Excellent Tang Dynasty romance. It’s bit of a Pygmalion story, hence the My Fair Concubine title, but so much better, because there’s no misogynistic insults, at least not from the romantic male lead. It’s a slow building story, with political intrigue, an underworld crime boss, an amazing archery contest, charming actors, strong friendships, a plucky heroine, a highly honorable hero and a sweet love story.
