This was recommended to me (by a retired teacher) as a book that any teacher would enjoy. I didn't like it, but then again, I'm not a teacher. When I was in school, they were the enemy. I never really liked Amanda Pepper, but obviously, it is a matter of taste.Amanda is a teacher at a private school specializing in the stupid children of wealthy parents. Perhaps it is her dislike of her pupils that put me off. She is also very down on the upper class generally, which readers may like or dislike, according to their nature.I never lived in Philadelphia, but my grandmother did, and I found this book extremely evocative of the place. A friend of mine lived in a townhouse just like Amanda Pepper's. The sense of place almost made up for the main character.
