Debora Geary's WitchLight series is, like all of the books that have gone before, an experience to be savored. Unfortunately I'm always into instant gratification when anything new arrives from this author and Witches Under Way is no exception. I truly intended to savor this book, and I did -- in one sitting. You know the old advertisement for potato chips? The one that challenges "...bet you can't eat just one"? Well, I challenge anyone to read just one book from Ms Geary's universe. It can't be done. Witches Under Way is peopled with smart, funny, compassionate characters who truly care about each other. Elsie and Lizard are women who desperately need to learn to trust in themselves -- in who they were born to be. That isn't an easy journey but having friends who will laugh, cry, and perhaps most importantly, eat copious amounts of food with you can make the journey infinitely more interesting. This is a story that you want to be a part of. Debora has created a place where the soul sings and magic happens -- all because people genuinely care about each other. The socks don't always match and sometimes having a frog on your bicycle is necessary but you wouldn't want it any other way. It's impossible to put down this book and not feel completely certain that there is hope in the world. It's a story of poetry and silliness, despair and love. Most of all, love. This story is one to share. It needs to be shared. Elsie, Lizard, Nat, Aervyn, Jamie -- every character in Witches Under Way -- will remind you of the very best in everyone you care for. And while you are sharing the book, share a plate of chocolate chip cookies too. Aervyn would want you to!

The second part of Lizard’s and Elsie’s journey. This story has quite a different feeling to it compared to Geary’s A Modern Witch series, simply because it’s a trilogy, one story in three parts and not a handful of interlooping stories, each centering on a different character and a different facet of one bigger, over-all story. Does that even mak sense? Nevertheless, though the feeling is a different one, Witches under Way was just as enjoyable as all the other books by Geary I’ve read (and I have, in fact, read them all).
I liked this trilogy’s protagonists from the very start – okay, maybe Elsie took some more getting used to but I still connected with her somehow almost instantly – and I just started loving them even more while reading this novel. The two of them are great, so different yet eerily the same in so many points – not that they would ever confess to that out loud- and it was great to see how they continued their journeys.
I also liked how the other characters got more of a platform in this novel, how Lizard and Elsie started interacting more and more not just with Jennie or each other – though it was also awesome to see their relationship unfold – but also with the rest of Witch Central and how it were these new relationships that at some points helped the two of them to overcome the problems on their journey while at other points they were what created some of the never poblems in the first place.
Well, I just loved it, plain and simple, it was great and awesome and captivating and all kinds of fascinating and… Well, just start readin, guys!

Lovely addition to a lovely series.
I keep waiting to get tired of these, but so far I am still in love.

It seems as if nothing is happening, but oh, so very much is.

Elsie and Lizard are continuing their journey to self-knowledge and it is a fun journey to travel with them.

These books are just as "clean" as all the others.

And yeah, the willing suspension of disbelief is fully engaged. But hey, it is a book about a town of witches and NICE people. Mayberry and Bewitched combined.

There were a few more typos/editing issues in this than I am used to. But I don't remember ever finding one before and I think there were four or five in this one. Nothing to take you out of the story at all.

From Lilac Wolf and StuffBang up job, as usual. I love all of Debora's Witch books because reading about Witch Central is like floating in the ocean. It's warm and sunny, there are ups and downs but you just keep floating along. Her pacing is always consistent, and the witches who are central to the story are always helped along by all the other witches in Berkley. And in this one, helped by some of the mortals too.Once when Elsie was working on her fire power, they discovered a little baby boy (mortal born) was a fire witch. I also adore that the fire witches seem to be drawn to knitting, and knitting in their warm colors of red, yellow and orange. This book touched me more than any others because I have some similar issues and frustrations that both Elsie and Lizard have. With Elsie, realizing she never really had her childhood, and missing out on all that silliness and color. I absolutely fell in love with Elsie in this book. She showed tremendous courage in facing her..."stick-up the butt" self.Lizard is forced to do a few things outside her comfort zone. But basically it all boils down to her realizing she is worth the effort other people wish to make for her. She is well loved, regardless of her hard exterior, now she needs to learn how to accept it.This is a trilogy, so there is just one more book. *can't wait!* But I was glad to see A Modern Witch is a series...and there are going to be 9 total. So now I'm waiting for #4 in that one too. It's like a soap opera that doesn't leave you feeling grimy after. I just adore all the characters and if this were a real place I'd go there in a heartbeat!

