Reviews for The Lord-Protector's Daughter
50 ratings4 reviews
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The author takes the time to let the reader get to know the characters. This makes a story so much more real. Having read almost all of the books by this author, I look forward to other books he might write.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A little slow and obvious. Characters didn't have much depth and there's was a lot of repetition. Modesitt seems to have tried a character different from his normal male action orientated one but this resulted in the dull bits being the whole story The end was just silly and not realistic to the story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A good quick read. I believe this is going to be a trilogy, the third one of the Corean Chronicles, but it takes place between the other two chronologically. It was a good story, with an interesting heroine & came to a good end - no hanging, which I appreciate. There are certainly unanswered questions & plenty of room to continue the story, but this one is complete in itself.
Once again, Modesitt looks at how power works within a society. In this case, our heroine is a woman in a male dominated society. The restrictions on her & the gender bias almost made me want to scream. Her too! She has to solve an ancient puzzle or three & figure out how to leverage her abilities. It's a fun trip. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Very hard to believe some of the aspects of teh story, so not the best I've read so far.
