- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is a quick read for me and i cried reading the book. The story is about Ryan who is unable to let go of his love for Kelly found her pregnant and working at a diner. Being him, he insisted to have Kelly be with him albeit the fact that Kelly betrayed him by sleeping with his younger brother. That was also the reason for the breakup of their relationship. As for Kelly, she just want to have a life with her baby and with Ryan turning up at her doorstep has complicate the matters further. I cried the most when Kelly out of desperation, confessed the truth about what has actually happened between her and Ryan's younger brother and the realisation dawned on him that his brother has betrayed him. Overall, the author has successfully played with the reader's emotion and it was indeed a enjoyable book to read ;)
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Better than many books of this genre. The female character comes across as very young and naive, but not completely unsympathetic. The male lead would drive me crazy with his hovering - I would have run away and stayed away, but the book mentions "fantasy world" several times and I guess that describes this book pretty well. There IS a conflict that reveals itself very slowly (probably too slowly) that the reader knows will eventually come to a head; but when it does, its almost anticlimactic. This terrible secret has been a huge wedge between the couple and when it is finally dealt with, it gets a total of 2 little pages - maybe 85 words. Too simplistic to believe it would work out this way in real life. I WOULD have liked a short epilogue, but it wasn't strictly necessary. Overall, not a bad summer read and I finished it in 2 days, so if you are doing any type of reading challenge (like I am) this is great fodder for your list!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Audiobook: Narrator – Harry Berkeley
I enjoyed this narrator and one of the reasons was he didn’t over do the female character. Actually, it felt like he wasn’t really trying to do a female voice at all and yet there was enough distinction to know when each character was speaking. It was pretty nice to not cringe as I usually do when a male narrator effects a female voice.
This is a rather short read, much like the old Harlequins, filled with misunderstandings, lack of communication and plenty of angst. There were times I wanted to smack every single one of the characters upside the head and yet I was enjoying it all along the way. Why? Because I knew exactly what I was going to get before I started and this was exactly what I was wanting. I loved when the hero finally sees what was right there all along and then there is some big, as in huge, groveling going on. The blurb pretty much lays it all out there for you and there really are no surprises.
