize with her reluctance to trust men, and I could see why Beck is willing to be so patient with her. What can I say about Beck? He’s a drool worthy hero, beautiful and solid on both the inside and out. Is he a little too perfect? Maybe. I found it hard to find any flaws in his character. Perhaps he’s a bit too possessive and territorial and goes a bit overboard when his inner caveman comes out? I’ll let you decide. Nevertheless, it’s nice to find a hero with the fortitude to stand up and fight for the woman he wants when it would be so easy to just walk away from the constant rejection.Although the majority of the book focuses on Beck and Dee’s evolving relationship, a subplot related to Dee’s company does put her life in jeopardy and leads to some tense and explosive scenes that certainly ratcheted up my interest to find out what will happen in the next book since new characters have been introduced and potential new relationships are foreshadowed. If you like the series but aren’t quite hooked yet, Beck may be just the book that will push you into becoming a fan. I received an ARC of this book from the author for an honest review.
