About this audiobook

Best-selling author Roxanne St. Claire knocked her fans' socks off with her debut Guardian Angelinos novel, Edge of Sight. Its sequel, Shiver of Fear again blends suspense and romance for a sizzling adventure. Ex-FBI agent Marc Rossi takes an assignment from his Angelinos cousins that seems pretty simple. Just get some information out of socialite Devyn Sterling any way he can. But this ice princess is warmer than she looks-and she's on a mission of her own.

This is 2nd book in the Guardian Angelinos series. The story of Marc Rossi, who we first met in Edge of Sight, a former FBI agent is sent to Northern Ireland to bring home Devyn Sterling, who was also in Edge of Sight. Devyn, however, has no itention of leaving Ireland. Devyn is searching for answers on who she really is and as Marc tries to convince her to leave, she tries to convince him to help her. Their relationship develops slowly which I enjoyed. There is a lot of action in this story with several different agencies involved and a lot of confusion on who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. I read this book in one day and look forward to the third book coming out May 1.

I actually liked this better than the first installment of the Guardian Angelinos series - though I'm giving them both 3/5, this one was less focused on the romance and more suspenseful, in my opinion. I liked how the story spanned so many years and included reference to Ireland's history with terrorism. It was better paced than the first book, as well - although a long read, it was well paced. Still more romance than is my preference, but good, light reading with fun characters and interesting story line.

I enjoyed this romantic suspense with lots of action that moved right along but it portrayed females in a bad light from the beginning when a smart woman made poor choice. I like a complex plot but there were so many tangents. Investigator Marc is assigned to bring newly widowed socialite Devyn home from Belfast, Ireland.

Shiver of Fear is book number two in The Guardian Angelinos series. I haven’t read the first book, but feel it would have offered helpful background on how the family owned P.I business came to be. The series can be read out of order, but I wish I would have started with book #1.With that said, I feel the author did an excellent job of giving readers a brief overview of what happened in the first book so I wasn’t completely lost. Events that happened in the first book seem to have set those for book #2 in motion. Devyn Strong is seeking the truth about the woman who gave her up for adoption. She knows her birth father is a man who has committed many crimes, and she hopes her mother will be a law abiding citizen and not a criminal like the man who fathered her. Her desire for answers leads her to Ireland, and directly into the path of danger. Marc Rossi has been hired by the FBI to find and bring Devyn back to the United States. He arrives in Ireland and finds himself involved in something so much more complicated than he had anticipated. He also finds it hard to resist falling for the beautiful Devyn. With both Devyn and Marc left slightly bitter and cautious after failed marriages neither are looking to get involved, but they find the attraction hard to fight.I enjoyed the action and the setting in Shiver of Fear, but found I couldn’t connect with main character, Devyn. Her thoughts and actions just didn’t make sense to me. I understood her desire to meet her birth mother, but her desperation was very extreme and her constant focus on her “bad blood” was a little annoying. Her ex obviously did a real number on the poor girl, but one minute she was strong and assertive and the next throwing another pity party. Marc was an excellent hero, but I wasn’t feeling much chemistry between him and Devyn. This caused the romantic aspects to fall flat for me. Thankfully the action and suspense were enough to hold my interest and keep me reading. I also enjoyed many of the secondary characters, and can’t wait to learn more about them as the series continues.
