      Wieder einmal beginnt für Greg ein neues Schuljahr. Doch irgendwie hat sich nichts geändert. Sein Bruder Rodrick ist das alte Ekel, Manni bekommt alle Aufmerksamkeit und seine Eltern wollen den Teenager einfach nicht verstehen.Seine einzige Hoffnung ist Holly, in die er unsterblich verliebt ist.Doch das Leben gestaltet sich nicht so einfach, wie Greg sich das vorstellt. Beim Fußball muss er auf der Reservebank sitzen, sein Vater will ihn auf eine Militärschule schicken und sein bester Freund ist beliebter bei den Mädchen. So stapft Greg von einem Fettnäpfchen ins nächste.Im mittlerweile dritten Band stellt Jeff Kinnley die Leiden eines jeden Teenagers dar. Und es ist immer noch nicht langweilig geworden, obwohl der Leser mit jeder Zeile ahnt, dass das für Greg nicht gut ausgehen kann. Mit einer Mischung aus Tagebuchgekritzel und unterstützenden Zeichnungen erinnert der Autor daran, wie es war, als man noch jung war. Gregs ganzer Frust spiegelt sich in den Zeilen nieder. Der Leser merkt, dass Greg nichts weiter sucht als Anerkennung und ein bisschen Glück.Die Mischung aus Comic und Text macht die Geschichte so interessant und witzig. Das Buch liest sich in einem Rutsch weg und macht dabei auch noch Spaß. Auch wenn Greg nicht der größte Glückspilz im Universum ist, so fühlt man gleichzeitig mit ihm und amüsiert sich doch über die großen und kleinen Missgeschicke des Jungen. Vielleicht, weil der Leser sich in dem Protagonisten wiedererkennt.

      The series is definitely getting better as it progresses. The main character is developed well, although he's mainly a selfish pre-teen idiot. That said it goes down well with my seven year old small boy and causes some interesting conversations. So I would recommend it.

      This one was as funny as the first; I was in serious stomach pain from laughing uncontrollably. Yay!
