About this audiobook

After nearly being trampled at a concert hall when a fire broke out, Valerie Wolitzky went from confident and self-assured to scared and skittish. And when a ringing fire alarm sends Valerie into a full-out panic, her friends convince her to seek some professional help.

Former CEO Adam Templeton gave up the corporate life to buy a ranch and his horses provide equine therapy for those suffering from PTSD. While not afflicted himself, Adam has his own share of emotional damage from his failed marriage. But when he meets Valerie, he finds himself suddenly ready to get back on the dating horse. Valerie wants to put her faith in this sensitive, gorgeous billionaire cowboy-but her scars may run too deep for her to trust a man again.

    Audio-book: Narrator - Arika Rapson

Ms. Rapson was completely believable in both her male and female characters. I never had to struggle or adjust to her performance and I was able to keep my speed at my preferred setting. I enjoyed listening to her very much and would certainly listen to other audios from her as well.

This was a quick read/listen that I utilized between two lengthier books when I was needing a bit of break. It carries a heavier topic than I was expecting (I had not read the blurb) but I loved how Adam used the animals he cared for as an instrument for treatment. The story here seemed to be a bit more than the space provided so some things felt a bit rushed and/or contrived to fit. I was never completely sold on the chemistry between these two and although this didn’t really have any of the things that check my boxes, it was still enjoyable enough.