Another wonderful book from Ms. Geary about Witch Central. This is the second of a trilogy about the Witchlight mentor program, where we're watching witches Elsie and Lizard find their way. This book's themes were about throwing off the chains that bound you and letting your passions surface. Both women are finding their new lives bumpy and scary but with the encouragement of their mentor Jennie and all the others in the witch community, and in the end, with the support of each other, they are finding the courage to take chances and listen to who and what they really can be, the people they dream about but never thought they could find in themselves. Elsie confronts her past to find her future and finds out she can fly. Lizard breaks down the inner walls for her way forward and finds out she really is worthy and important and able.

Lizard and Elsie are working on letting go of their baggage and the pathi is definitely not an easy one. With the support of each other and the witches at Witch Central, Lizard and Elsie are finding out who they were always meant to be. Another great book by Debora Geary! I absolutely love both of her series and would highly recommend them to anyone.

I received Witches Under Way by Debora Geary a week ago. Believe me it didn't take me a week to read it, this is just the first chance I've had to write a review. Witches Under Way is the sequel to Witches on Parole, a spin off (of sorts) of the Modern Witch series. I may or may not squeal with delight every single time Debora's name appears in my inbox. I truly have loved every single one of these books, and she always leaves me itching for the next installment. Anyway, enough rambling...on to the review! Witches Under Way finds us once again catching up with Elsie and Lizard, both of whom are working through their personal baggage on their way to becoming the kind of women and witches they were meant to be. Lizard is becoming quite the realtor-in-training, but shows her true passion when she begins taking poetry classes at the local college. Elsie is slowly trying to recapture some of the childhood she never even knew she missed, and all of our favorite witches are there to help them along the way. To the shock of everyone, even themselves, Elsie and Lizard have formed a bond and are becoming each others biggest supporter, while at the same time being the one to help push the other to do things they didn't know they could.I'll admit, I was sad when I got to the last page of this book, I couldn't believe it was over so quickly and I wanted to see what happened next in the lives of Elsie and Lizard. I cannot wait to see how their story ends (however, I will hate to see it end at all). Another wonderful book by Geary. This entire series is a must read in this girl's opinion!

Another dip into the world of Loving, Understanding and Caring between Old and Young, Fat and Skinny, Grumpy and Solicitous, but, certainly adorable characters. Two new characters, Elsie and Lizard, are added in this extension of the WitchLight Trilogy. Both are interesting if somewhat convoluted additions. They, although seemingly diametrically opposed, are paired together as support members for each other and are even given housing that they share. The unlikely result is a mutually positive experience for both of them and opportunities for growth abound. The normal cast of characters are present, Jamie and Nat, Lauren, Helga, Caro, Vero, Jeannie and finally the loveable Fire Witch Power Child, Aervyn. What a great cast and not a single downer among them. Debora has a miracle imagination to create the scenery and situations that she moves her characters through. It is all done with conscious and very apparent love. It is certainly fun to read about challenges but good things happening as the characters move through them. Debora is a master at creating the "Feel Good" story and still tying together the same bunch of needed support characters. Just another pleasure to read!

Review:Witches Under Way by Debora Geary 5 STARSIt seamed liked I had to wait along time for this second book in the Witch Light Trilogy. It was worth the wait. If you have not picked up any of the series you need to check them out. They are a community of characters working and helping each other in the witching world. Its fun to read and I get lost in thier stories. This second story starts a few days after end of first book. Lizard is making soup for all the sick witches with Gina hadding herbs and Aervyn age 4 is delivering it by teleporting right in the kitchens of those sick. The young witchlings heal faster than the older ones.Lizard is still working for Lauren and is getting ready to start collage, sell her first house by herself and lots of growing opportunities that she faces and yet to come.Elsie starts out still at yoga but soon leaves. She is getting voice lessons from a opera singer. Elsie is willing to try new things from slowly to faster she grows in her playful side. Elise needs help to being silly and people wrote ideas or challanges that are put in a jar for her to do. Her first one is to ride an wild decorated bike out in public.Lizard and Elsie have become good friends who are for each other. Having met at beginning of their WitchLight sentence and made to share living quarters. You want to root them on some of thier journeys. Also want to see where they go next.Thier is more of the knitting circle ladies, water fights that make you want to join and laughter and tears. Dressing up fashion shows and new babies to love. I had a smile on most of the book and still smile as I think of different events in the book. I was given this book for free in exchange of past reviews.1/28/2012 PUB Fireweed Publishing
