- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A bit all over the place but entertaining. A nice escape.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/53.9 stars. First on the Light Dragon series. This is a spin off of her Asiling Grey series. Several characters from that series makes an appearance, tying the story together. Jim the dog/demon is back, and he is as funny as ever. This book picks up were Me and My Shadow ends.
Tully has a somewhat normal life as an apprentice mage. She is married and has a son she loves dearly. She suffers from dreams that are incredibly realistic and frightening. She is dragged into the Dragon world where she is accused of being a wanted dragons mate (Baltic) and therefore charged with his crimes. The problem is she has black holes in her memory. They must have her confused with somebody else, but these dreams keep haunting her. She struggles to brings her life together while trying prevent further disastrous complications for the dragons.
It is a nice fast and entertaining read. I will continue with the series. It did end in a cliffhanger, be warned. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I didn't like this as much as the previous 7, it was pretty much the same: Wild, Independent, Stubbon woman & Bossy, Macho male Dragon.... Hot & steamy & sexy.
Fighting, fighting...none of the Dragons listening or wanting to hear the truth....all holding grudges....same old thing....
.....but what I did like about the book was it gave a good basic (but not comprehensive) history of the Dragon Septs and their ongoing war. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked this one but it was confusing at times as there were constant changes in the narrative to a memory/dream scene and it was done with no transition like a line break or a divider icon such as * * * between paragraphs or even putting the text in italics to signal the reader that the scene would be changing. Sometimes it even happens in the middle of some dialogue.Something I really enjoyed was the talking demon dog. I didn't expect a talking animal at all in this book so I was pleasantly surprised. They kept calling him an "it' which drove me nuts and kept throwing me off. He (I refuse to call him "it") was funny, flippant, and a bit crass at times. Just what I like in a talking animal character! :) Occasionally the story or dialogue would get a little silly but it wasn't the kind of silly that bothered me. YMMV.Most of the characters were interesting. I liked the banter between Baltic and Ysolde/Tully and even Baltic's interaction with Ysolde/Tully's son was a hoot. I could tell that some of the secondary characters in this book were from the related earlier series that I haven't read yet, but I didn't feel like I was missing info I needed for this story. I'll be continuing this series and I'll likely go back to the first one and read through the other two series as well. That makes three more series to add to the ever growing list!Just a warning to romance readers. Though it is labeled a romance, this is not a true romance. There is no real HEA and the story continues in the next couple of books with the same characters. I wouldn't consider it a cliffhanger ending but it definitely was unresolved and cannot stand alone.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very good boom
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I must be a sucker for the cover art, because I've picked up 2 copies of this with the same cover, even though I've never read anything by her before. Unfortunately, I didn't love the book.Although this is the first in the 'Light Dragons' series, it follows on from the 'Silver Dragons' series, so I came in rather in the middle of things. It opens with someone waking up to find they are suffering from amnesia. She is - and therefore we are - thrown into the middle of events without knowing quite what is happening. Not having read the previous series, I felt rather lost. Modern-day Tully Sullivan is told by a group of strangers that she, like them, is a were-dragon; or rather, she is a reincarnation of one. She falls (in both incarnations) instantly in lust-at-first-sight with Baltic, who is from a clan of were-dragons who are enemies of the silver dragon clan, with whom she is staying. I quite liked the plot initially, which started out promisingly - when I could follow what happened in the past, and sort out characters from the welter of names. Unfortunately, the plot turned into a sub-plot, and the book turned into a 'romance' with the main character deeply in lust with a man based on the fact that he is arrogant, chauvinistic and exudes sexiness.Other than that, it seems to be a sex romp (of which there was no indication in the cover blurb, or I wouldn't have been taken aback by it / bought it in the first place); and, for fans of dragons, there's only one passage in the book where they actually turn into dragons. It annoyed me a bit. Plus the fact that it's supposed to be set in London, but could be anywhere in the world. It's personal, I know, but when my home town is mentioned, I look for it to be featured a bit. In my experience, people in England don't say "Six blocks north" when asked for directions, so it jarred.Sorry; this one wasn't for me.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good idea for a book. This is the first book I read in this series. It was hard to follow at times because of the timeline. I felt like I was missing something on who the characters were like I should've read another book in the series first. I did enjoy the book but I would recommend reading others in the series first to get the background characters.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not bad. Written by a deft hand, but it is a romance, and it is lightweight.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Not bad, but the potential was a lot higher. The book is part of a series, which is all well and good, but the author does nothing to help newcomers. A wealth of previously-paired up characters are paraded through the chapters, with absolutely no help or descriptions offered; you're just expected to know who all these people are. The humour was good, had me grinning quite a bit, but often it degenerated to an outright farce that just got tired. The first few times, a joke is funny. If it's repeated over and over... not so much.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I really enjoyed the build up in the mystery surround Tully's memory loss and getting to know her past through vision flashes and the romance but I found some of the characters were a bit stereotypical. Seemed like most of the leading ladies mated to the dragon leader were all snarky in same fashion. I usually enjoy sarcastic humor but I felt it was over done just a tad bit with most the characters having the same personality traits. But overall this book was a fast, enjoyable read with a lot of laugh out loud moments. I'm very interested in the next book in this series because the ending was very open-ended with a lot questions left unanswered.
